Artur padded through the hot grasses, hardly sparing a glance even for the bison that snorted threateningly at him when he passed a little too close to their herd. They subsided quickly enough when it was clear he wasn't sticking around, so he was in no danger. He didn't, in fact, have a purpose here today except scouting a land he had no previous knowledge of, and escaping the confines of the pack that was feeling more and more stifling. He might continue on his way to the battlefield to gain more experience from sparring, or hunt for hares or prairie chickens to bring with him on his return to his siblings, but he had no immediate plans and for now was content to simply see what this land had to offer. He was prone to brooding when he was alone like this - he had a lot to brood about lately, but was generally able to push it aside in favor of planning the path towards creating his band. It gave him a way forward instead of simply stewing on what he couldn't yet change and sinking further and further into unproductive moping. His focus on the idea of a band might have, if anyone could have read his mind, struck one as obsessive and in fact it was very much in his nature to obsess so it wouldn't have been a falsehood to call it that. Still, though the thoughts running beneath the surface might be all about his plans, Artur didn't let himself be distracted from his surroundings too much, so when the grass nearby rustled in such a way as to indicate the passage of a creature similar in size to himself, Artur paused and became suddenly alert.
