Cyrus Rook

The midday sun was warn upon his back as he explored a bit further north. He could smell the salt of the sea on the air, but he decided that could wait until later; gulls and pipers were common and uninteresting enough. The large stone ruins had seemed interesting, but his throat drove him to the lake first. The thick vegetation surrounding the lake was turning gold and brown, and felt stiff and brittle as he pushed himself through. He kept his nose pointed down to avoid any cuts, and just used his shoulders to muscle through. When his paws met the soft sand, he looked up and let out a sigh of relief.

The water was cold on his tongue, and felt wonderful on his parched throat. Lime eyes lifted to glance around the calm water, wondering if there would be any interesting prey linger in the reeds. Waterfowl had probably migrated by now, so that would leave the wintering birds. The tip of his tail flickered back and forth as he pondered, eventually rising from the water's surface. Droplets dripped down his chin but he paid them no mind, eyes wandering from the distant shore to the sky above.

"Mayhaps this was the wrong season to come here... Figures. Winter isn't the best huntin' season... Spring is though. I can stay busy til then I'm guessin'..."

His lips puffed out in a huff, weight shifting from one paw to the other as he thought out loud.

A Wild Santa Paws Appears!

What's that? Is it Lil Ardy dressed up as Santa? No, silly, it's Santa Paws!

Already in the Christmas spirit, Lil Ardy - err, Santa Paws, can be seen dragging a large bag of gifts behind her. As she approaches Cyrus, she rummages through her things and tosses a bundle of gemstones at him.

100 Gemstones have been added to your credits!

It had been awhile since Korinna had caught up with Tyranis, but she intended to soon. She wasn't overly hopeful about the prospect of his pack coming together, but that was less a judgment call on him and moreso because she was willing to let herself be disappointed again. Until then, she was sticking relatively close to Mount Volkan - if only because these lands were more familiar to her - at least until something more interesting pulled her elsewhere. In search of prey herself, she had headed East, veering around the volcano's eastern edge until she saw the sparkling lake in the distance. These lands, perhaps while recently quite luscious, were far less so now. The grass was slowly dying, preparing to wilt for the winter and return in the spring, and a land that had once been a gorgeous shade of green now appeared much more brown and drab.

The lake wasn't the only thing that caught her attention, no; from the distance she could see the figure of someone up ahead, leaning down to drink. Feeling a prickling of mischief in the back of her mind, she started toward the lake, veering around the male so that he presence would hopefully go unnoticed. Of course, sneaking up on someone was a difficult feat, especially with a build as large as Kori's, and trekking through dried grass without making a noise wasn't exactly easy, either. She caught the tail end of his words, just barely, though couldn't quite make out what he was saying as she slowly crept closer. "You always talk to yourself?" The dark female asked suddenly, quite a bit more loudly than was necessary, obviously trying to startle him from behind.

Cyrus Rook

The sun could have fallen right on him and Cyrus would have paid no mind. Previous trails he had taken were lighting up in his mind's map, looking back the way he had come and perhaps where he had yet to go. Those areas were fuzzy and dark, but he'd clear them eventually. A loud voice shattered the map in his mind's eye, and his voice caught in his throat as he spun around to face the offending wolf. Heart beating a mile a minute, he panted as he glanced over the giant that stood near him. She had a good half foot on him, at least, and he was woefully caught unprepared. Perhaps this new land wasn't in his best interests.

Her words didn't register until a few moments later, when she obviously didn't lunge at him. Cyrus tried his best to calm his breathing, a nervous smile curling the corners of his maw. Lady Luck, you're with me. After a few huffs, he composed himself enough to reply. "Yes, actually. You should try it sometime, 'stead of scaring others half out their wits." After a small whoo-wee! of breath was expelled, he took the time to really look over his assailant. The first feature that was obvious to him was the large scar across her face. He tried not to stare, but it did honestly fascinate him. It look like she had been struck by lightning and won.

Cyrus cleared his throat and began to carefully walk out of the water he had inadvertently backed further into, moving to the stranger's side. He gave her a side glance as he moved by, his tail lifted and dripping brown water while his paws were a bit caked with mud. "You always sneak about?" His eyes dropped to a forepaw as he lifted it and lightly shook it. The thought of having to clean fermented pond muck off himself made his stomach turn.

It was rare to see Kori without at least a glimmer of amusement flickering in her pale eyes, and today was no exception to that rule. She raised a single eyebrow as she regarded him, wondering how he might react to her sudden and admittedly quite rude arrival. As she expected (and hoped) he was thoroughly startled by her loud voice, spinning around with a wild look in his eye. Kori's morals were questionable, and she had no issue in leaving a trail of chaos in her wake, but likewise she was far too selfish to expend energy on really torturing a complete stranger. No, just terrifying him slightly was enough for her for now.

He retorted that yes, he did in fact talk to himself, and she found herself smirking slightly at his sass. She returned the smile, though her own smile was a more impish one. "Why would I do that, though, when it's so much fun?" Her expression widened, and it was hard to tell if she was merely being playful or if her words had... slightly less benevolent intentions. "I mean, what could possibly beat that expression of yours?" A soft chuckle left the boyish woman's lips, though he seemed to compose himself more quickly than she would've hoped. It pleased her that he still seemed slightly frazzled, and she found herself feeling more accomplished than she should at her feat. After a moment her own expression wilted, some of that mischief slowly ebbing away as he asked her another question.

He then asked if she always snuck around. How how he guessed? "I mean, it's one of my many hobbies," Korinna agreed with a shrug, not bothering to argue with him on that point. "Why? That a problem for you?" She watched with amusement as he moved away from the muck he'd inadvertently gotten himself pushed into, wondering just how he'd react if she tackled him straight into it. For now, though, she'd hold her ground and watch him with a wary eye.
