Song couldn’t deny how much he enjoyed the winter in the north. His coat had filled out and with his large size he barely noticed the frigid air. He felt like he’d been made to live in the icy tundras. He enjoyed the cover of the giant redwoods today, and though the winter snow was heavy here there were patches of bare ground beneath the giants. Icy white paws carried him over the beds of needles, the rare sunlight glinted off his gilded markings.

His hunting success rate had increased here too, with his white coat he was much more difficult to pick out from the background. The Destruction had managed to escape a few close calls because of it as well. There had been a giant of an ice bear that had lumbered right past him the other day. He’d been curled up, napping in the snow, when the beast shuffled past right in front of his nose. Song had barely breathed when he realized what had happened, and nearly raced out of his coat when the bear was far enough away he could make a hasty retreat.

The thoughts made him smile as he bent his head down to catch the scent of an elk. The old cow hadn’t been able to keep up with her herd and Song had every intention of taking advantage of her weakness to strengthen himself. Bringing his head back up with confidence he searched between the giant trees with his light blue gaze. He couldn’t see her, but couldn’t imagine she was very far away from him. She bedded down more frequently the last couple of days now he only had to find her hiding place.

WHAT’S UP DANGER

ooc. liquid timing this to around the time he first showed up, but I'll keep everything vague

The snow crunched beneath each heavy fall of his massive paws, as he tried to wake himself up. Napping was never a good idea, and his grogginess now only proved it. Keeping himself in a straight line was as good as he could manage right now, so when he all but stepped on another wolf he was understandably shocked. He'd stepped around the thick trunk of a tree, and nearly bowled the stranger over. Which was, obviously not his fault. Wandering around with a white coat, all quiet and shit, what did he expect? Grunting deep in his throat, he tipped over to one side to avoid a full on collision.

Once he was stable, and about half a foot to the left of the stranger, he blinked at him a few times. Amethyst gaze was glazed still from his nap, and he couldn't hide the irritation in his expression. "What are you sneaking around for?" he growled, auds tipping back ever so slightly. Tail swept once, and then twice across his heels in a catlike display of annoyance.

Song slunk along, wary of letting his quarry know his position. His eyes were sharp, but as the galaxy marked man stumbled around the tree he was taken by surprise. As the other wolf sidestepped Song retreated in the opposite direction, avoiding running into his hulking frame. Song looked him over a few times, unsure of why he was so grouchy. Song was ready for a meal, but he wasn’t about to take it out on a stranger. He thought that his activities might have been obvious, but apparently not.

He stood up a bit straighter before answering, ”Hunting. What does it look like?” The beautiful male was either oblivious or lacking in the smarts department. Song’s ears perked as he heard the old cow reveal her hiding place with the sudden onslaught of voices and ran as best she could in the opposite direction. This time it was Song’s turn to growl. ”And there she goes, thanks to you.” He said with out hiding the annoyance in his own voice.

The wandering eyes of the strange male roved over his own form a few times. Typical. However, any comment he might have wanted to make was trapped in the thick fog that was still lingering after his terrible nap in the trees. ”Hunting. What does it look like?” he snapped. Then, as if on cue, the thundering of cloven hooves retreated into the trees. The male, who was of equal proportions to himself, growled. ”And there she goes, thanks to you.” he let the words drop with a thick coating of venom. Alabaster tipped auds flattened against his skull, muzzle contorting into a half-snarl. He debated attacking. He wasn't fully awake, but he'd been fights under worse conditions.

"Oh, this is my doing?" the titan snapped in return, rumbling vocals booming suddenly in the otherwise quiet forest. "Are you certain that perhaps the spirits simply do not favour your success, friend?" the quip fell with the ring of sarcasm, elevated around the word friend with no attempt to reign in his temper. Gaze rolled away from the pallid features of the strange male in favour of locking onto the trunk of the tree he'd just skirted around. "Духовите ме проколнуваат, ова е срање." he muttered to himself. One deep breath in, and out. The fog was clearing. His temper didn't loosen its grip on his muscles, tensed and ready to spring.

The cosmic male shook his head, more as a commentary upon his luck than anything else. "I'll let you get back to it, then." he grunted, shaking out his thick ruff as he turned to disappear back into the thick woods.

Denial, not even a hint of an apology from the other wolf. Song scowled at the man's words, feeling his brows knit as the other tried to call him friend. Song almost refuted the sarcastic title, but he fought to reign in his rudeness. He had a pack to represent, and being an asshole because he had to wait another evening for his prize wouldn't look good on Fyri.

He huffed heavily, letting the annoyance flow back out of him as the tasked giant muttered something unintelligible. Song perked his ears, wondering if he had missed something important or the man was cursing him.

"Not even an offer to help." Song uttered quietly to himself as he was about to be left on his own again. He turned towards the direction the doe had ambled off in. The Destruction sighed heavily again, instead of taking her in minutes it would be hours before she stopped again.

HEAVY METAL BROKE MY HEART

The pallid male made an offhanded comment as he turned to leave, only incentivizing his departure. A low growl rumbled in his chest, irritation burning under his skin. He wasn't awake enough to be dealing with this shit. What did this man expect? He was just going to fall to his knees, begging forgiveness and offering his eternal allegiance in exchange for a missed kill? No, that was not the Aeris way. Scowling, the celestial male wrote this encounter off with the flick of his tail.

Snow crunched under heavy paws as he made his retreat into the woods, making note of the trail left by a large ungulate disappearing into the woods a few hundred feet away. The broad tracks were unmistakable. "She's gone north, better catch her before the weather fells her first." he shouted over his shoulder to the unlucky hunter. There. He'd done something. That would be his kind act of the day, as mediocre as it was.
