Okay, but hear me out!

The rhythmic thudding of her paws hitting the packed dirt would have been almost soothing - normally she could get quite lost in the sound of her own steps and breathing while she ran - if it weren't for the angry Guar cow snorting and bellowing at her heels. The fat ol' bitch just wouldn't give up, would she? Alis picked up the pace when she swore she felt a horn graze her rump.
She grimaced as she raced towards the water in the distance, red eyes narrowed and lips peeled back in an irritable snarl. If only she'd been quicker to finish off that calf, then she'd be chowing down right now instead of running for her life from an enraged mother. It was almost too tempting to try and call over her shoulder that the calf in question was dead, but Alis feared she'd slow too much and end up feeling the full power of those swinging horns. How'd this beast even have this much stamina?
Practically flying over a pile of driftwood that rested on the sandy shore, she hoped she could out maneuver the pissed off bovine. The animal in question continued her charge, intent on making the wolf pay for making a meal of her offspring.
