This coydog that bounds in now stands out, not because of his short dark brown coat with it's black brindling, but because his ears are the long and floppy ears of a hound, and the gold-brown eyes that blink with a certain mournful anxiety at the wolves around him are definitely the eyes of a dog far more than a coyote. His tail, thinner than his "cousins" tails, wags at a frantic pace and from his open jaws lolls a long pink tongue. "Hi guys, hi," he yelps, and even his voice quivers with anxious energy as though every word that tumbles from his loose flews is in the hopes of convincing you to love him. His eyes rove the remaining group and alight on the forms of Aureus and Aurelia. He wag-wiggled his way over to them. "Hello, hi, I'm Spot and I'm going to be your guide today. Can you come with me please?" His sorrowful eyes gaze at the pair of wolves as though begging them to tell him he was doing well. Glancing back nearly every step to assure himself they are following, he makes his way to a ring made of stones set into the ground in a circle. "They said you can't step outside of the circle or you're disqualified," he tells them anxiously. "I'm supposed to decide who goes to the next round." His gaze is mournful, as though he's saddened by the idea that he has to tell someone they can't go to the next round. "Do you think you could go first?" he asks Aureus, while his eyes beg Aurelia to forgive him that he could not ask her to go first.

TIED TO WHAT IS LATE, AIN'T YOU NOW

With the first fight out of the way Aureus was feeling a lot better about the rest of the tournament. He had one victory under his belt. Kali sat near him as he waited for his next opponent. A coydog that appeared nervous and whipped appeared and introduced himself as Spot. Aureus glanced about and stared at the girl who was to be his opponent. He cocked his head to the side and then glanced at Kali. He was to fight her? She was a tiny little poof ball?  Surely this was some sort of joke? It didn't seem to be the case as the coydog, Spot, led the pair to the ring.

Aureus immediately felt guilty. He couldn't fight a puppy! What if he hurt her? What if she started to cry? Would he upset her if she lost?  Oh shit, he was to go first. Aureus grounded himself and tried to quell the unease bubbling in his stomach. When a plan struck him he immediately felt better. Ok, he knew what he had to do. Aureus smiled at her. "I'm Aureus. Good luck!"

He set his defenses and gestured for Kali to stay out of the fight for now. He didn't think the cat's services would really be required. Sizing up his opponent Aureus leapt forward, powerful limbs pushing him forward as his head dived down toward the pup. He sought to grab a hold of her scruff with the goal of picking her up.  Maybe if he got a good grip on her he could just walk her to the ring and drop her out. Piece of cake.

Stumbling back to the ring after a new coydog had summoned her and another older boy(was there nobody her age here?), Aurelia let out a soft yawn and blinked several times as she stood opposite her new opponent. She'd managed to win last time... If she won now though then she'd have to fight again. Ugh. Oh well. The boy was saying something. His name?

"Mh, ahm Aury," she mumbled back. Gawd she was still so tired, she hadn't even gotten to nap yet today... Oh, shit, wait! He was running at her, and the way he was moving looked real familiar. Not terribly pleased with the idea of being picked up and shook again, Aury was quick to gather her legs under her and charge forward like she was going to meet the boy. After a few paces rather than seek to crash chest to chest with him like she'd failed to do last fight, Aury dropped to her belly in the hopes of skidding through the dirt beneath him, with her jaws wide open hoping to land a bite on his hind left leg.

Aureus' jaws snapped down as he tried to grab the little bugger's scruff but she hunkered down and darted under him, causing his jaws to snap over nothing but air. Kali let out a laugh but Aureus ignored him. He didn't find chasing tiny pups terribly amusing. In fact he was getting annoyed. The girl went for his hind legs but by then he was already turning around after his failed attempt at grabbing her. The maneuver got his legs out of the way of her pointy little puppy teeth. His head dove down once more as he sought to grab her hind section, his jaws seeking to close right over her back with his upper teeth along the right side and his lower teeth along the left. He hoped to move in a scooping motion that would toss the girl outside the ring and end this fight before he had to get violent.
