Zee left their side shortly after they crossed the border, and it took a great deal not to let his eyes follow after her retreating form. He got that she was mad, and he would endeavor to find her as soon as he was free. She would calm down, once he explained why he had done this. A stranger's life for her own, that was a fair deal, was it now?

As he came to a stop at the start of the ravine, he called for Lady Lucretia and the Empress Deathbelle, knowing she would wish to know what her Vessel had been up to, and Lady Lucreatia would wish to check he would bring nothing harmful to the Empress in his body - as well as see to the pain’s he had suffered before the two and found him.

He was grateful to release the rug from his jaw, and stretched it widely. It ahced from the effort of dragging the man so far, and he didn’t relish the idea of doing so again. However, the Doctor would decide what needed to be one with her patient and where he needed to go.

the longer they took, the more nervous he was. evergreen eyes glanced around, marking every damn boulder and piece of foliage to store away for further use. or more like looking for a place to escape to. but with his sprained leg? he wasn't exactly sure how far he'd get before being rounded up. the journey was quiet - eerily so - and he felt tension with the two wolves as they walked. but Nimbus dared not speak until they were over the border. the woman left promptly. his eyes followed her body until she vanished, a desperate plea not to leave him lost.

but even now, he didn't speak as the man called for his pack. Nimbus hung his head, still on the coat, and waited for whatever was going to happen. he was quite sure he had been kidnapped by these wolves, and the woman named Zee seemed to disapprove of it. he only wished she remained here to see it through. that, as petty as it was, the young man disliked her even more for her feinted kindness. her reassurances meant nothing to him, but Nimbus also knew if she came back he'd beg her to stay. how pathetic... Sirius was quiet, waiting for the appearances of whoever he had called.

and Nimbus wasn't going to interrupt the silence.

Belle had been missing her vessel. She appreciated his presence, his huge form and almost constant companionship soothed her stress and helped her relax during the pregnancy. She was also selfish as Lucretia might have secretly thought, and indeed wanted Sirius all to herself. He’d pledged himself to her over and over again, and her trust in him was second to none. Only death had kept him from her. As his voice rang out over Ashen Belle was quick to receive him.

She was starting to notice that she was slowing. The added weight was harder on her light frame. Still, she powered through, refusing to allow it to affect her yet. When her giant vessel came into view she realized why Luce had been called. The man he’d brought was injured, and Belle began to realize what exactly Seer intended.

”Sirius, who is this?” She asked sweetly, vivid magenta gaze taking in her new pet. Wait. She knew this man. ”Oh wait, it’s my little story teller.” She realized as she got a better look at him. She recognized his beautiful almost Klein like markings. ”I don’t believe I ever got your name though, dear.” She continued, looking down her beautifully sculpted nose at his sad form.

Lucretia answered Sirius' call dutifully. If healing was needed, she would gladly attend to anyone within the pack's borders who had hurt themselves. Friend, foe, or otherwise. The health of all creatures that passed their borders was Luce's cross to bear.

She arrived on the scene ready for anything, but was still a little perturbed at the sight and smell of a loner. He was in a bad way, and it seemed that Sirius had carried him a long way on the pelt. Belle arrived, pregnant and glowing. Lucretia inclined her head to greet the Empress, adding a pleasant smile to the gesture. Deathbelle was living proof of Ashen's thriving community, and it always pleased Luce to see her sister.

"What do we have here?" She asked, her brow furrowed. The shaman directed the inquiry mostly at Sirius, but it seemed that Belle had also encountered this stranger previously. The young male sprawled on the pelt was favoring one of his limbs and generally looked to be in a bad way. A more thorough examination would certainly be required, but she didn't want to move him just yet until she took stock of the situation.

He appreciated the quiet of the new slave, through no doubt he was just trying to understand what was happening around him. He wanted to pat him on the shoulder and tell him everything would be alright, but that was a weaker side of him he didn’t feel like indulging. Instead, he stood in stony silence and waited, until Deathbelle showed up first. He bowed to his Empress, and offered her a smile, trying not to think about Zee’s betrayed expression as she had stalked away.

“This is Nimbus, I found him injured in the battlefield and did not believe he would fair well if I left him behind.” Sirius explained to his Empress, surprised when she admitted to knowing the man as a storyteller. He eyed her for a moment for any hint of the reprimand he had seen in Zee’s eyes, and when he didn’t find it, he smiled again. Perhaps Nimbus might be even more use then he thought, if Zee had liked his company as a storyteller.

“Lady Lucretia” he said politely as he nodded his head to her and moved out of the way, so that the healer might reach him more easily.

He hated this.

He hated how normal everyone was acting. Like this was perfectly routine for them to surround themselves with captives. Oh, how he wished he wouldn’t know when it happened. How utterly trapped he was now and how he was now at their mercy. Somehow, he still had that nagging suspicion. Nimbus knew he was taken against his will – he just chose to not fight this. He was not a strong man. He felt no rush of happiness to see the woman that he had previously met either. Her formal attitude only hit home how useless he was. The ‘little storyteller’. That would be fine if she hadn’t included her to it. he felt his eyes shift away as she stared down at him like they weren’t old acquaintances but that she was better than him.

