The sky wept in a silent drizzle. It felt more as though Valkorion were walking through a misty fog than rain. The day was gray; the cloud the wolf was traveling though blotting out the sun. It didn't bother the smoldering brute, he was content with the weather, it matched his soul. There was a strange comfort in this fact. Some might have found it depressing, but the fallen Agnivo found it refreshing. He was cooled by the touch of the cloud. The way the particles of water clung to his pelt as if they were attracted to him by a magnet. It left his scent muted.

The wolf's tongue flicked over the damp earth. It was a quick motion as he inhaled. There was not much he could gather from the moist earth. A sigh left his chest as his head rose. Blood soaked eyes narrowed as he examined the small meadow. It was lined by rows of tall trees, their color fading from bright green to brilliant reds. In the Southwest, rising above the trees, the peaks of old stoned remains. It peaked his interests. The things that the humans left in their wake had always intrigued the man.

Valkorion stood still, just his chest moved as he breathed deeply. He hardly blinked, only when the droplets on his lids grew heavy did he let his eyes flutter. He was content with watching the way the clouds moved above the trees, the way they billowed around the castle, and swallowed the rest of the horizon.

"Let the darkness sleep"

"ARRRRRRRG!"

Her frustrated cry shattered the peace of the silent grove, sending small birds off into the sky to seek out new perches as the girl stamped her paw in the damp, almost muddy soil and threw back her head in a near tantrum. Her baby blue eyes were alight with icy rage as she cast a withering glare down at the tattered plant. She'd been trying to dig it up to bring back home. But then this crazy looking bird had landed nearby and she'd been distracted while digging and accidentally clawed apart some of it.

Scowling down at the herb, Seiran tried to decide how much of it was still usable. She pulled at the bits that were ripped apart, setting them aside and deciding that at the very least she could dry them and use them like normal. Now, hmm... There was a bit that was still alright, if she could just dig up the roots without messing up again she could bring the whole mess home. Still, Seiran was mentally kicking herself for not focusing.

Grumbling quiet curses and reprimands to herself, the young wolf continued her work, unaware that there was anyone else nearby.

The way the rain played a soft melody of pitter-patter on the soggy earth brought tranquility to the man. It eased him into a subdued state. The combination of the cool autumn air was the cherry on top of it all. It almost brought a smile to his muzzle.

Frustration broke the serene atmosphere. The wings of frightened birds beat at the rainy air as their caws and chirps sounded the alarm. The wolf blinked rapidly, his brow furrowing as he pinpointed the source of this disturbance. Not too far a darken figure grumbled to themselves. The male's furrowed crown shifted as one brow rose in contemplation. She seemed quite vexed by the plant at her paws. It seemed like the perfect time for Valkorion to interrupt her little chore.

He covered the ground fairly quickly, but he did not rush. Perhaps she noticed his fiery figuring strolling through the waterlogged meadow, or maybe she remained transfixed on her task at hand. From her diligent excavating, he would have bet on the latter. "Rather a soggy day to be out herb hunting," his voice was deep and utterly calm. He knew the wet soil made it easier to pull the roots free, but it could also be a double-edged sword. "Is there a deadline for this task, or did opportunity strike?" He asked, curious of her answer and if her irritation spilled over to the innocent bypasser.

"Let the darkness sleep"

Evil characters do evil things. Be warned, you thread with a psychopath; anything is possible.

Busying herself with the task at hand, it was a miricale that she even managed to hear any of the pawsteps of the approaching stranger. Of course, she only heard him once he was already upon her, just in time to look up with an uncertain and suspicious expression on her face as the man would comment, "Rather a soggy day to be out herb hunting," and earned an unamused huff from the girl as she assessed him to not be an immediate threat and so turned back to trying to dig at and salvage what she could of her herbs.

"Guess it is," she murmured, barely giving him any thought until he continued. Ceasing her activity once more, Seiran turned back to the man and offered him a casual shrug as the previous irritation was forgotten in favor of the chance to become the center of someone's attention and brag a little. "Maybe a little of both. I'm making my own garden and I need to collect more herbs that don't already grow at home. It's... sort of trial and error to find out what I can keep alive in a new place though."
