Critical Fail!

she'd march on, her short legs trying to catch up to where she last saw the band. it had been a day or so since she arrived in this realm and so far she was totally not impressed. it was too hot down south, and somehow she got separated from Valkyrie and the others as they trekked along. the woman would go in circles before finding herself here, with only sheets of ice for company. "fokk! fokk... fokk... fokk!" she'd swear in her native tongue, stomping around the snow with her tail raised high with indignance. now how was she going to find the rest of them? she didn't exactly have skills in navigation.

hell, she lived underground most of her life. there was just... dirt. and rocks. and ore. you didn't need to tell them apart. all the tunnels were pretty much straightforward, with carved markings on the side of the walls to let them all know where they were. that wasn't here. this was just too... ugh. "damn it" Dutch'd hiss, lifting her head to call out for any of the Hjarrandi that could be nearby. what a great first impression she was making. the band's craftswoman, getting lost in a new place. she knew she shouldn't have stopped to... damn, she didn't even remember what had caught her attention now. something shiny, probably.

woe be it should some predator come along, mistaking her for a deer or even some rodent and trying to kill her. stupid short legs. stupid... tall people! everyone was so tall here. she felt even more like a dwarf.

Artur had never been so far from Valhalla, let alone as far north as he had made his way. It felt exhilarating to stand upon the cliff face and stare out over an endless ocean and know he had gone as far as any wolf could walk. He felt suddenly the urge to turn and make for the southern tip of Auster, to place his paws at every corner of the lands...

But no.

He stepped back from the cliff face stoically, knowing as he had always known that the fate of the true Adravendi rested on his shoulders. He could not do as his siblings and be content to remain forever in the shadows of another, his name and his blood never again to see the gold shine of glory.

The sound of a call caught the angular youth's attention, and he cocked to one side his scarred, red-masked head to better triangulate. The call was not for him, but it was close enough to date his curiosity without hardship. A stranger could bring him news, rumors, or new knowledge and skills, an opportunity worth taking. And after all, useless knowledge was simply knowledge not yet used.

He stopped suddenly as the object of his search appeared in front of him, and he took her in with a cool distance in his sharp featured face that somehow spoke more loudly of disdain than expression of outright disgust would have. She was shorter even than his diminutive sister Viviane but Artur suspected far heavier, she being squat bodied and stumped legged unlike his slim fox-like sibling. Still, were it not for her age and dumpy frame she could have almost passed for being more closely related to his brothers than he or his sisters were, so closely did her markings and coloration mirror theirs at first glance. Even if her blocky, dwarven build had not proclaimed her a common low blooded mongrel, though, her muddy purple eyes - so different from the clear blues and greens that ran in his bloodline - and her pink rodent-like snout made her grubby, ill-bred origins clear.

Still, he inclined his head to her slightly in a polite, if not particularly friendly, greeting. "Lost someone?" he asked, the syllables wrapped in ice.

some random guy would appear, or rather, approach. his tones would be scathing if not for the icyness. well... ice could still burn. she knew that from the biting winds. "more like they lost me." her own vocals were civil if not her eyes narrowed as he looked upon her. like she was lesser. oh, Dutch knew the type of people that did. this guy? this guy was totally looking down at her. but she was in the middle of nowhere and it wasn't wise to provoke some random wolf into a fight. she could get injured far from help. she didn't know a thing about herbs.

"it doesn't matter" like he even cared. she refused to show any more weakness as she addressed him. Dutch tilted her head up to look clearly at the man, finding his appearance average at best. some cream. some russets. nothing very attractive. not to her anyway. they say even ugly people had a shot at love. who knew if it was true? "live around here?" maybe she'd be inclined to ask for directions at some point. she was careful not to give anything about the band she had been assigned and hired to. Valkyrie liked her secrets. Dutch liked keeping her head.

I can see why they would, he thought harshly - and perhaps unfairly, but Artur had always been one to judge quickly - to himself, keeping his expression neutral. Even aside from her odd appearance, she looked like she would have to take two steps to every ordinary wolf's stride, let alone a wolf his height. She would slow a group down at best, and be a liability at worst. "I'm afraid not," he said instead. "My pack is in the south west of Boreas. Valhalla." He didnt ask if she had heard of it, because he doubted many had. The pack kept to itself anyway, but the name change was quite recent as well. It irritates him to introduce himself as being part of Aurielle's pack, being known as one of them, but it would not be for much longer. "My name is Artur Adravendi." He didnt ask her if she had heard of him either, or act as though she should have. Someday his name would be well known, but he knew that right now he was just another unknown yearling who had not yet proven himself. But he would. "Perhaps I can assist you in finding the wolves who... misplaced you."

weird name for a pack in the south. Valhalla was the Viking's afterlife and Dutch wondered if there were more of them outside of the Hjarrandi. it should be north, where they reveled in the colder climates like where she was from. but she didn't say anything about it, outside of a singular ear flickering backward at the name. "so if ya aren't from around here, why are ya all the way north?" the dwarf asked idly before the yearling could introduce himself. she knew most pack wolves didn't like to travel far away from their border.

but he had introduced himself, despite his apparent disdain of her. "name's Dutch" she grunted. he would be right. she didn't know anyone's family by that surname and to be honest, she wasn't very keen to if he was like this. his high arseness probably felt he was blessing her with his name. and even offering to help such a lowly being as herself. she shook her head. "I'll pick up a trail soon enough" she told Artur, not really in a hurry to leave now. Valkyrie would probably punt this guy if he acted like that around the band's leader anyway. "if ya wanna help, I need to gather some stuff to craft with."

going back to the Hjarrandi empty-pawed after getting lost... not good.
