They had been tucked away for far to long. They had fled the mainland with the intention of leaving entirely. But then Basanti had gotten sick from the icy waters, forcing them to settle on one of the islands. They had remain a tight bunch, Kylar never leaving her side. The plague had faded away but then their daughter had fallen ill and was slowly returning to her health. Today she had slipped away, lounging lazily on the beach while Basanti slept. A sigh rolled off her tongue as her coral gaze drifted towards the direction of the mainland. They had survived winter, and now spring had taken a hold and slowly the weather was warming. Audits would swivel atop her crown, listening to the sounds of the waves. This was probably the best of the islands in the area, and thankfully it was the one they had stumbled upon while swimming.

Basanti slept, safetly tucked away her den. The girl was growing rapidly and the silver queen couldn't help but smile. But despite the happiness of her daughter, she still mourned the loss of her first daughter. The loss had bubbled in her chest, it sat heavily in her belly, demanding retribution. She felt the familiar tug of needing to hunt. And not the usual kind. Her mouth watered as memories flooded her mind. But what would Kylar think? Demyan was surely gone by now, and Kylar had no idea of her past. Silver limbs stretched across the sand as the woman rolled onto her side. Eyes would flutter close as she relived her glory days. The pleas for mercy, the cries for help, the screams of agony. And all the blood. A wicked grin curled her lips, ivories flashing briefly in the sun. Oh the good ole days.

Cat had left a short while ago to lay on the beach but for the time Kylar would remain with their daughter, allowing the young girl to curl into his side. Her breath still had a bit of a wheeze to it but she was getting better slowly but surely. After loosing Cat's daughter they had stopped their travels as soon as Basanti had shown any signs of sickness. So here they were, trapped on an island per say. At least it was one of the nicer islands, inhabited with prey to hunt. They had survived the winter and that was what mattered. Things could only get better from here right? He would sigh, closing his eyes for a moment before reaching down to lick Basanti's head before slipping out from under her and slinking out of the den. Cat was sitting on the beach not too far away, laying languidly and staring out at the ocean. Yes, it could only get better from here?

The massive beast would move towards the woman, paws sinking heavily in the sand until he came to stand beside her in silence for a moment. Slowly haunches would fall to the ground, followed by forepaws sliding forward and digging gouges into the damp sand. "A bone for your thoughts?" He would ask, voice a low rumble as he laid beside her and followed her gaze out to the ocean. He had some ideas of what she might be thinking but unless she wanted to speak about it he would not breach the subject. Ky had not known Cat's daughter well, had only seen her in passing at pack meetings but still. Kylar knew the feeling of loosing a child. He had not knowing of Vixe's death until they had been about to leave. Vi had confirmed it. There was still a dull ache there, a pain that he was tempted to push away. He had to be there for Cat.

She would not notice his presence until the sand shifted beneath his weight as he laid down. Her gaze would leave the ocean in exchange for his. A small smile would her lips before she turned back to the water. "Do you miss it?" Do you miss the power? She wasn't sure that she did entirely. She missed the high of having power course through her veins, she missed the control of having wolves at her beck and call. But she had thrown it away in a fit of grief. Had it been a mistake? A small part of her longed to return to the mainland, but only for the hunt. Her body was craving the thrill of stalk her prey, bringing down the helpless being and being in control of their very life. Her toes would, kneading the sand as desire shot through her body. She would turn back, looking at Kylar once more, her gaze darkening with a different kind of lust. And yet, he had no idea. Part of her yearned to share this bit of her with him, but her brain said that it was a bad idea. Sturdy limbs would push her over so that she could press herself against him, drowning herself in his heady scent. Her front limbs would drape over his, her nose finding its way to his neck. Eyes slide close as she leaned into him, a sigh rolling off her tongue once more. She remained clued to his side for several moments as she fought to regain some control.

She seemed lost in thoughts, pensive and silent for a time until his presence would draw her out of whatever trance she had been in. Slowly that beautiful gaze would turn towards him and he would reach forward to press his nose into her cheek but she would turn away and speak slowly, words slipping from tongue as easily as silk. Had it been so long since he had heard her speak that he would miss her words so much? "Every day... But not as much as I would miss you. I didn't have to think twice about leaving..." He would pause, not quite understanding the full extent of the statement. He had never really been in power, had never lead the pack beside her. He had never liked the spotlight, preferring to slip through the shadows as the queens knight, preferring to be her shadow and second without anyone really knowing. The massive beast had no loyalties or ties to that pack, it was her who had kept her around. Slowly she would lean into him, nuzzling into his neck before sighing. He would remain upright, instead turning his own gaze to the ocean. "Are you thinking of going back?" It was a valid question he believed, was that why she was asking? Yes they could go somewhere else to seek fame and fortune but... They had already had it here...

He missed it, but he would stay for her. A smile toyed with her dark lips. But what if she wanted to go back? Move their little family again and return to the real world. His question would bounce around in her mind and she didn't answer right away. Her gaze would flicker towards him, mischief and desire bubbling in her gaze. "I want to go back." She would confirm it. This idle life didn't suite her. She needed the high of power, she craved it. She longed for a pack of her own again, one that wasn't ravaged by a plague, one that was strong, a unit, one that would unite beneath her command and rule this pathetic rule. The idea sent a shiver down her spine as her smile grew wider and darker. She would play with the sand, flexing her claws as she appeared thoughtful. "I think they've started to miss us." She would chuckle darkly, unable to help herself. Oh she would need to make a grand entrance, the whole world needed to know of her return. Hackles bristled briefly as the thought of blood shed flashed before her eyes. Muscles flexed beneath her pelt with anticipation.

She was silent for a time, pensive and thoughtful as she weighed her answer and regarded his question. Finally she would shift her gaze to him, an emotion dancing in her eyes that he hadn't seen for a long time. Desire. A smile would curl up the edges of his lips and he would chuckle, a low rumbling around that rolled up his throat. Finally she would speak, voicing what he had already expected. He would not reply, simply nod. If she didn't already know by now that he would move the sun the and moon for her then he didn't know what else he could do. He would follow this woman anywhere, so anything for her. Her next words brought that lazy smile back to his lips and he could chuckle again. "If they haven't we shall carve our names into their hides." It was a promise, to her and to the world. He had never been well known, simply the shadow who had slithered along behind her, an extension of herself. "When do we leave?" He would ask, casting her a sidelong look out of the corner of his eye.

He already knew what she wanted, that much she could tell from his smile and chuckle. And as she assumed, he would agree to follow her back. She would rise, step away from, moving farther down the beach and closer to the water. Ears would tip back as he spoke, a twisted grin pulling at her lips. Yes, they would all remember her. Her tail would flick back and forth, lifted high with pleasure. "Yes, yes we will." She would murmur softly, more to herself than to her lover. She would look back over her shoulder at him, a seductive grin lifting her lips. "Tommorrow." She would purr, her soft lyrics being carried by the wind. Already a sense of power coursed through her veins, sending her heart into a frenzied race. Water would lap gently at her toes, teasing her warm flesh. A pleasurable growl rumbled through her chest, lips lifting a faint snarl. Soon she would rule again, without a doubt, she was not meant to lying in that shadows any longer or ever again.
