Life was a very delicate thing, it was born one minute, and gone the next. Quelt hadn't dealt with death very much in his past. All of his family and friends had been living when he left home, Vahva and Hajime had been the only friends he ever had that passed away. Vahva had died from an illness, and Hajime had now, fallen off a cliff a few days ago. Quelt knew that wounds would heal inside of his heart, but it still didn't stop him from feeling a bit of pity inside of his soul for the children the man left behind. They had already lost two mothers from what he heard, and now their father who was trying to make amends with them had died in a tragic accident leaving them to him as their new foster father. His black tail would curl upwards slightly the brute watching the clouds over the sun. Of course he had his supports, but still it felt very empty without the man here by his side.
"I'll have to work harder now, for the both of us. I promise." he said to the sky. Hoping somewhere Hajime heard him. After all Quelt didn't know if there was a place out there for them, but at this point there was no harm in trying right? At least he was getting used to things in Abaven. Though he still needed to tell the alpha of his plans, the promise he made to the wolves he had brought with him. No, he did not wish to rob Bass of his throne, Quelt simply wanted a place to stay until the time came he could try to make a throne of his own. After all, his heart swayed with loyalty to the ones here. Rarely would he settle for a pack, but Irune, Hajime's children. They were all important to him.

After the whole incident at the cliffs, Bass had been working on pushing the horror of it aside. The poor child who had to watch it all, he couldn't even imagine if he were him. So see such a sight of pain for one so young, it must be hard. Hajime and him were not close, but he had still been a member of Abaven that this healing could not protect. So he had put his own health on the line to save the pup, willing to sacrifice himself to save Levi. He would not let the child die as his father had. The whole sadness of the situation was laying heavy on him heart. He no longer felt the pain in his twisted psw, it was nothing compared to Levi's own sorrow.

Bass was about to go to his den to work on clearing his mind when the slate blue and black male caught his attention. Quelt was the one who was not in charge of Hajime's children, and he wanted to help as much as he could. Changing direction he softly padded to the brutes side, smiling sadly at him. "How's Levi?" he asked quietly, sitting beside him and casting his own gaze to the heavens. He had not heard his words, but Bass could only assume that he had been talking to his departed friend. He wanted to offer his condolences, bit he didn't wish to bring up the subject if the Kruni didn't wish to talk about it. So he simply awaited his speech, remaining silent as his golden eyes searched the heavens. Maybe all their answers layed up there.

Quelt's rather beautiful eyes would turn to look at the alpha. For a moment he felt like jumping, in case the stranger heard him speaking to the sky like a mad man. Though he buried these feelings deep inside, the large man shifting slightly with the uncomfortable feeling that he had around someone who was considered above him. The whole reason he left in the first place, was because he felt so restricted. Though still his heart was in the right places, and all he needed was to think about building his relations. Even if he was taller, which he was for most, he raised his head towards the sky again to look at the stars. One of those shining, he believed was Hajime watching them for the idiots they were. "He's fine, for the most part Irune has been a big help with them. But, I have a digging feeling their father dragged them to Abaven when they did not wish to leave their prior home Ebony. In time, many of them will want to return." whole he didn't want to rob Abaven of members, he also did not want to rob the pups of their own choice in a future.
Quelt would turn curiously to Bass, eager to study him, eager to know the story behind that face. As he always did when he met someone new, someone he knew he needed to trust in the near future in case something happened. "I suppose the lot of us are pure strangers to you, we already knew each other when we made the decision to come to Abaven together. Sorry if it seemed we were shutting you out. Everyone has a lot of trouble to settle into. Even before Hajime's death, a woman by the name of Vahva who was important to most of us was taken as a victim of the plague. She was Emma's mother." Quelt would say. Giving a rather long drawn out sigh. He smiled regardless though. "And I'm the one whose supposed to be protecting all of them, and yet I feel the urge to scratch at myself when I'm the presence of an alpha who is considered above me." he would admit to that fact he was not entirely comfortable with him not being at the top of the heiarchy. Yet he was still, very okay with it.

