Lament Pyre

Things were starting to feel right, truly right, beneath the shade of ripe trees, and a field of greenery. He held Eris and Ballad tightly beside him, close and knitted together, like family, like one. The evening had moved onwards, and night was quickly approaching. He ignored it, for the time of day mattered light in the light of what they had discovered together. Ballad had her religion back. She held only the edges at the moment, but it was a start. She knew it existed, and he had no doubt that she would find the rest of what she believed.

He understood that he was a fighter, that he moved by the code of the Lethani. The tree in his dreams was the Sword Tree, sacred to his people. He knew so much more in these moments then he had in all the others. Eris had freed them.

He looked over to her, eyes on her paws as she asked her questions. “We stay in Legion, the Alpha there gave us leave to den in his territory so long as we fend for ourselves. This pack had no hold over us however, and we can go wherever we need to.” he looked over to Ballad to see if she agreed. It she felt a connection to this pack, he would not tear her away. They need any stability they could find. For Lament, Ballad and Eris was all that he needed.

“Amaretto…” he murmured softly. He had almost forgotten the name that had slipped out when he had been trying to place Eris. Yes, they had another sister, and something had likely happened to her as well. Could it be worse then what had befallen him and Balled? He could feel emotions churning in his gut. He would not rest easily until all of his family was safe. “We should head back to the battlefield. Perhaps she was there with us, and you might catch her scent.” he did not know with certainty if he and Ballad would recognise the scent, but Eris, perfect Eris, would.
