Hollow Bodies

She had heard it in the air and felt the thickness of it even now, weeks after her passing. She had seen her brother around but she had yet to offer any sort of comfort or condolences to him...and she wasn't sure why she hesitated in doing so. She couldn't say she was affected at all by one of Jewell's kids passing away. She didn't know any of them save for Celestin, but even then she barely knew him. She never quite got around to getting to know Jewell's kids let alone Jewell herself, and she could only chalk it up to the fact that...well...she didn't really want to. It was nothing against them or Jewell. Nothing against anyone in the pack really...she couldn't explain it, and it was hard for her to even make sense of it. She didn't go to her father to try and sort it out, or anyone for that matter. The only conclusion she could come up with was maybe, just maybe...it was the after-effects of her mother abandoning her. Since her twin brother abandoned her...truth be told, she had been closest to Rory than she had been to anyone else. And since then, she felt like an outsider...
Of course, it didn't help her case that she had been spending more time outside pack lands than in it. And as she lied outside her den with a chilly wind sweeping across the land, she shivered and tucked her paws beneath her chest. She took a deep breath and exhaled, watching the dark grey skies as thick clouds hung over the landscape. Sometimes she wished she could feel bad for one of their pack members passing, but...she just couldn't. And it bothered her immensely. |

Anoixi was waddling away from the mouth of his family's den, wide-eyed. His gaze was lifted skywards watching the dark clouds that threatened to storm above them, that was the way this winter had been going though and even as he was getting older, one more full season away from being a year the boy was still filled with childlike wonder.
Not that he hadn't noticed the strange change in the air lately, some of the wolves around had seemed slower, darker than usual. Like they were held down by a weight they were dragging. As he toddled along he caught sight of his father, a mischievous grin spreading across his features as he dropped into a playful crouch, stalking his father.
The playful stalking stopped however as he realized that he was moving towards a pack member Anoixi didn't really know, instantly he became shyer. Skirting up behind his father, pushing into Frostbite's hind legs to try and hide behind him, peering at the hunched over woman.
"You okay?"
He asked, ignoring that his father had already spoken. He watched with open curiosity if not a bit of hesitance. He sensed a deep sadness from the woman and wanted to help, even though he was also warry of the stranger.

She sighed as she gazed up at the sky, frowning the more she thought about her problem. As the wind shifted, she caught wind of Frostbite nearby. Tearing her eyes away from the sky, the looked to find the larger male coming towards her. "Enjoying this beautiful cold weather," She forced a small smile as she shivered again, "Yeah but I wish it wasn't so cold! She unfurled herself and rose to a sitting position, bi-colored gaze raising to meet his as she fluffed up her fur against the cold air. She was about to open her mouth to speak again when a smaller, younger voice piped up. Gaze fell to the young pup as she realized it was one of Frostbite's kids. "I'm fine, it's just cold is all," A lie of course, but she didn't want to talk about it in front of a child. "How are you? I don't think we've met before," Walk, "Talk" Think |
