I Losted
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fawn was having a wonderful day playing with her siblings and chasing butterflies. In fact, she couldn't think of a better day so far in her short life. It would all change, however, when she wrestled free from her siblings to chase a huge pretty blue butterfly. So engrossed in following and trying to catch it, she hadn't noticed that she crossed the pack boundaries. She jumped and pounced and yipped as she sought to try and catch the elusive creature, all sense of time had been lost to her. She never realized how far past the borders she had gone, nor for how long she was out. She could have gone further, but luckily for her, the butterfly finally landed on a rock near a cave entrance. (Not that she noticed that either since her eyes were exclusively on the butterfly). Panting, the small pup crouched low with her rump high in the air. She wiggled her butt as she prepared to pounce, and when she did, she was nowhere near close enough to catch it! Her paws landed with a thud and the butterfly floated back into the air, except this time, it flew into the cavern.
Without thinking, she chased after it into the cavern with only the dying light of the sun outside to guide her until she had gone far enough that it turned pitch black. She was several yards inside the cavern, and when she realized that she could no longer see where she was, she realized just how much trouble she was in. "Uh oh..." She turned around to try and find her way out, but she soon realized that she couldn't find where she had come in from. Scared and confused, she nosed along the walls, unknowingly going a bit further into the cavern with each turn.
After what felt like forever, she saw a glow up ahead and she headed towards the light. She was cold, hungry, and scared. She thought the light was the way out, but when she got to the glowing room, it was just a bunch of weird looking glowing plant things. Whimpering, she looked around as she tried to figure out how to get out of here. Was she lost forever!? Was this her fate? Oh! She should have been paying more attention to where she was going! She slunk towards the center of the large room, her whines and whimpers echoing throughout the cavern. When she neared the center, she tripped over a small collection of crystallized rocks. Fawn picked herself up and sat right there, curling herself up into a ball as she stared at the quartz crystals. They sure were pretty! And for a moment, she almost forgot that she was lost and alone..."I gotta show Da--" Oh...right... The realization that she was lost and alone hit harder then ever now. "D-Daaaadddyyy!! Moooommmyyy!!" She cried out, ears falling back as her voice echoed all around her. She wanted to go home! The girl sat there, crying loudly and hoped that someone would find her.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
The girl spared no thought of calling her parents or any of the other pack members, only of returning her sister safely to their den, and took off after her sister.
“Fawn!” She called as she entered the cave, and immediately caught the sound of her smaller sibling’s soft cries and whimpers.“I’m coming!” She yelled frantically and plunged into the darkness, unafraid of whatever potential dangers she might encounter.
At first she tried to follow her sister’s cries but as she moved further and further into the cavern with no sign of her speckled sister she became more and more frantic. “FAWN!!” She called again, feeling her confidence wane and her panic start to set in. She dashed anxiously between stalagmites and around outcroppings of crystals and bushels of glowing mushrooms, abandoning any sense of direction for the singular purpose of finding her lost sister.
It was by sheer luck and perhaps her own frenzied senses acting on her behalf that as she charged blindly through the semidarkness, she ran bodily into her sister’s smaller frame and tumbled ass over teakettle onto her back. “Fawn! I found you!” She said elatedly once she regained full use of her senses. She bowled her frightened sister over, covering her with comforting licks and pressing her chin against her jaw soothingly. The fact that both of them were now hopelessly lost with no assurance that anyone would find them was gone and instead she took comfort knowing that neither herself nor her sister were in the frightening cave alone. |
It was Corentine's turn to watch the kids, giving Brandr a much needed break. He had no duties to take care of for Celestial today and so he thought he'd take the time to travel and familiarize himself with the western territories. Brandr started north in a round about sort of way, trying to avoid the most barren parts of the terrain as the sun rose ever higher. Summer would be coming to an end soon and he could scarcely believe how much time had flown by. His kids would soon be nine months old, swiftly approaching a year and then what would they do? He'd kept close to Celestial, keeping an ear out for the condition of Abaven only to find they had been liberated. The Abraxas wolf had left and now another was in his place who bore no connection to the invaders. All was well… at least for now. Brandr doubted the Abraxas would be silent for long but the moment of relief lifted a weight off his shoulders. When the children were a bit over a year he was debating about starting a nomadic group and traveling with his family. There was just so much to think about.
