After heading more west towards the ocean on a whim, Amos had wandered the western shore for a long while before he saw the island off the coast. It was oddly green for the west. Was there a lot of grass or something over there because it was in the water? Only one way to find out!

Diving headlong into the gently rolling waves, the dark wolf swam hard, eager to see what this place might turn out to be. As he got closer he decided the island was reasonably sized, but not large. His legs paddled hard, muscles just starting to get a bit fatigued when he reached the shore and confirmed what he'd suspected as he got close - the green was sand, not grass! Pulling himself from the water and shaking out his pelt Amos dropped into a bow and inspected the strange sand. He'd seen shiny sand before, but not green. Did it come in more colors?

While the waves did their best to bowl her over and wash her ashore, Ferrous stood as still as a statue and simply let the water rush around her. Small sharks were swimming through the shallows. Why they were this close to shore, she had no idea, but she wasn't about to question it. Nope, she was just going to catch one.

When one finally swam close Ferrous lunged for it. She felt its body slap against the insides of her forelegs as it tried to get away, but it wasn't fast enough. Her teeth clamped down on the end of its tail and the game was on. Uh oh. Immediately she knew she was in trouble. The moment she bit into it the shark began to drag her around. It thrashed her from side to side, the water around them clouding until she couldn't tell what was up anymore.

Clearly she'd underestimated its strength. Briefly she surfaced just long enough to gulp some air before the irate shark drug her back under in a flurry of water and foam.

After eyeballing the weird sand for a bit and scanning the horizon to find much of the island looking pretty barren, Amos would opt to walk along the strange green beach for a while and see if maybe there were weirdly colored sea creatures to go with the sand or something. He didn't have to walk long before he heard splashing water up ahead. Was someone splashing around and enjoying the sun or something? Never one to leave his curiosity unsated, Amos trotted over to see what was going on.

When he found the source of the sound he wasn't sure what to make of it at first. The water was churning but it took a bit before he could make out who or what was in there among the frothy water. Spray flew through the air and then suddenly the head of a darkly colored young wolf would surface. She seemed to have something clutched in her jaws, and that something was putting up a fight! On a whim Amos decided to insert himself into the situation, leaping into the waves without a second thought. He'd have barked a greeting but, he somehow doubted the stranger would hear it.

Ducking under the water he opened his eyes briefly and made out the shape of the shark and wolf with a death grip on it's tail. The salty water stung his eyes so he closed them before swimming closer and chancing a blind bite at the aggravated creature. He managed to sink his fangs into its gills on its right side, quickly lifting the thing towards the surface and stumbling a little closer towards the shore so he could stand while the shark flopped wildly, thrashing in an attempt to free itself. Hopefully the girl who'd grabbed it wouldn't resent the help, Amos just couldn't help himself.

The sandy seafloor was too loose to get a grip on, so no matter how hard she strained backwards Ferrous couldn't pull the shark to shore. The shark, however, had no problem pulling her around. She was several feet from where she first jumped the shark and quickly moving away. At this rate if she didn't drag it in or let go they'd go out to sea together.

Her eyes and nose stung terribly, but she wasn't ready to call it quits. Nope, she was going to drag it in if it killed her!

Okay, okay, perhaps that was a little hyperbolic. But she'd try.

Suddenly the shark was lifted from the water and Ferrous found herself blinking into the sun. Her eyes were bleary so she couldn't see who -or what- exactly had pulled the shark up, but she was just going to go with it and solve that mystery later.

Out of the corner of her eye she made out the vague shape of land and began to jerk the shark (and whatever was on the other end of it) towards shore. The shark ,however, wasn't ready to call it quits so even though it was now firmly captured, it continued to thrash around. Ferrous, still hanging onto its tail, was nearly powerless to resist its pull. Every time it thrashed it unbalanced her and she had to reorient herself before she could start dragging again.

