Angelus hadn't known what to expect when he'd decided to check out the old lands. Maybe remnants of his family. Perhaps lingering signs that this land had once been claimed. Something, anything, to connect the present with the past. What he found was a whole lot of nothing. Time, it seemed, cared about none. It ate history like water at a stone.

The giant sighed as he looked out over the lands. From here he could see into the Knolls and if he turned and angled his head just right, he could spy the old run down barn in the Range. He had fond memories of this place and of the people who had called it home. And those memories seemed to be the only thing left. The Orchard was littered with the scents of rogues. Rogues who probably knew nothing about those who used to call these lands home.

Angelus frowned to himself as he resumed walking. This melancholy thinking was for the birds. He needed to fix his gaze on the future, not mourn the past. How else was he going to make a name for himself?

OOC: Sorry I take forever to remember things D: Feel free to poke me if I forget threads again, I won't be offended lol.

Skittering across the ground, the little slate-colored child found himself leaping at the few dried leave that littered the ground, tail wagging playfully. He was full of energy, jumping from one target to the next, hardly sparing a moment to breathe before he was off again, running full tilt to take a flying leap at a stick. Chewing till the twig snapped between his teeth, Amos then stood and looked for something new to leap at, still barely even tired. That was when he smelled something. Someone! Someone new, even! Tri-colored eyes bright with excitement, the boy set to trailing after the scent, large paws stepping on all sorts of leaves and twigs as he wandered along.

When he saw the stranger up ahead Amos crouched, bearing his little fangs, and stalked closer. Scrambling his way up onto a fallen log the child sought to even out the height difference before standing all puffed up and asking, "Who're you?" In what he hoped was an impressive voice.

A noisy skittering drew Angelus out of his reverie. Somewhere nearby something was walking with rather heavy feet through the leaf litter. He couldn't decide if it was something big and fearless, like a bear, or simply something young and naive, and unaccustomed to stealth. He was hoping for the latter. A calf of some kind, maybe, or a young deer. Something he might be able to surprise.

What popped out of the foliage wasn't quite what he'd been hoping for, but it did fit into the category of young and naive. It was a boy, likely not even yet a yearling by the look of him, and instead of being alarmed by the presence of a stranger, the boy seemed ready to take him on if necessary.

To be honest it was kind of endearing. Hopefully the boy wasn't feeling brave because there were adults nearby ready and waiting for him to drop his guard. The last thing Angelus needed was to be ambushed.

"Angelus," he rumbled smoothly after the boy demanded his name. "And who, sir, are you?" If the boy was looking for respect, he was going to get it. At least for now. His courage had earned him that much. Of course if he chose to be snotty from this moment out it was entirely possible Angel would knock him off the log.

Amos beamed as the older wolf introduced himself, mismatched eyes sparkling cheerfully. Angelus was a cool name he supposed. Straightening a bit the child replied, "I am Amos Allantide," his voice still taking on that overly accentuated tone as he tried to increase his volume and be very impressive and cool, "I live here. Where do you come from?" his act was melting as the child managed to distract himself rather quickly. Soon his tail was waving behind him, reflecting the excitement within at the very thought of hearing about interesting and far off places. Soon he'd be more than big enough to run off and see the world for himself, but for now he was content to assault any passersby with questions.

Sizing up the larger male, Amos cocked his head to the side curiously and asked, "Do you ever fight and spar people?" maybe it was mostly the mans size but something about him reminded Amos of Feli. Feli fought lots and was really good at it and Amos kind of wanted to be like him someday.

The little guy was just too cute. He stood tall and proud; his thin, youthful voice wavering and crackling as he presumably tried to sound older and more impressive as he engaged a much older, much larger stranger. The boy was pretty brave, maybe foolishly so, but in this instance it wasn't going to cost him anything.

Angelus dipped his head slightly in greeting. "Well, Amos Allantide," he rumbled, "it's a pleasure to meet you." Ah, so the boy did live here. That wasn't a surprise; he appeared to still be too young to travel large distances. It made sense for his den to be nearby. This information only served to make Angelus more vigilant. He watched his surroundings out of the corner of his eye for fear of being sneaked up on. "From here, actually. My father used to rule a pack here called Imperium. When I was your age I had the run of the Orchard, the Range and the Knolls."

