A pale silver bitch with even paler brindle stomps up to the group and looks them over with an air of disgust. "You and you," she snaps at Elara and Yarikh, her tone making it clear she doesn't think they were any better of a choice than any of the other ones, but she's making do with what she has. She stalks over to a circle of stones set into a ring in the ground without even glancing back to see if they're following. "Don't step out of the circle or you're disqualified. I'll decide who wins when you finish flailing at each other," she sneers. "If that's clear enough for you, you may as well go first," she says as she indicates Elara.

There was a big gathering and at the time the pale women was unable to get a good look around. She had sworn she had seen the familiar form of Acere, but she couldn't be sure. She didn't have the time to confirm it either as one of the coydogs picked her and a black male out. Blue eyes briefly looked to the male before fallowing behind their judge to the area where they would battle. Stepping inside the ring she took her place inside and listened to the female's instructions. All she had to do was stay inside the circle of stones and that should be easy enough. She instructed that Elara would go first.

The pale female started off by setting her defenses, distributing her weight evenly on all four paws, rolling her shoulders forward, and letting her hackles raise on her neck and spine. She then lowered her head, leveling it with her spine and tucking her chin slightly to help protect her neck. Pining her ears to her head while her claws dug into the earth. The male before her was similar in size, lighter then her and would probability be swifter then her, but she had her thick winter coat and slightly heavier set of muscle, plus she had a little bit more weight to throw around.

She took one step to the left before charging full force towards the black male aiming to slam the point of her right shoulder into the front of his chest. At the same time she tilted her head to the left and opened her mouth, seeking to grab a hold of of the loose skin on the right side of his neck, to have a firm hold.

YARIKH

He had been wandering, seemingly aimlessly, for who knows how long, so what harm could come from a little rest stop? Yarikh was not sure what to make of this crowd of strangers, and nor did he have a clue as to why this gathering was taking place, but the opportunity was simply impossible to ignore. It had been ages since he had seen his last fight, and he was beginning to feel...out-of-practice. If he was soon to reach his destination, then he needed to check that his skills were still sharp. There was no telling what could have gone down in the warrior servant's absence.

With a roll of his shoulders did he step forth, but no sooner did he volunteer than he was picked out from the cluster of willing participants. A funny coincidence, given how bland he looked among the rest of them, but this mild amusement did not surface in Yarikh's features. Instead, he simply took a moment to skim the faces that had joined him. He was scrawny compared to some...but no matter. He had thrown paws with the likes of them, even though it had been some time. However, as his empty gaze flitted to the opponent chosen for him by the coywolf--a pale femme not much larger than he--he silently thanked the fates for allowing him a warm-up.

Stay in the circle....That was simple enough. Yarikh mirrored his opponent, aligning himself within the ring, but as he began to fall into position, the instructor's voice slowly became replaced by ghosts of his old instincts. Good. Limbs spread and paws splayed over the ground, evening out his weight, claws scraping away at the soil for extra stability. His tail lifted to level with his spine while his head lowered to do the same, chin tucking slightly inward to guard his throat. Shoulders drew forward as well, bunching together the scarce fat of his bristling neck, while his ears flattened and eyes narrowed into dark slits. Finally, directly before the female's attack, his lips drew back to reveal his stark white teeth, letting out with them a vicious snarl of excitement.

Yarikh, too, lurched to the left as she neared, swiveling simultaneously in hopes of better facing her right side, but while this managed to redirect her right shoulder away from his center, he was not quite swift enough to escape either it or her waiting jaws. The shoulder collided with his own, sending a shooting pain through his right forelimb, but the woman's grip kept him from moving too far from impact. Thankfully, her hold on his loose scruff also meant he was not totally immobile. Keeping his head low to protect his throat, he lashed it out to the right, hoping to catch her own right neck in his parted maw.

The male would shift, but her attack would still land, just not how she had originally intended. Shoulder point collided with his shoulder, giving him and also herself a shooting pain. Bone into bone didn't feel all that good, but she didn't let it stop her especially when she was able to get a hold of his scruff. She would bite and she would lock her jaws, keeping tension on her bite area and holding on. It would not immobilize him, but that was okay. Since she was keeping hold his own mark landed, grabbing loose skin and thick fur on the right side of her neck.

Next she took her left paw, swung it in a semi circle before sharply swinging it left, hoping to hook onto the male's right front leg and knock it from under him. Her hopes with this was for him to buckle, to give her more of a height advantage over him. At the same time she would violently shake her head, hoping to deepen her bite to get past the fur to break skin and draw blood. Standing her ground Elara felt she was at a good spot, not sure if she would win, but hopefully wouldn't lose.

YARIKH

Blood coated his tongue, and Yarikh knew that he had met his mark. With both of them latched onto the other, there was no hint of either of them backing off--not until someone successfully followed through. The brute intended on taking such initiative.

As his opponent thrashed above him, he felt warmth trickling out and into his fur, a dull ache pulsing away in the back of his neck...but this only served to encourage him in the end. Yarikh quite literally bit through the pain, flexing his jaw muscles and rocking his skull in an attempt to strengthen his grasp. At the same time, he aimed to force his snout downward into her fur, as if trying to lower his head with her neck in the way. With this, combined with his slightly shorter height and thus his grip on a slightly lower section of her neck, he hoped to coax her to falter--even if only some.

She surprised him with a sudden thud into his right forelimb, which caused it to buckle. A startled growl as he fell slightly to the right, into the woman, but Yarikh hoped to make the best of it. With his leg being flung toward the left, he allowed the motion to continue in an attempt to hook his right paw around her left wrist. All the while, he allowed himself to lean into her, hoping that his slight loss of balance would aid in his attempt to shake her in return.

She hadn't expected his move and he was successful. Paired with leaning into her she buckled as well. Just like that everything was over, the male was announced as the winner. It was a bummer, but it was a spar and she was grateful she had an opponent like him. He was a good challenge and even though this meant her time here was done, she had learned she needed to train and work harder.

She quickly backed off nodding her head to the male before flashing him a smile. She was not a sore loser and she would still be respectful to the male. She had nothing against him, he just proved to be better then her today. Plus maybe now she could see if it was in fact Acere she had seen within the crowd and go watch his spars to see how well he did.

"Good luck on the rest of your spars," she stated.

With that she turned and moved out of the circle, not wanting to be in the road for the next spar and headed off to look for the pale male.
