Following the river, Kanja made her way further into Abaven territory. She wasn't quite trespassing. After all, Sparrow had told her (more or less) that she could come and go as she pleased. She was being helpful, after all. Big, helpful Kanja. Yep, that was her, and if anyone asked that was going to be her story.

In reality she was snooping. From the border she could hear a low roar and the longer she listened to it the more she wanted to find the source of the noise. She'd rooted all around the border, following her ears and nose in the hopes that the part of the river (because what else could it be, right?) that created so much noise was outside Abaven. It wasn't. Not really one to care about rules or consequences all that much, she'd frisked over the border without so much as a thought about the repercussions. It was gonna be great, everything was fine. She'd just sweet talk or maul anyone who gave her trouble.

As she approached, the sound grew steadily louder until it was almost deafening. The sound was fantastic, really. It rattled her chest and filled her ears like the growl of a bear. Finally it came into view and Kanja had to pause to take in the scale of the rapids. They were magnificent. The power that flowed along the riverbed was spectacular.

Tentatively she hopped onto one of the rocks that jutted out of the river. From there she jumped to another and then, satisfied with her position, Kanja turned her nose to the breeze, closed her eyes, and breathed in the rich river scent of petrichor and chaos.

Sparrow had occasionally wondered what had possessed her father to claim lands that consisted of rapids. She was sure whatever his thought process was had made sense at the time- not that she ever got to ask him- but now she wasn't so sure. Sometimes, she even wondered if perhaps those who had gone missing in the past had ended up as victims of the rushing waters below.

In fact, there was one wolf testing these limits even now. Sparrow recognized that coat.

Kanja.

Sparrow watched for a moment, her expression flat. Kanja jumped tennatively onto the rocks around the rapids.

Sparrow thought to call out, but she knew her voice would be drowned out so instead, she settled for watching.

Brandr was following a deer trail along the river and working out a strategy for another pack hunt. He had his new duties to attend to but that hadn't mean he'd forgot his main concern of making sure the pack stayed well fed. His ears twitched but the roar of the rapids kept most sounds muted. It always made him nervous but thankfully other predators were rare in these parts. As he scouted along he caught an unfamiliar scent… wait no, it was vaguely familiar. It was that strange woman Sparrow let flit in and out of packlands at will. His brow wrinkled. He wasn't quite fond of that idea. If this woman and the strange man wanted to be part of their pack then they ought to have joined. Having loose agents running around as they pleased felt dangerous to him. Who knew if someone else out there might make the pair a better offer. What if the Abraxas got involved. He sighed. Even so, he did trust Sparrows judgement and hoped the smaller woman was getting something good in return.

Stalking along, he soon caught up with her where the rapids were loudest. He approached like a stalking panther until he arrived at the edge. He gazed out to her form on a rock and decided he was, maybe, close enough to call out. He tensed, legs coiling in case she turned on him violently.  "Hey!  Can I help you?"

Well, this was simply grand! The roar of the waves was invigorating. It made her want to sink her teeth into something big and dangerous; to pick a fight; to cast herself into the rapids and take on mother nature herself.

The longer she stood there the more intoxicated with chaos she became, so when the voice called out to her over the din her head snapped towards the caller fast enough to make her dizzy. The gesture was simple and seemingly harmless, but the force with which she turned to face him somehow made it violent. Her eyes were dark and wide, her expression feral.

For a moment she simply stared and then Kanja managed to grab hold of enough civility to form words. She made a show of eying him up and down before frowning and snorting dismissively. "Hmmm, I think not." What was he going to do? Snark back? Gather the other pack mice to come stare at her? She was on a rock big enough for one; the most he could yowl from another rock.

After a moment, Brandr showed up, vigilant as always. He stalked closer and closer, then eventually called out. Sparrow was only slightly disappointed he didn't try to scare her. That... might have consequences, however, and Sparrow realized the moment she thought about spooking Kanja that it probably wasn't the best idea.

Despite Brandr's lack of trying to scare her, Kanja spun around so sharply that Sparrow was surprised she didn't tumble into the water below. For a tense moment, she wondered if Kanja was going to launch herself at Brandr. She was ready to dive in, if that were the case. Sparrow thought that perhaps she should reconsider Kanja's relation with the pack.

Kanja said something inaudible back, but judging by her expression, it was total sass. Sparrow rolled her eyes. What had she expected? She made her way quickly to Brandr's side.

"You know if you keep acting erratic, you'll fall into the water and die," she said flatly. "Also I thought we had an arrangement about not sneaking into the pack."