Once he had the the angry shark lifted the wolf on the other end would also rise to the surface and take in some air that was probably much needed by that point. Once they both had themselves collected the girl would start walking towards shore, still firmly holding the tail end. Amos sank his fangs firmly into the sharks tough flesh before walking slowly and deliberately towards shore.

It was slow going, mostly because the shark did not want to go to shore, thrashing and flopping about in violent protest as the wolves carried it along slightly above the water. For a while it was relatively smooth sailing, but then the shark thrashed a little harder. Amos felt his grip slipping, and only had a moment to panic before the creature had ripped itself from his grip and its front end was splashing into the water at his paws.

He felt it's teeth graze his leg and yanked the limb out of reach before growling and plunging his face into the water. It took a moment to get a new hold on the slippery, thrashing thing, and for a while he worried he was gunna get his dumb face bit off. It was probably luck alone that he finally got his jaws around the shark and found a hold solid enough to lift it once more and continue the trek to shore. The water was getting shallower, they were close.

After several moments and many hard blinks Ferrous' vision cleared enough for her to get a good look at her ally. It was another wolf and boy was he big! He was at least a head taller than her and quite possibly twice her weight. And it was a good thing too because the shark didn't seem to know it was beat!

Ferrous saw the male's grip was slipping. She had just enough time to widen her eyes before the shark wrestled free of the stranger's grip and plunged into the water, dragging a tenacious Ferrous with it. She managed to get out a dismayed, "Oh, shi-" before the salty water enveloped her again.

In a last ditch attempt to keep it from getting away, Ferrous wrapped her forelegs around the shark's tail and tried to hook her dewclaws into its slippery skin. Her teeth were still digging into its tail fin but all the thrashing had loosened her grip.

Just as quickly as she was plunged under, Ferrous was lifted out of the water once more. She blinked bleary eyes up at the big guy and grinned as broadly as she could with a shark fin in her mouth. There was no time to waste so after readjusting her bite she started walking backwards again. Out of the corner of her eye she could see the shore.

He felt bad when the poor girl went under after the stupid shark wiggled it's way to freedom, but he admired her dedication to getting her prize to shore, which fueled his desire to help her since the feisty beast seemed to be a bit of a handful. Tail wagging at the smaller girl, he'd continue their march towards the waiting green sands that suddenly looked real welcoming after carrying around this big ol' fish that wasn't too happy about the situation. Amos couldn't blame it, but that didn't mean he was ever gunna let it go before they were on dry land!

But boy it was slow going. Water along slows one's movement, but water with waves that pull at you as you walk? Way more inconvenient, especially when a large wiggly creature is thrashing as you carry it along and try not to wipe out in the water. The shore was so stupid close, but the walk felt like it took ages. It probably took like, a minute or two but impatient young minds don't always gauge time terribly accurately. As the water level dropped below his shoulders he knew they were in the home stretch. He tightened his grip on the shark, tail swinging side to side with excitement. When they finally hit shore, he'd make sure to keep carrying the shark a ways away from shore, grip still tight as his jaws could manage, before he finally dropped the weakened shark. It wasn't looking too great, but that didn't stop Amos from hopping back as it thrashed it's way towards him, jaws parted and rows upon rows of shark teeth looking for a nice bite of wolf to sate it's rage and bloodlust.

"Well, that was fun" Amos laughed.

The nearing shore seemed to renew her  determination. The shark thrashed around again, but this time, instead of letting it drag her around, Ferrous thrashed her head in response. She growled at it - it would not defeat her so easily!

Inch by inch the shark-fighting duo made their way towards shore. As the water receded it became easier and easier to rebut the shark's escape attempts. Ferrous cackled and grinned (as well as she could with a fin in her mouth) up at the big guy. Boy, was she glad he'd shown up! Otherwise the shark might have drug her out to sea.

At last her paws hit dry ground and together the two wolves dropped the shark. She beamed up at him, but the expression was quickly wiped from her face as the shark began to thrash once more. Paying no mind to Amos as he backed away, Ferrous pounced on the shark's back and gleefully mashed it to the ground.

