Wild Pack Of Family Dogs

Dainty, mostly hairless paws srctched lightly at the dirt, digging for- well, anything. Food, water, anything she would need to make it through another day. She was starving, he belly, covered in thin wisps of hair growled and twisted painfully as she dug through the melting frost. Ugh. Snow. She hated snow more than anything else, it was quite possibly the single most prominent reminder that the Arabian wolf was far from her home in the desert. If it wasn't that it was the huge prey and the green grass. Such an ugly color for grass to be. She missed the honey kissed blades, the sun drenched rocks that hid smorgasbords, and heat so thick it could be cut with a knife. But this was not home. There was green grass, the rocks hid nothing but crickets and the heat was cut through by gentle breezes. She shook herself, sending her horde of lice and fleas flying about.

She was not fond of leaving Covari, and more importantly Sibelle's side. Her master was kind to her, but Orchid had asked her to go and collect herbs for the russet queen. She had looked to Sibelle for permission, and the dame allowed her to go. She didn't like it though, the small fae didn't like wandering away from her. Strange for a slave to say, but she didn't mind Sibelle's claimed. She was a caring wolf though, she took care of Ekko and treated her more like a friend than a lower being. It was a breath of fresh air for the girl, after so many had beaten and bruised her.
The Ethiopian wolf sunk low to the ground as she wandered into unknown territory, her one hearing ear straining for sound. Pale blue eyes were wide and searching as she walked around, sniffing for the herb that she had set out to find. Something else came into view, more like someone else. Freezing, she let out a soft yip and sunk to the earth, pressing her belly flat against the landscape. Her ears fell flat upon her skull as she prayed that the other did not see her. She didn't need a confrontation, not away from all that she knew.

The yip reached her ears before her eyes could catch the movement of russet fur. A snarl played on her lips as she crept towards the commotion. The last thing she needed was another male wolf trying to "Make friends" with her. She practically spat at the thought. Her tail raised and the long hairs on her neck stood on end. "Show yourself!" She screamed, drool dribbling from her gums and onto the ground. She had no time for games, no time to waste on fools. She needed to rejoin a pack, and with Valhalla all but gone, the leading house no longer ruling it, she would seek refuge anywhere else. A healer had no place leading a pack. They were too softhearted, too feint, too weak. She shook the thought from her mind and barked angrily, demanding that the foreigner show itself.

The small female prayed that she had not been heard, but of course no one was listening to them. She heard the other female let out a snarl and she sunk even lower to the ground, wishing it would just swallow her whole. But no, it didn't even have the grace to do that for her. The dame screamed at her to make herself seen, so Ekko slunk out of the bush and hugged the earth, her pale blue eyes downcast. She did not say anything as her short tail tucked between her legs, ears laying flat against her skull as she attempted to hide the ugly scar on her face. If Ekko had been standing at full height she would actually be taller than this stranger, which never happened. But she did not move, only let a small whine pass through her black lips. She wished that she had not left her sweet Sibelle, and that she was here now to protect her. For once in her life, she actually relayed on another to keep her company, and she longed for the russet queen.

She huffed at the pathetic sight of the other wolf. "Is this some sort of joke?" She growled, claws digging into the earth. She'd had far too much in her life to take jokes lightly. Unless it was an ambush! Quickly she wheeled around and searched for any sign of another wolf. Any movement at all would mean death for the red wolf or at least a hostage situation. She looked back at the stranger and snarled, racing toward her. She stopped just short of touching her and screamed "IS THIS A TRAP OR NOT?! SPEAK BEFORE I CRUSH YOUR SPINE!"

The female asked if this was a joke and Ekko firmly shook her head. Why would she joke about this? She was frightened, and she wanted Sibelle by her side. Shaking and quivering she let out another soft whine. Soon her ear was being yelled in and Ekko flipped on her back, showing her belly to the female in utter submission. "Its not a trap." She managed to squeak out, her tail tucked between her legs as her pale blue eyes slid shut. Was this it? Was this female going to finally end her miserable life? She could almost see her pups, ready to greet her and bring her to the other side. Ekko's eyes squeezed shut real tight until she could see red, yet she would not fight if this woman chose to.

Her ears shot up at the threat. It was a trap. She had no idea what they would want to do with her, but any reasoning had long since left her mind. She knew only that these wolves meant harm to her and she would not bow to them like the simpering bitch behind her had. "And who are you? She snarled, eyes locked on the emerald green flecks of her opponent. She knew that if she had to she would fight. She was likely to lose but she would fight.
