Aerndis was tracking late into the evening. She'd stumbled across the scent of a small herd of whitetail deer and she was hoping to find the location they'd be bedding down in for the night. The trail led her straight into the Orchard where the rich mix of scents started to distract her. One in particular, a strong piney smell caught her attention. She stood there for a moment before turning to follow the floral scent, certain she could pick up the deer trail later. Besides, she'd been tracking them more for the practice having eaten a big meal earlier.

Aerndis focused intensely on the scent, following it right up to the trunk of a large cypress tree that peered above the top of the orchid, a delicate, twisting spire reaching right up to the sky. Moving back a ways she sat at its base, watching the wind stir it's branches while the stars winked playfully at her.

Corvus had gone way farther from home than he'd meant to. He was pretty sure this was as far as he'd ever gone, now that he was thinking of it. The yearling had gotten lost in his own thoughts and ended up traveling well through the day and into the night, and now he'd found himself in the midst of a rather strange terrain. The scents here were nothing like he'd ever encountered before - pungent and sweet and a bit foul all at the same time. The fruit that many of the plants here bore had long since fallen and had begun to rot away on the ground, and Corvus flinched as he stepped into something particularly mushy. Ick! Maybe he'd made a mistake in coming here. Interestingly enough, though, another scent caught his attention. The smell was distinctly piney, but had another aroma to it he couldn't quite place. Glad that the Orchard was faintly illuminated by the stars and moonlight overhead - as well as fact that his eyes had long since adjust to the darkness - Corvus went to investigate. He was surprised when he saw another there, the tree's scent apparently having overpowered the smell of a wolf nearby. "Lookin' at something?" Corvus asked curiously, spending a moment eyeing the wolf with the vibrant coat before glancing back at the tree curiously.

Aerndis could only sit still for so long before it was time to get going. The fall air smelled sweet and it was beckoning her to continue her exploring. The clear night sky was illuminated by the moon as was the Orchard itself. She looked back up at the tree and wondered if there were other cypress trees in the Orchard as well. She got to her feet and shook out her coat. Aerndis was just about to continue her exploration when a voice asked if she was looking at something. she turned to see a large yearling male. She nodded "Yea, I was just looking at this cypress tree. It's really quite something. My name is Aerndis, what is yours? Are you out exploring to?"
