Ooc: come fight or teach the baby, idc.


Once again she was out and about, this time at long last with her mother's permission which stipulated that she not go too far. Was this too far? She sure hoped not, cause it would suck to end a perfectly good day of exploring by getting yelled at for something silly. Shaking her dark head, Caelestis dismissed the thoughts of parents and rules and returned to what she was doing.

Having spotted some very large and interestingly arranged stones in the distance, she couldn't help but come investigate them, walking around a huge broken circle of stones that were probably once something much more impressive. Heck, some were taller than her dad, who was the tallest wolf she knew and her only frame of reference for size. She herself was getting taller every day, though. Her legs continued to lengthen and her frame was filling out nicely. She was really tempted to find someone to beg for fighting lessons, maybe her dad but it would be more fun to have someone other than Zephyr teach her. She couldn't very well tell him that, though.

She thought about climbing the crumbling circle of stones much like she had descended the falls not long ago, but then she spotted some larger rocks sitting isolated in the center of the circle and she scurried over to stand atop the largest one. Looking out at her surroundings the young girl laughed loudly without restraint, a spring breeze tousling her brown fur before disappearing as quickly as it arrived. Rose and seafoam eyes glowed with energy as she spun a little circle on her new perch. This place was super cool.

As an idea hit her, the girl dropped into a bow, head and tail aligning with her spine as she jokingly mimicked a fight stance and growled, "Entering the arena for battle champion of the world, the mighty Caelestis! Fighting to uphold her title as the best fighter in all of Boreas, and Auster! Raaaa!" Jumping to the other side of her rock the girl gazed out at an imaginary crowd, as though hoping to summon a challenger for this pretend fight.

Pyre casually strolled through the rocky terrain with no real sense of urgency or direction. He hadn’t really had a reason to be anywhere in a long time and he hadn’t quite determined if that was a bad thing. He should probably go find his sisters and figure out a game plan, but that took more effort than he seemed to want to put in at the moment. Instead he just aimlessly wandered and got into fights as often as possible. It wasn’t a bad life in his opinion.

A young voice caught his attention and he stopped to listen, his ears perking and his head tipping slightly to the side. The flame colored man smirked at the declaration and he couldn’t help but checkle. Whoever it was sounded just like himself when he was a pup. Curiousity getting the better of him, Pyre turned and walked toward the voice, quickly finding a pup apparently waiting for their challenger. While trying not to grin like an idiot, Pyre hopped over to stand across from her, landing in a mix of a play bow and a fighting stance. ”The best in Boreas and Auster huh? As if! I challenge you to a duel, my lady!”

Glancing around at the empty space, she never really expected a response to her antics since as far as she knew she was alone. The girl was both surprised and delighted with a brightly colored man appeared, drawn by her shameless and bold delaration as she played alone. Maybe if she was littler or prone to shyness she’d have found herself embarrassed by being overheard, but as it was Caelestis just enjoyed that someone had appeared who would play along. Ears flattening she gave a mock snarl and bounced forward, almost falling off her rock in the process as she retorted, ”Yeah, that’s right! I’ll fight you, come at me!”

Maybe it started as a game, but Caelestis was totally willing to make good on her words. She didn’t say things she didn’t mean, as evidenced by her slowly sliding into her defenses while hopping down to the ground. Ears back? Check! Head and tail even with her spine? Yep! She narrowed her eyes a bit as she puffed out her chest and stared him down with a determined gaze. Yeah, if she beat him she could totally start being the best fighter for real! That would be super awesome, and she’d have to tell her dad all about how cool she was when she fought a boy made out of flames.

Lifting her head slightly she called, ”Come at me, challenger! I dare ya’!”

