Though Hope is Frail

Rhyme settled down on his favorite place to think, a few jutting rocks that looked out over the rapids. He sighed heavily, relaxing onto the cool stone. Something that didn't happen a lot recently. He started the year as a slave, captive and no longer in control of his destiny. He'd managed to find a way to escape though. Rhyme had delivered himself and his mother into freedom. One of his greatest accomplishments yet. He reunited his mother and father, seeing them together brought joy to his previously devoid life.
Shaye stepped back into his life too, he had been summoned by her call and with little hesitation he joined her. Rhyme hadn't imagined only a few short weeks after that he would be standing as alpha by her side. He tried to forget that they had crossed a line that night when they had gotten much too drunk.
Rhyme easily came to the conclusion he had to stop partaking in alcohol, twice in the last yeahs he had made a similar mistake. Though he could never consider meeting Tana a mistake he didn't know if he could live with himself if she died because of his offspring. They had been far from planned but he hoped desperately they would survive. He suppressed his excitement because of how tragically this pregnancy could end.
The future was yet to be seen, they would either live as a happy little family, or Rhyme would realize his greatest fear. The Imperialis looked up into the star studded sky, the moon was almost full and despite all the turmoil in his mind hope tried to remain alive. It was frail, but hard to kill.