Once the slippery beast was (somewhat) under control, Ferrous scoffed at it. "Ha! Not so big and bad, anymore, are ya!" She grinned crookedly up at Amos. "It was fun - I've always wanted to wrestle a shark." Well, she'd wanted to wrestle one about as long as she'd known of their existence. Which was about an hour. "Now we can check that off our bucket lists, eh?"

Spirited, this one! The smaller woman seemed to have renewed determination as they reached the sand, and Amos couldn't help but be impressed by her spirit. After all, this was the girl who had been trying to wrestle the shark solo when he first arrived. Must be one heck of a wolf to leap in there like that alone.

He offered a distorted smile of his own around the shark's rubbery skin as their victory was made certain. Shark-catching sure wasn't something he'd put on his list of desired activities, but now that he'd done it he thought it might make one hell of a story.

"Have you?" he asked, bursting into amiable laughter at her remark. Shaking his head he'd add, "The fact that that was on yours for any length of time is fantastic. What's your name, Shark slayer? I'm Amos Allantide." Yup, this girl was feisty enough for several wolves. That alone made her pretty likable. Padding over to the only shady spot he could fnd under a withered tree, Amos flopped on his side, green sand sticking to his fur all over though he wasn't much in a mood to worry about that.

"Might wanna make sure it's well and truly dead though," he cautioned her, eyeing the thing some remaining weariness. He didn't intend to kill it for her though, she found it anyways and he was happy letti

Of course she'd put it on her bucket list. Only a boring wolf would look at a shark and think "no way I'm wrestling that before I die". They were exciting looking creatures; all sharp edges and teeth. Honestly everything about them screamed "tackle me" so it wasn't like she could have resisted if she wanted to.

"I mean, 'shark slayer' has an awful nice ring to it..." she joked with a crooked smile. "Name's Ferrous. And I must say, Amos, I'm glad you were there to help haul it in." She would have gotten it eventually. Either by killing out in the water or wrestling it to shore by herself. One way or another, she would have brought it in, but having backup had been nice.

Her attention returned to the shark as Amos found a shady spot to lay in. It wasn't in the best of shape, but it wasn't necessarily a goner either. As far as she could tell their teeth hadn't sunk too far in. When biting it she'd really struggled to break its rubbery skin so the damage probably wasn't too bad.

She canted her head to the side and fixed her attention on its gaping mouth. Every once in awhile its jaw moved like it was trying to breathe.

Ferrous shot a mischievous glance in Amos' direction before grabbing the shark's tail and hauling it back to the water. A few shallow waves rolled over it before it finally found the strength to slither into deeper water. Weakened by the ordeal, it lingered there in the shallows.

Once the shark was free Ferrous turned her attention back to Amos. Grinning unapologetically, she shrugged, then said, "I never said I wanted to kill it."

He cackled at her reply opening, nodding his affirmation as he responded, "That it does," before pausing to repeat her name a couple times in his mind to ensure he remembered it, "It looked like a pretty close battle when I first saw you, might've been more fun to watch you struggle a bit longer." His words were playful, teasing, and accompanied by an impish smirk. In all honesty he was pretty sure he couldn't have left her if he wanted - she looked like the type to almost drown herself going after the shark alone and he might feel bad if she went and did that right next to the beach he was hanging out on.

As if she hadn't already proven she was a bit mad, the girl gave him a look that could give just about anyone a heart attack from the trouble it promised. Unceremoiously the girl hauled the hard-won catch back to the water and set it free. Was his jaw hanging open? It felt like it but he was in too much shock to be certain.

Shaking his head a few times Amos fixed her with an expression somewhere between amusement and amazement. "Okay, now I know you're insane." Realizing somewhere along the line he'd stood up to watch her dragging the shark back, Amos sat and canted his head, sighing yet grinning at the same time. She was an odd one, but he kind of liked the trouble-maker vibe he got from her. "So, what comes after shark slaying? Nothing too mundane I hope?"