The boy's second question caused Angel's ears to flick forward. His curiosity was evident at he gazed at Amos. It was an odd thing to ask out of the blue, but perhaps not so surprising given how bold the boy was. "I do," he confirmed. "Been fighting since I learned how to walk," he said with a chuckle. "How about you, Amos?"

"Likewise!" he chirped, looking quite excited to have someone new to talk to and dropping much of the previous seriousness he'd been going for. He wasn't that good at bein' serious anyways. The child really seemed to perk up when Angelus said he was from right here. "No way! That's pretty cool! Did you go on lots of adventures? Did you have lotsa siblings to play with? What're the knolls like? I haven't been there." Having free reign in all those lands would be extra cool if there were others to go exploring with. Amos never got to have as much fun playing by himself, it would be way cooler to have lots of siblings who were more fun than the ones he got saddled with. Of course he didn't make a great effort to forge strong bonds with his brothers, but he was little and one could hardly blame him for not knowing better. It sure didn't take much to set the boys mind to whirring, full of so many thoughts and questions he had trouble picking what to focus on.

Puffing up a bit again, Amos replied, "Sometimes Felicien teaches me things. He's tha one who taught my mom, and then when me and my brothers were born he taught my da too. He's a good fighter." Snickering a little and eyeing Angel cautiously, he added in a slightly lower tone, "But I don't think da's quite as good..." Then, after sobering and thinking about it a second, he added, "Sometimes I'll ask mom to teach me more, but she doesn't like teaching too much even though she fights all the time. Even got scars to prove it." he started to wilt at the thought, but quickly bounced back as an idea seemed to hit him and he looked up at Angelus with wide, hopeful little eyes. "Would you maybe teach me some? I could be a good learner! I'm pretty smart!"

As soon as Angelus explained a bit about himself, the boy's attitude changed and he immediately began to pepper him with questions. He wanted to show the boy that he was taking him seriously, but he couldn't keep a straight face as Amos asked him question after question. He was just too darn cute. Angelus just grinned, nodded and waited patiently for the boy to pause for air before jumping in and answering his questions. "I did, I have two siblings who are my age and we went on all kinds of adventures. The knolls..." He paused to think for a second. "I think out of the three lands Buffalo Knolls was my favorite. I could sit up on this big rock and watched as a huge herd of buffalo stampeded around me."

"Would you maybe teach me some? I could be a good learner! I'm pretty smart!" God, the kid was so happy, so excited about the prospect of someone teaching him. How could he possibly say no? Angel had grown up surrounded by capable fighters who were more than happy to share their knowledge with him. He couldn't imagine it being any other way, but if it had been different, he would have hoped someone would come along and teach him.

"You strike me as pretty smart, kid. I bet your parents are proud of you. Taking the initiative and all." Yeah, there was no way he could say no. "Alright, I'll teach you." He regarded him curiously. It was kind of hard to pick something to teach him without knowing what the boy had been taught already. "Is there anything in particular you want to know about? Any questions that have been bugging you or things you've been struggling with?"

Amos was enraptured by Angel's words, wishing even more that he and Rogdar  and Torryn might get along enough to go on fun adventures together. Maybe he would try to invite Rogdar once. Or he'd just go to the knolls himself. "Woah! I've never seen the buffalos. One time I saw an elk though," he chattered in the idle manner young children can't help but use.

He canted his head, considering Angels words before musing, "I guess, but mom gets mad when I wake her up early." his expression turned impish as he giggled, "I like to get up early a lot, anyways." He was probably lucky he was a funny outgoing kid who managed to amuse Mara even if he did ruin her sleep schedule. Although what his brothers did to stay in her good graces he couldn't say.

Amos lit up even more (if that was even possible with how excitable he was already) when Angelus agreed to teach him. Leaping in a few excited circles, tail a blur, Amos giggled with glee at the prospect of learning from this new teacher he'd discovered. He managed to sit mostly still when it was time to answer questions. "Uhm, well, mom taught me defenses and I think I have them down preeeetty good. She said, uh, that 'if you don't learn good defenses, you may as well forfeit.' I think thas what she said... Oh, so, what're good attacks to start with? Cause, I think it might be important to have a good start."