He grinned softly at the male as he turned to face him, although his face was somber he tried to give some sort of warm greeting. These were hard times for the pack, with Abaven being so young and losing their first member. It was even harder because of the little beings he left here, an even more sickening feeling that they had to handle these poor souls. He was grateful for Quelt and Irune looking over the little ones, he wasn't sure what he would have done without them. As he sat down and looked up at the stars, Bass tryes to lean against Quelt for a moment, a simple gesture in hopes to ease some of bos stress. He could tell that the brute was tense, but who wouldn't be after all that had happened?

When Quelt answered his question, he nodded his head slowly. He didn't expect the pups to stay in the lands where their father had died. Plus the spirit of their passed mother was there, it had been their home before they were brought here. "That is a choice we will have to let them make on their own. I wouldn't hold them here, I'm not going to force anyone to stay here when they do not want to." He said softly, turning his gaze from the heavens to the male beside him. He was meaning to extend the same words to mean him, if Quelt wanted to return with them, he would not stop anyone if wished to leave his boarders. "When that time comes - if it ever does - I will escort the young ones to Ebony myself, to ensure that their travel is safe and that they are received well. I have also told a messenger to go to Ebony to inform them of Hajime's passing, I know some there will want to know." Bass knee of the feud between them, when he talked to Katja she had warned him of a so called traitor. Bass had seen no wrong in Hajime, so had not refused to accept him.

Quelt spoke of them shutting him out since he joined, and Bass just shrugged his alabaster shoulders. "Its not my job to pry into your personal information, unless it is harmful towards Abaven. But you are your own wolf, I'm not someone who wants to know all about his members secrets. I would like to know everyone better of course, but not information that they do not wish to share." He said simply, his golden gaze matching his two-toned orbs.He had not known that the group was no stranger to tragedy, which made him feel even worse. The plague had not been too long ago, just last season. Fresh blood has been spilled upon not-yet healed wounds. The Azat sighed softy, shaking his head slowly. That's why Emma must be so standoff-ish.

When the comment was made about Quelt being uncomfortable around him, he couldn't help but laugh. Bass was hardly a harsh guy, for someone to feel that way about him? He supposed that the title didn't help, some people were not good being lead my others. "You don't need to take this on alone Quelt, we are a pack. We are here to help you and to share your burden. It is not your alone to carry, share it with all the members of Abaven. I am sure Harmony or Motif would be happy to watch the little ones, as well as any member. And we are here to protect each other, I will not allow any more harm to fall upon Abaven, not if I can help it." A soft growl bubbled in his throat as he puffed out his chest, trying to make himself look like the big protector man. Laughing and relaxing to a normal position, he smiled at the Mruni. "There is no need to feel uncomfortable around me, I'm not here to charge you head first into problems. I was to help you grow in your fighting knowledge, to be able to unlock whatever strengths you have shoved down there. I'm not just your alpha Quelt, but I wish to be a friend. A shoulder to lean on, and a set of jaws to borrow if needed. I'm here to serve as well has protect, to teach and to expand." He searched Quelts face, trying to see if his words had sunk in.

