THESE DAYS GET LONGER STILL

Even though it was around midday, the darkness seemed to surround the once beautiful woods. Soot clung to her paws, seeming to weigh down her tiny bodice. The smell of burnt assaulted her nostrils, causing the girl to sneeze. Why was she here? Because she was hiding, and her brother would never think to look for her here. No life seemed to be able to pass the thick layer of soot that still clung to the landscape, stubbornly refusing to see new growth. Haruka shuddered, the darkness effecting her. But it was better than facing her brother, she knew that he blamed her for their family's death. How could she stay around someone who thought that of her? She simply couldn't be around that.
The faint scent of Tortuga still rested on her fox colored fur, she wasn't even sure if Roman would still allow her in her pack after vanishing for so long. All this rested on her small shoulders, making her feel heavy. She wasn't surrounding herself with the right kind of area to lift her spirits anyways. Would someone be able to save her from this sickness? This guilt and dread? Haruka wasn't sure, perhaps she would have to live like this forever.
