A young pup would restlessly move about in his den. He would stretch one way, flop over to the other side, he was ready to go. He was done sleeping, so should the rest of his family. Dirt capped is body from his rolling, but he was too young to care for that matter. And eventually, he would stand to his feet.

He had been by his mothers side all night, snuggled against her warm stomach. So that's where he rose. He would then pad his way to her shoulder and jump up to place his paws on her shoulder blade. His body would push into her, using little force to get her up.

"Mom?" He would whisper. "Mama come on. I wanna gooooo." His voice would whine as he pushed her a little harder. His neck would bend, waiting for her lime orbs to open. He was desperate for her to wake up, but he knew well enough to lay back down if she didn't. Or he would just leave the den with out her, or without asking.

Mom! His voice would not be enough to wake her right away, but as soon as tiny paws pressed against her shoulder and his voice continued to plead, her eyes would flutter open. Amarant stood beside her, looking rather impatient. A smile would tug at her lips before jaws parted in a yawn. "Wake your brother first and then we will go explore the range." Amarant and Koray had become restless, demanding to leave the den more and more. She had given in several times, but had yet to introduce them to much of the pack. Soon though. She would rise, stretching out stiff muscles before slipping from the den. You could just bury them and be done with the little bastards. The voices that resided in her head had been protesting nonstop since the birth of her children. She had long learned how to ignore such things, but every so often they got to her. The dark woman would turn, verdant gaze resting on the mouth of her den, waiting for her two sons to emerge so that they could leave.

Koray had been up late at night. He liked it better at night. It was darker and quieter at night. Ever since birth he had enjoyed the dark and the quiet more than the light of day; but he did not know why, nor did he wonder about it. They were supposed to sleep; but sleep did not come wasy for a pup that enjoyed the night. He had waited until the breathing of his mother and his brother had become slow and even, before wandering around the den. He would sit at the entrance and watch the moon, sometimes even venture out a few steps all on his own; but only when he knew they were asleep and he would not get in trouble.

Koray would sit up until it was late and watch the moon, smell the night, listen for anything that might come their way. He was protecting mom, he was protecting Amarant. Someone had to watch over them. He was a small pup now, he knew he could not do much; but he could at least make sure mom was never caught unaware.

The one thing the night did not have, that the day did, was warmth. Koray disliked the cold, but he faced it at the mouth of the den every night, because someone had to stand in the cold and watch the night, someone had to keep his family safe. Koray loved his mother, he loved his brother too. They were the warmth in the cold. When the hour grew late and his little eyes could not stay open any longer, or he began to shiver from the cold, Koray would return to his family cautiously and quietly, and then curl up against his mother as tightly as he could, her warmth and closeness soothing him to sleep.

Because Koray was often up late, he was usually a little tired in the day, more importantly; he was a little less than friendly when he was woken up in the morning. When his brother had woken up, Koray?s slumber was not disturbed. Completely asleep and oblivious to all the motion and talking he slept soundly and deeply. Try as he might Amarant could not wake Koray while his mother lay beside him. Not until she stood up and the comfort of her warmth was taken from him, would Koray stir. The peace of his sleep broken, Koray would whine some in his sleep. All these late nights had given Koray a reputation for waking up cranky, when he did not wake up on his own accord. If his sleep was disturbed he would probably wake with a pup?s snarl and a snap of his tiny jaws before he even realized that he was awake.

Amarant would jump forward to Maia's face when her lime orbs would gently awaken. He would tilt his head to make sure she was going to get up before stepping back and following her eyes as her body rose. He would wag his tail, showing his excitement that they would be going out today. But of course, they had to bring Koray too. It would only bring more joy to Amarant if his brother went anywhere with them, or even just himself. But there was one problem.

Amarant knew Koray didn't like to be waken up. And of course he was asked to do it. But he would obey anything mother asked him to do.

Amarant's eyes would follow Maia to the mouth of the den, and only then would his tail stop swinging and his eyes would focus on his brother. His tail tucked just slightly between his legs as he would stretch his front legs forward as far as he could. His nose would lower to his brother, not sure what he would do next. He was already whining because mother had left his side, and that wasn't a good sign for Amarant.

"Koray?" He would silently whisper. "Come on Koray, were going to the range today!" He would speak a little louder with excitement. He would then stand over his brother before poking his nose at his stomach, pushing a little hard knowing that it would take some force to get him up.