His bi colored orbs of intense colors that mashed together would come to rest upon those orbs of the alpha. Ears were pulled forward, and in a very fierce intimidating way, he would listen. These habits had been beaten into him as a child, and it was clear cut to see that he was very leader like in nature even if he didn't see it that way. Quelt's tail would shiver at the thought of letting Hajime down with his children. But the fact was, he was not their father, he had no precedence on them other than being their care takers now. As soon as they turned a year, they would be able to make their own decisions. It would not be his place to stand in their way, even if he formally was accepted into the family by spirit. Still, the minds of the children could always change, and as much as he wanted to wish they would stay to see what he may or may not have planned, in time he knew they would realize how they all wanted to act.
Bass would speak nearly as Quelt would have, though not exactly. Yet still, this was one main reason he joined Abaven, it still retained his freedom. He was very keen on freedom, something he craved ever so often. After all, it had been the whole reason he left home. While his sister was here with him, he still felt the need to keep up the act he had placed upon himself. As soon as the speech took off, and finished. Quelt would be silent for a few moments, their gazes still crossed. As the large man would sigh, shifting with the stripes on his back moving with that. He would smile a little bit, letting a chuckle escape his lips. "When I actually speak to you I feel like I'm staring into a mirror. I assure you I have no plans of hurting Abaven, this is my home, or temporary one if I say so that I've decided to come to and decided I liked it. I wish to have my own pack one day, but I won't challenge for any allies or packs that you have good relations with. If I lose, I still want a place here, and in the future I might change my mind. That is if you will let me, I have no problems retaining from my plan to have a pack if you do not wish for it." he would explain his original plans for coming to Abaven. He was no stranger to these worlds of royals after all.
"And I am here to serve, protect and teach as well. My heritage comes from a kingdom of royals. I was the son of one of the Duke's and Duchesses in the kingdom. Not exactly a king and queen but I was treated like a king as a pup to carry on a duty. Some habits die hard though, sometimes I feel the need to take control of things. And I have a slight obsession with the word 'freedom' possibly." Quelt would try to make a light joke at the end of his words. His tail giving a soft wag as he lightly bumped Bass in the shoulder. He himself was completely unaware of how young this alpha was. But even still it wasn't like the age mattered.

He couldn't help but notice the look of domination on Quelt, which amused him for whatever reason. It was easy to see that he was a born leader, and Bass just simply had the determination to set forth and take a pack for himself. Although he wondered about Quelt's story, about why he himself was not an alpha. Since he displayed his domination so clearly, even in front of his Azat. However Bass did not scold him for it, it was a time for mourning and peace, plus he was more curious about the why than mad at his actions. As he peered at the brute, their gazes locked, he wondered if he was appraising him as he was to Quelt's own form. It was not a heated stare down though, at least not in his eyes.

The brute couldn't help but chuckle at the mans words. "A much younger you, I would imagine." He noted, but a single brow rose after his words. Most knew that he was young, but did this wolf know just how young he was? He was skeptical that he did, and so he spoke of his age to Quelt. "You know that I am only a year old, right?" It was not a question asked out of anger or spite, he was more... Amused. He found it funny that most members didn't know just how young their alpha truly was. Bass grew up a lot when he took over Abaven, not all by choice. By putting these responsibilities upon his broad shoulders he forced himself to age, for his soul to grow weary with the struggle he was putting himself through. But for him, it was more than worth it. When Quelt finished his speech however, both pale brows rose in shock. Why was he telling him all of this? It seemed to be pretty private information. He was glad though, pleased that this older male could trust and lean against him. "I thank you for your honesty, and fot not wanting to take my pack. When the time comes, I will be more than happy to assist you. If you lose, I will welcome you back to Abaven with open arms. This is your home Quelt, no matter how far away you may roam." A soft smile graced his black lips as his golden gaze shimmered, his words far beyond his years. He spoke as of there was an old wolf curled within his belly, relaying information to his still expanding mind.

Apparently Bass did not have to wait long to learn of his back story, because he offered it willingly. Ah, so that explained the dominance. "As long as it doesn't come off as challenging, I have np problems with your mannerisms. Alone, its fine. But when the pack is gathered, try to be a bit more reserved if possible." He said teasingly, trying to bring back a light to their seemingly damp conversation. He was always the jester, that would never seem to fade with age. Quelt bumped his shoulder and he jostled the male right back, chuckling softly into the night air. He was enjoying this, it was nice to have another male to,speak with. Usually he was clumped up in girl talk with his sisters.
