Land of Awe

Large white paws carried the massive Destruction through the frozen North. He had become accustomed to the warmth of the eastern lands but he was thankful for his thick coat in the blustery wind. He hadn’t seen as much of his ancestral home as he had hoped when he decided to go North. Everything here was unknown to him, not that he had seen the east before but he had heard so many stories. A flurry of snow whipped around him, disguising his pale pelt in the scenery. A comfortable feeling settled over him, and he felt himself much more at ease here than in the lush green of the east. He never would have expected such a revelation but here he was.
His pace was slow and relaxed, he observed the lands around him. Everything was so foreign, the trees were different the landscape alien. Even the prey animals were odd, so much larger than what mostly resided south of here. He found himself captivated by the bull elk that crested a ridge on the horizon. It bugled powerfully as its hinds bustled around him. Song stood still and admired the power of the beast, not wanting to be on the pointy end of such an animal.

Wishing to continue to familiarize himself with the lands around Fyri, Ig had set off after a short patrol and a failed hunt. Given his past, Ignatius could safely assume conflict would be somewhere on the horizon. Knowing the terrain better would serve him well. So he decided to return to the woods next to the Redwood Forest and continue learning his way around. The added benefit of traveling around frequently was that he'd get far more opportunities to speak to others this way. Not everyone would find their ways to the border or wish to call to him if they did, some wolves were too timid for that, and some might be more likely to consider joining if they got to meet him elsewhere first and learn what he was like.
It was a big change to get used to; going from usually avoiding interaction to seeking others out actively was quite the shift. It was good though, better since he was doing things his own way for once. Wandering down one winding game trail, Ig listened to the birds chirping in the branches above, interrupted by the occasional chattering of a squirrel or chipmunk. He noticed that there was a bit more frost today layering everything. He sighed before sucking in another breath of crisp autumn air. It would be best to prioritize hunting elk and gathering as much of the remaining herbs before heavy snow began. The time left to prepare would be shorter in the north.
Speaking of the elk, he spotted a small group of them shuffling along a small rise ahead of him. For a moment he watched them quietly, but after a bit one inevitably seemed to catch his scent and they quickly began bounding away, leaving him seemingly alone with his thoughts.

Song stood still as he watched the impressive animals for a moment longer before they began their escape. He had never tasted of an elk’s flesh but he was sure they were similar to the fallow and white tail he was used to. With his point of concentration gone Song took back up his steady lope before the scent of wolf caught him. Again he paused, brilliant blue eyes searching for the other of his own species. When he caught his form Song found himself slightly stunned.
Just as impressive as the massive elk the man was swathed in a coat of flame. There were markings of ocean blue as well. While the members of his family were beautiful in their own right this man held a spectacular image. For a moment he wasn’t sure what to do, but he was curious about this stranger andbegan to make an approach after letting out a swift bark to let him know of his presence.

A bark alerted Ignatius to the presence of the other wolf, causing him to turn his head and search for the other. Another man with ivory fur, golden markings and eyes the color of a crisp and clear northern sky was making his way closer. With a few friendly wags of his tail, Ignatius turned to take a few strides closer, dipping his head in greeting once they were within easy speaking distance.
"Greetings," the walking flame offered just before he got comfortably close and came to a halt. "Enjoying the northern scenery?" He glanced in the direction the elk had gone, a light smile on his lips. These lands would never cease to be spectacular, would they? He could only imagine how much more amazing it was when the snow really got going. Tough, but beautiful.

Though cold here in the north the day was clear, there was a bit of a breeze but Song was comfortable under the sun’s shine. He didn’t hesitate in helping close the distance with the brightly colored wolf he’d spotted, though he felt about as comfortable with the stranger as he might have felt with the elk. He was almost foreign in appearance, but also an incredible sight. ”Hello,” Song offered back, relieved to be given such comfortable speech. ”Indeed, the elk that live here are magnificent.” He mentioned as he looked the direction they’d fled, not even thinking about the fact that this stranger might not have seen the animals. ”Watching the sun set over an ice field has been my favorite experience though.” He offered with out remembering to give his name.

Nodding along with the other wolf's words, Ignatius had to agree. If he were to give his honest opinion, he was being more and more thoroughly convinced as the days went by that everything was better in the north. The creatures that resided there were as rugged and beautiful as the landscape. "They are impressive. I tend to have a healthy respect for anything with antlers or horns though," he mused, thinking back to one particularly bad run-in with one such antlered creature orchestrated by his... wild sibling. The antlers on Boreas' prey tended to look a little bit nicer than those he'd known growing up though.
"Mm, that does sound like quite the sight. You aren't from the north, are you?" he asked, hedging a guess. It seemed like the odds were in favor of him being correct as far as Ignatius was concerned. "I'm not either," he added, "But it's made a nice home so far, I highly recommend it for anyone with a thick enough pelt."

The conversation between the two was rather easy despite how intimidating talking to such a brilliant wolf might be. They were both impressed with the fauna here, as his companion mentioned they highly respected anything with horns or antlers. Song chuckled, not knowing the story the man conjured in his mind but guessing at some kind of encounter with the pointy end of one of the animals. He perked his ears as the other offered him a question, he wasn’t from the north. No, he was not but it seemed his newly met acquaintance was not either.
Song shook his head, ”No, I’m not from anywhere near here.” He told him, alluding to his birthplace. Ahlon was the ancestral home of the Destruction family, and like his grandmother before him he’d been born there. ”Song Destruction, by the way. I’ve been enjoying it more than I expected. I may have to set up camp somewhere I’ve become so fond.” He chuckled softly. ”Know of any good places? You seem to have more knowledge of the area than myself.”

Confirming that he wasn't from the north, the man who'd introduce himself as Song would go on to say he was interested in staying in the frozen lands. Interest piqued, Ignatius took a moment to consider things before replying, "Good to meet you, Song Destruction. My name is Ignatius Agnivo." His friendly expression took on an ever so slight hint of playfulness as he continued, "That depends. If you're the sort to enjoy the company of others perhaps you might be interested in my pack? It's new, but the wolves we have so far are all fantastic and my hope is it will become like a family to all the members in time."

His new acquaintance took a moment to answer, but he looked interested in Song’s words. The alabaster wolf waited patiently, his pale blue gaze resting on Ignatius as he pondered for a moment. He was given a name, and Song was quick to file it away in his memory for later use. He hadn’t expected the man to offer a place for him in the pack he’d only recently created. Song’s features tilted curiously at the offer. Song didn’t know it but Ignatius sounded very much like his name sake when she ruled a pack. The goal was to be a close family. Song couldn’t help but smile at the thought, and nodded.
He needed structure and a place to keep his attentions. A pack would be a new adventure and a great endeavor. Of course he had originally intended to find family, but the North called to him and he planned to answer. ”I would like that, Ignatius.” He started, feeling an excitement in his chest at his spur of the moment decision. ”I trained as a warrior for a time before coming here if you’re in need.” He didn’t know where he might be most useful to the alpha. ”I’m a jack of all trades though.” He was a decent hunter and navigator as well.

Glad to see he wasn't the only creature of impulse present, Ig felt a wide grin creeping across his features as Song accepted the offer easily. "Fantastic," he replied with a wag of his tail. That spark of excitement he saw in Song was mirrored in Ig's features immediately. Funnily enough, he never could have predicted actually enjoying becoming a leader and building a pack.
"We absolutely need warriors, and wolves who can do a bit of everything. If you want your main responsibilities to be as a warrior that works for me. You can decide now, or worry about it later. How about for now we head over and I show you around?"
