She was perfectly quiet, hidden in her thick little bush. She had been in here for a while already and though the busy pup wanted so badly to Get out and find something else to do. She was determined to stay here for as long as it was needed. She was anxiously waiting for her father's return, intent on ambushing him the minute he got close enough to her spot. To pounce on him and surprise him. She grinned her little tail wagged in excitement. Her father would never expect it and she was excited to surprise him. She stayed crouched in the brush covering, eyes and ears alert and taking in her surroundings. Doing her best to remain as quiet as she could and to not rattle the leaves on the bush. Her small ears caught the sound of movement to her right and she slowly turned her head in that direction. Blue eyes peered out of a small break in the leaves looking for the familiar coat pattern of her father. The approach grew closer and closer and she readied herself for a pounce. Once it was right in front of the bush she made her move. Springing through the bush with the loudest, cutest puppy growl she could muster, attempting to ambush her father. It took little more than an hour to catch the rabbit once Brandr had tracked it to its den. The creature, soon to be called 'lunch', swung from his jaws as he headed back toward the den where his mate and pups were. The meal was more for his children than either parent. He hoped to get them going on solid meat fresh from the bone instead of the regurgitated stuff they'd been using to wean the younglings off of mother's milk. Later he'd see if he could catch something for himself and Corentine. There was a herd of deer that had been lingering in the area. Several of the does were fat with calves that would be ripe for the taking if he timed his hunts correctly. Brandr soon saw the glistening waters that marked his new home. As he neared the brush the rustle of movement caught his attention and he slowed, nostrils flaring as he gathered the scent on the wind. Brandr grinned. The wind was in his favor now and he recognized the scent of his daughter but he walked ahead, pretending not to have noticed anything. When she sprang out from the brush with the cutest little grown he gasped, dropping the rabbit, stumbling back so quickly he fell over. Rolling onto his back he let out a laugh. "Spirits above! She had no idea that her father knew, she was convinced that she had gotten him good. He had dropped his kill, stumbled back, and fell over. Those reactions were plenty proof for her little mind that her skills were improving, that she had gotten her father good. As he rolled onto her back she attempted to crawl onto him with another little growl, her tail still wagging. Although she couldn't keep her balance and ended up rolling back onto the ground beside him. She was on her back as well and her bright blue eyes looked to her father's face. She grinned at his words. "Of course! I have to practice so I get be a strong hunter like you daddy!" she exclaimed enthusiastically. She rolled over onto her tummy and glanced over to the rabbit he had dropped and then back to him. "What's ya bring us today daddy," she asked. "Lucine Talk", & 'Lucine Think"

Brandr propped himself up and gazed adoringly at his daughter. Even now it was so hard to believe he was actually a father, especially to such a sweet, little girl. Why did time move so quickly. He leaned over to lick affectionately at his daughter's ears. "And so you shall be! You'll grow to be an amazing hunter Lucine. I can see it now." He rolled carefully onto his belly and stood to shake out his coat. Turning he picked up the rabbit and gently set it down between them. "This is a rabbit, Lucine. Very fast and tricky to catch but also quite tasty. You've had bits of the meat before but today, I think we'll give you some practice before lunch. The object is simple. Catch the rabbit and take it from me." Swiftly he bent down and seized the rabbit head in his jaws then off he went, his head slightly bent so that the hind legs of the rabbit dragged on the ground.
