The large black man would emerge from his den holding the same five herbs he had used during the first lesson he had ever given. Those same herbs were the first ones he had taught to his first student, Callitso. Now it was young Kassander's turn to learn them, though he would ask him what he already knew as to not reteach him anything.
Taking a seat only ten yards from the entrance of his den he would raise his muzzle to the sky and let out a call for the boy to come. The shade of his tree would provide a comfortable environment for the pup to learn in, and as Max recalled, this particular pup was the one to bring him cobwebs for Baldur's bloody wound. He would make sure to tell him he had done well.
Until Kassander arrived however, Maximous would simply sit in the shade and watch the birds on the lake. It was not yet dark out as it was only noon, or the fireflies the lake was named after would be hovering above the water and around the trees at the water's edge. Occasionally a fish would leap from the liquid to catch a snack or a frog would stick his or her tongue out as far as it would go to catch their next meal. The man loved to sit and watch the life of the lake, so if it took a long time for the boy to find him, he would not mind.