But wasn’t everyone better than him? The dire wolf called Sirius was quick to introduce him, and a new woman came to peer at his injured leg. He flinched away, though did not appear aggressive at all. Nimbus just tucked his injury closer to his body, wishing he had the strength now to get up and run. Injury be damned. Somehow, he found the courage to speak. His voice was low and fearful, his ears pinning against his skull. “what do you want from me? I k-know… I didn’t fight you. But I know y-you took me. Please, don’t… play with me. Just tell me. Please.” He shut his eyes as if fearing retribution for his bravery and waited whatever beating that came.

Lucretia was quick to arrive as well, and Sirius explained who he had found and why. Deathbelle perked an eyebrow at her vessel, again thankful for the loyalty he held, as well as the gift. Once they got the beautifully marked man healed up he could prove to be a similar asset to Zee. "Nimbus," she mulled his name over as his bright green eyes watched her with disdain. He was frightened, he was injured and he didn’t know what was happening to him. Belle tried to soothe him with an easy expression. She held no ill will towards him, but he would quickly realize that he now belonged to her.

"Oh, sweet Nimbus." Belle purred as she looked his frightened form over. He was prepared for the worst, but the Kleins were not overly cruel masters. Some of her kin took their superiority too seriously, but Belle enjoyed being loved and adored. Like Sirius and Zee felt for her. She wished the same from the boy. "Right now, I want your injuries to be healed." She offered sweetly, looking to Lucretia to further soothe his worries. ”When you are at full health we will discuss more the repayment for that kindness."

While she knew he would be no soldier, his talents would certainly be put to good use for the Empire. However, Belle did feel like she was teasing him, and he had asked desperately to be told her plans for him. "You are now a part of the Ashen Empire, Nimbus." Her voice was more serious, but it didn’t lose the sugary tone. "Your devotion and loyalty will be remembered, just as much as any struggle or ill will you show." Belle continued, laying out his future for him.

"Do as the Lady Lucretia tells you," She backed away a bit, looking to Sirius and her sister. "Set him up in your den, sister. Sirius will help you get him there." She knew her vessel was tired, but Luce’s den wasn’t far. "When you have him.. settled," likely he would be given sedatives to begin with so Sirius wouldn’t need to hold him down. "We will speak more of your future." Belle looked back to her new slave, wondering how he might adjust to his new life, and when she might give him his hope of returned freedom.

Lucretia was familiarly with Deathbelle's saccharine tones. The poor boy didn't quite know what he was in for, and he seemed young and foolish enough to fall under their Empress' spell. Was there a man alive who could withstand Belle's charms? Luce would certainly like to meet such a specimen and examine his brain for abnormalities. She nodded along as Belle laid out Nimbus' future in Ashen - it didn't seem such a terrible fate, and she tried to emphasize that with a somewhat forced, encouraging nod in the male's direction. If they were to share her den, she'd have to exhibit some level of hospitality.

Luce wasn't necessarily fond of the Klein tendency to keep slaves, but it was an undeniable fact of their heritage. It was something she stiffly tolerated, if they remained well behaved. The problem with slavery was that it bred resentment, and Luce hated thinking about any kind of dissent or ill will breeding in their ranks. It was just another kind of illness. "Come, come," she said simply, leading them back towards her den. If it was only his leg that was injured, it wouldn't be a difficult fix. The problem was keeping him calm as she began to work.

Sirius flicked an ear as Nimbus spoke, and did his best to ignore the mans pleas. His attention was on Deathbelle, who did not look annoyed at him for bringing home this wolf. He did keep part of his gaze on the man, on the watch for any hint of steel he hadn’t seen in him before now. Especially with Lady Lucretia within biting distance of the man.

Deathbelle offered a great deal more soothing than Sirius was capable of for a stranger, promising him that they would see to his injuries, and then speak to him of the future from there. As Nimbus came to understand his position as slave, Sirius would keep careful watch over him whenever he was near Deathbelle. He took his position as her defender with absolute seriousness.

He gave his head a slight nod in agreement when Deathbelle mentioned his part in getting the man to the healers den. He had expected as much. Seer grabbed hold of the coat once more as the healer began to head to her den. With a grunt, he gave Deathbelle a nod, and began to follow Lady Lucretia.

he wasn't convinced of the sweet words the alpha used. he only hated her more for toying with him like he was an object or item and not a wolf. he was lesser, true, than many people he had met so far. he wasn't brave or strong. he didn't know how to fight. he may not have that, but he was sharp enough to know when something was wrong. he grits his jaws after he was told what he had to do, shooting Sirius a spiteful look as dragged Nimbus away. the dire wolf never mentioned repaying them for their 'kindness'. and if it was indeed kindness, he didn't have to pay them back.

this was, at the core, a brutal way to control people. shove them full of false hope and cruelly snatch it away. Nimbus knew he couldn't escape now, but he would try later when he could run again. for now, he was at the mercy of the healer and the soldier. he'd do as he was told, behave fearfully, but he'd bide his time. though even if he was quite submissive, he refused to say 'thank you' to the alpha lady. he refused to play her game. allowing himself to be dragged away now to the healer's den, he rested his head on his forepaws and made it more difficult in passing. the added weight wouldn't trip Sirius, but Nimbus was being petty.
