Salt water pooled around his knees, calm and ambient. Each pad rested upon smooth rocks; rocks too pretty to be left untouched. The incubus bent down, scooping one in his jaws, careful to keep himself balanced with his limbs spread equally. The rock pressed his skin like a kiss and glistened with the light of the sun. Within a few moments he released it into the briny air, watching for the arcing splash, feeling as if time itself was as spellbound as him. Before he knew it, he was gathering another from below, mesmerized even before he gave it flight. Strands of golden and brown silk are lengthy giving him a feminine appeal at times, but with just that negative there is one positive. The mass of muscles beneath the tapestry of egyptian velvet is hidden, and his frame could be misconstrued.

Oscion - Azure

All was dark in the world. There was no sun, no light, no sky, not even the moon stood for the wolves to call out to as they sang their broken songs in agony as the begged on their knees for the night to fade and bring life back to the world. A hopeless, endless feeling of loss and destruction and despair. No one could be trusted, and no one cared. A creature named Soul, in a world where souls didn't exist. From the moment of his birth, a ghost in black cloth. When all light is taken from the world, the only light you can find is within yourself, some wolves could hold on to it, others lost it and drown in the inky black abyss never to return again.

Mother, Why!? Why does my chest hurt so much? Why, no matter how far away from this damned thing, this horrid soul, I try to run, I can never get away from all this pain!?

Words cried in that endless dark with no ears to fall upon it. Run. Run and run and run and run until your lungs give out and your heart starts beating, the end will never be found. Because some wolves, some wolves can't go to the grey place where there is no pain because there is nothing. So tightly bound are they to their light that it becomes the most tormenting thing for them in that endless darkness. You can either embrace it, or you can fight it. But a wolf with light this strong is so because they have a purpose, something they must find and do and believe in, finding that is the only thing that releases them from their torment.

But pain, pain was a fact. There is no road that is without pain. Through this pain, greatness is either born, or more black is birthed into the world.

The thick, inky shadows would start to migrate, move and dance and swirl, collecting together as a form took shape from them against the cold stone floor. These shadows would gather, coming together, that form becoming one of a wolf, sewn together by the very chaos and malice it detested so much, eventually, mass and shape began, individual strands of fur, the flesh of paw pads, that rubbery, yet mass that was a nose, closed eyelids toe nails. A single thick wisp of glowing white smoke venturing into a slightly parted maw laid against that cold, hard stone. This smoke was called Nafsi, Soul. Once it disappeared into the form, breath flooded in, and the chest expanded. Life, life still persisted.

~~~
When Nafsi opened his eyes, they fell shut again for a moment as his jaw closed in a grimace and a groan. Damn, this whole waking up stuff only sucks worse with age. Slowly, he made his way up to his feet again, continuing to groan at the protest of his shoulders. His body wasn't ready to continue, it wanted more rest, and his head was splitting with a headache. And this is why we don't eat funny looking flowers, he thought to himself. But you do foolish things when you have nothing to loose. Making his way back to his feet, he gave a long stretch, more than one joint popping in protest.
One his stretch was done, he rolled back onto his rump and eyed the puddle of his own drool that coated a small spot of stone in the dim light and just sighed. "Ya know, at some point I should really just try plain old Sleeping." He mocked himself. Lifting his head, he continued to mumble as he looked around. "As opposed to passing out to fatigue or... whatever the hell that was..."
Reluctantly, he forced his body to move, there was work to be done, scouting, scavenging, finding proper shelter. And he needed that work, a place for his mind to focus. Maybe given enough peace and quiet, he'd clean up and stop looking like he'd been dug out of the trash. Dried mod caked his paws and ankles, and his matte, soft black fur traveled in multiple directions in a long running argument of what 'Uniform' meant. Making his way to the water's edge, he'd stick his muzzle in to wash off the drool from that side of his face before lifting it out and having a cool drink to wet his painfully dry throat. Following that, his yellow eyes would dart up, a sudden spark of color and life in what was once a very dull terrain.
He smelt another wolf.
It would prompt him from the tight little solid alcove he'd passed out it and start very carefully making his way through the watery cave, clinging hard to the shadows until his eyes finally fell upon the other creature. This creature was massive, and stunning, truly and remarkably beautiful, and fluid in a way as to prevent him from telling if the creature was male or female. But a strange flutter in his belly didn't seem to care, as it had been far too long since he'd last looked upon beauty in this world. But from his shadow he would hide as he spent a minute more observing the creature that stood playing with stones in that ray of light.
The choice that lay before him, to turn and slip away undetected, or to risk a chance to meet this magnificent creature. It was proving more difficult that he cared to admit, having been just another wolf he'd have no care to remain and exchange. But finally, his rough voice would call out. "Greetings." A single word, but it was all he could manage.