It only occurred to him after the fact that him jumping out of no where might have scared her - or worse, made a protective parent attack him for doing so - but it seemed like she really was as boisterous as he had been at her age and there didn't seem to be any momma bears near by. The grin that was threatening to break through finally won out as she accepted his challenge and puffed out her chest at him. The way she lowered her ears and had her tail level with her spine didn't go unnoticed by him though. There was some good foundation somewhere under that over confident puppy exterior. He figured he could at least give her a little fighting lesson while they were at it. All he had ever wanted when he was a pup was for someone to teach him how to fight. He loved his father, but a fighter he was not and he had to wait till he was old enough to get into fights on his own to really learn. Since she was up on a rock with a little bit of a higher ground than him, he jumped forward to land with his hind legs still on the ground and his forepaws on the rock right in front of her. Quickly before she could jump back, he reached up so he could just tap her throat with his nose just to show where he might have attacked if he would have really wanted to hurt her. "You better keep that neck covered up, best fighter ever! Never know when someone will try to spring a fast one on ya!" He hopped back down to the ground and took a couple quick steps back before he settled into a real fighting stance - just as an example. "Hop down and show me what you're made of!" All just poking fun at her of course, but now he was actually interested. His ears went back and eyes narrowed, chin tucked down to cover his throat while his neck and tail leveled out with his spine. His paws shifted into a steady, widened stance and his toes spread so his claws could catch the soil under them more easily. His shoulders rolled forward and his scruff bunched up around his neck as well. He gave her a slight grin and watched her expectantly. Speech Thought Others

Staring him down with an unearned level of confidence and boldness, Caelestis’ tail beat the air in a wild, playful rhythm as she growled from her spot on high. When he came leaping forward, she found herself woefully unprepared for him to actually engage. What was this new and wondrous thing where someone closer to her age than anyone she’d met thus far actually appeared and had fun with her? Lifting a paw and leaning her weight backwards she attempted to evade him but couldn’t escape the light brush of his nose against her throat. Eyes wide like a startled doe she let her right ear flick to the side as she processed what just happened, hearing his tip and taking it in. Yeah, okay, she could see how that could be important given what he just did.

Standing tall with an increasingly curious expression, Caelestis decided this was kind of fun. She just had to get used to the idea of having someone to interact with for once. Nodding at his instruction she grinned and flew down from the boulder with a leap, hitting the ground lightly as a cat in a way that made it easy for her to slip into a more serious fighting stance. A few times her dad showed it to her, and even her mom eventually relented and helped her practice but she still took a while to understand the myriad of things she should do to defend herself when a spar began.

As soon as she felt the earth beneath her paws the girl’s legs moved so they were spaced equidistant, weight distributed evenly across all four limbs, head and tail adjusting to become even with her spine once more, toes flexing so her claws dug into the soil to provide better traction and shoulders rolling forward. As she eyes Pyre she further adjusted herself, mimicking what she missed quickly. Ears flattened, eyes narrowed, and yes, chin tucking to cover her throat. Lips peeled back in a feigned snarl which ended up devolving into a giggle that nearly ruined her stance until she recovered. Sticking her tongue out she called, ”Better?”

Pyre watched the girl follow his lead as she hopped down with a surprising amount of grace and got into a pretty decent fighting stance. He chuckled at the giggle that escaped her and gave as much of a nod as he could manage with his head tucked down like it was. "Much better!" It looked like someone had worked with her at least a little bit already so at least she had a good foundation already. He didn't even know who this girl was, but he was already invested in making sure she was going to be successful. "Alright, miss champion, show me what you've got!" he said as he double checked all of his defenses and hunkered down into them a bit more with his hackles raised and a little bit of a snarl on his lips. He was sure that she couldn't, or wouldn't hopefully, hurt him too much, but he wanted to take it seriously for her so she could feel like it was a real fight. There was only a brief moment of hesitation on her part. It was so very alien to suddenly have someone who wanted to engage with her. Could she really do real practice, and like, a spar thing where they actually exchanged blows? Her practices so far had been less intense than she'd have liked, and she knew it was partly because she was her parent's youngest kid and the only one left hanging around. Apparently bad things happened before they moved to Dragoste, though she was still hazy on the details for now.

Deciding she wasn't going to back down from defending her imaginary title, Caelestis puffed up a bit, lifting her head slightly as she called, "Careful what you wish for!" Yeah, she was gunna fight! And, at least try to win. She wouldn't kid herself into thinking she'd be amazing when she'd never given it her all before.