Panting Brandr eyed an opening in the mountainous area he was traversing. It was almost high noon and he was far to hot for comfort. Slipping into the cavern he let out a sigh of relief. The cool air felt good, maybe he ought to do some exploring while he was in here? Brandr had just started to move deeper into the cavern when he heard a pup scream. His fur stood right on end. Had he imagined it? Throwing caution to the wind Brandr raced in what he thought was the direction of the yell. He could dimly hear voices and as he turned sharply to follow the sound he stumbled and tumbled into a small cavern that was lit with the strange glow of some eerie mushrooms.
Shaking his head in an effort to regain his senses he spied two young girls. "Was it you who yelled? Are you alright?" He looked around futilely for the parents of the pups all the while hoping they weren't injured. Corentine was a healer but Brandr barely knew enough to scrape by and he certainly didn't have anything on him to help. Brandr turned to squint at the opening he'd fallen through into this strange cavern. Crap… he hadn't been paying the best attention as he ran to the rescue. He sure hoped he could get all of them out again.

Fawn gets a treat!
There's no question that Fawn's gotten herself lost in the Glowshroom Caverns, but then again, can you really blame her? Exploring the caverns is no small feat, even for a fully grown wolf, let alone a young pup! Luckily enough there are some adults just around the corner to come to her rescue. Fawn will get +5 Navigation points for exploring the Glowshroom Cavern with (1) more navigation post!
Brandr gets a treat!
As all good hunters know, the art of hunting isn't only about the thrill of the chase, but instead also about how carefully one can track their chosen target. Even though Brandr isn't hunting prey right now, he is still trying to track someone down - which is a valuable skill in itself. If Brandr can find Fawn in (1) more post, he will gain +5 hunting points for tracking another wolf!
Valanga gets a trick! Despite finding her sister in this dimly lit cavern, it seems as though luck isn't completely on her side today. She feels something crawling across her paw, before noticing that it is a particularly large bug. Ick! Valanga gets a bad event!
Brandr shook the dust from his coat and carefully made his way over toward the girls, relying on his sense of smell more than his eyes to find them in the dimly lit cave. When he did he realized they were both about the same age, with lovely earthen coats and sky blue eyes and they were definitely far too young to be here all along. "What are you girls doing down here?" Movement caught his attention and he turned to see another male enter the cave. His face showed concern as he rushed right past Brandr to the pair, calling them by their names. Brandr let out a sigh of relief. He could tell from the scent that the man and the pups were from the same pack. "Thank goodness. I'm glad someone's here for them. I was starting to fear the worst. My name is Brandr Scylding of Celestial. Do you need any help or can you take it from here?"
"Talk"
She was scared, huddling where she was as she waited for someone to rescue her. It started to feel like forever though. And not being able to see the sky, she had no idea if it was day or not. She had no sense of time yet, so for all she knew she could have been here forever! She warily glanced around her, deciding to investigate some of the glowing mushrooms that grew nearby. With tentative steps, she scuttled over to the glowing mushrooms and gently nosed them. They smelled earthy, and as she looked around more at the soft glowing light around her, she didn't feel as scared anymore. She walked a circle around the cave, poking and prodding the mushrooms as she passed before she settled down where she had first stopped. It didn't take long before she heard a familiar voice echoing around her, but she couldn't tell where it was coming from. "Val?" She whimpered. Before she knew it, something burst out of the darkness and right into her, knocking her to the ground. Before she knew it, Val was there and trying to comfort her. "Val!" Oh it was so good to see her! But now...they were both lost. Or so she thought.
A stranger appeared, asking if they were alright. "N-not hurt, just losted! Do you know where my daddy is?" She whined while she huddled against her sister. She wanted to get out of here, but she didn't know the way out. As if by some miracle, her father appeared through the darkness and she lit up. She raced right towards him, throwing herself against him as she covered him with kisses. "Daddy! I got losted! Val came to save me, and then we were both Losted, and then this wolf came and found us, and now you're here!" She was excited to see her father. It meant she would not be lost anymore. She turned to the man who called himself Brandr, "Thank you Mr. Brandr for finding us! You're a real nice woof," She smiled at him and wagged her tail.