Double checking her defenses one last time, meticulous with her preparation in the hopes that it's give her a fighting chance, she kept the legs even, hackles raised down her spine, shoulders rolled forward to keep the ruff pushed forward, knees bend lightly to keep her limbs loose and mobile, eyes narrowed further, tail lowered slightly after having raised slightly so it and her head stayed even with her spine. When she felt confident, her lips peeled back again and she growled with renewed determination. Caelestis had no intention of taking this anything but seriously now.

Suddenly, she coiled her hind legs and let them send her charging towards Pyre head on, claws digging into the soil for traction as she attempted to close the distance. Knees bent further and she lowered her body further over her limbs so she could come in low, real low. As she got closer to her opponent, her limbs stopped moving and she tried to slide the last few feet of distance, head snaking to her left, Pyre's right, as she aimed to a bite(albeit a not so serious one), to where the back of his elbow connected to his torso and the flesh was soft there. At the same time she shifted her weight to her other three legs and her tail flagged out to compensate as she lifted her left paw and tried to stomp on his paw and hopefully leave behind a few minor lacerations, since she doubted she had the weight or intention to do much more.

He grinned at her enthusiasm and did a double check of his own defenses as well before she jumped into it in earnest. His ears remained tucked down against his head and his eyes were narrowed into slits. His lips were pulled back in enough of a snarl to show his teeth while his tail remained level with his spine. His chin was tucked down over his throat, his shoulders were rolled forward, and his stuff was bunched around his neck to protect it. His paws were all evenly spaced to give himself a good, solid base and his toes were spread to dig his claws into the dirt. His knees were bent enough to give him a bit more freedom of movement and his neck remained fairly level with his spine as well. Even though he didn't expect this to be a very intense or damaging fight, he wanted to give her the chance to experience a real fight with a ready and willing opponent. Pyre watched as his young opponent launched herself toward him, bracing himself for some kind of impact. Throwing his shoulder into someone was certainly something he would have tried, but it seemed like she had some other ideas. She stopped just short of him and went for the soft skin behind his right elbow. A flick of his eyes saw her lifting her paw to slam it down on top of his. He let both of the attacks land, not that either of them were terribly hard blows. He'd probably have a little bruising on his paw and a scrape behind his elbow, but now she could say she landed some punches. He did it to keep her in close quarters with him and to keep her a bit off balance with her three-legged stance. Since his head was already tucked down from how his defenses were set, he took a quick step forward in an attempt to shove the top of his head into her side and his shoulder into her chest, hoping to shove her off balance and topple her over. The feeling of satisfaction that flooded through her as she landed her attacks was just delightful, as teeth met flesh and her paw found it's target. Look at that, she was fighting! For real! Pride and excitement found themselves expressed in a playful growl that slipped from her ebony lips.

Lips remained drawn back, ears flattened and eyes narrowed. Her weight was even over the three legs still on the ground, tail even with spine and head as well as she pulled back a bit from Pyre, seeking her next target, only to find her balance compromised as his head found her side and she was suddenly standing at an angle to the right. Oh, oh dear. Hitting the ground with a thud that might leave some light bruising along her right side and back, she let the air release from her lungs, gazing up at her still standing opponent, gears turning in her mind.

Rolling hard to her right, throwing her hips harder than her shoulders to achieve a slight semi-circle, she aimed to align herself with Pyre's left leg, perpendicular to the flame-colored man as her paws scrambled to bring her back to a standing position. Front legs gathered up, pushing her body upwards as back legs followed suit. Her body lurched slightly forward and she took the chance to angle her head to her own left and sought to bite Pyre's left front leg halfway between where the upper arm met the shoulder and the wrist. Upper jaws sought purchase on the front of the limb while the lower jaw with it's still needle-like teeth aimed for the back of the limb. This bite was a little more serious, gaining momentum from the swing of her rise from the ground.

As she regained her footing, Caelestis spaced all four limbs evenly beneath herself and bent her knees to lower and steady her center of gravity.