((if I jumped in line here I apologize, I just wanted to make sure I wasn?t holding things up))

Koray had been dreaming, about the moon, about his mother, and about his brother. They?d been happy and safe and playing together, and mama looked happy. It had been a good dream. When his mother left his side, and her warmth was gone, the sense of loss translated to the changing of his dream. A large red wolf came, mama did not look happy anymore. Other wolves stood by him, and mama looked sadder. These wolves attacked Amarant and began to chase Mama, began to chase Koray, with big teeth and angry scowls and snapping jaws. One of them got close, and their snot hit Koray as the attempted to bite him?

Koray exploded from his curled up ball of sleep with the angry, squeaky, yipping barks of a pup. He attempted to tackle the one who attacked him, his mind in a fog of sleep. His pup jaws snapped as the world swirled round him, and Koray realized that he was not in the open field. He was in the den, and his brother was the one at which his aggression had been directed.

Koray immediately lept back and tucked his tail between his legs, lowering himself to the ground he whimpered profusely. ?Sorry Ammy? he whimpered in a small voice ?I?m so sorry Ammy.? he would then stand back up and attempt to lick his brother?s snout and make sure he was alright. ?I didn?t hurt you did I Ammy?? the whimpering would continue unless his brother assured him he was alright. If he did, Koray would be able to relax, and then follow his brother out of the den to find Mama.

Even though the boy was ready for impact, he still wasn't expecting his brother to practically attack him. Koray had found himself on top of him, lashing with teeth and claws. And although Amarant was frightened, not a noise escaped his maw. He just closed his eyes and hoped for the best. Though he did push at him with his paws a bit.

Soon Koray would snap out of it, realizing this was real life and he was no longer in a dream. And his body would cower in the corner in pure terror. He was worried that he had hurt his brother, his tail tucked between his legs as he prayed that Amarant wasn't injured.

The spotted pup would roll over to his stomach and be up on his paws. His head was held low for a second, his paw reaching up just under his eye where a trickle of blood escaped a cut from his brother's tooth. All was done to the side facing away from Koray, Amarant would be sure he wouldn't see it before they left they den.

"Yeah, I'm okay!" He would happily assure raising his head to face Koray. The blood was wiped away and the cut was too tiny to see inside the den. He would then move to exit the den, stopping but not turning back once at the mouth of it. "Come on, let's catch up to mom!"

(OOC: I seriously died a little inside when he called him Ammy ;-;)

She would wait patiently, knowing that Koray would not like being woken up. He thought he sly, but no pup was as tired as he was during the day, and when his frigid little body curled up beside her at night, she noticed. But the woman said nothing, knowing he was safe within Covari. A frown would pull at her lips when she heard his yelps and snarls. Moving towards the den, she would poke her head, a frown still coloring her features. "Boys." She would scold them lightly before backing out of the den, not interrupting Korays apology. She would begin walking, her pace slow, lazy almost. Ears tipped back, listening for the sounds of their approach. Just leave them! Voices yowled in agreement. She would make a path away from the den, towards the heart of the territory. Perhaps they would see what was left of the barn today, they could play in the open fields and maybe even run into Rune and his children. Tail would sway at her hocks, paws pressing ingot he ground. She was enjoying being a mother, more than she thought she would. Her only regret was that Maverick wasn't around more. There was no doubt that they would begin to ask questions about where their father was, and what would she say? They were far to young to know the story, but far to young to be without a father. A sigh slipped from her lips quietly. Maybe one....

((lol, I'm glad you liked it. Koray and Amarant are so cute, its insufferable))

Koray still whimpered a little when his brother assured him he was alright. Thee was the faint taste of something metallic on his tongue and in the air; but his attention was diverted from these senses as Amarant moved to the mouth of the den and urged his brother to follow. ?Sorry Ammy.? Koray whined again before trying to shake off the shame by following his brother.

The single word of reprimand also crushed his tiny spirits. Koray did not like to make mom upset, or do anything wrong. He wanted to be good, to make her happy. Koray?s ears drooped as he stretched at the mouth of the den. A big yawn stretched his small mouth open for a moment and then he blinked against the sunlight, whining at its brightness. At least it was warm.

Koray dragged behind Amarant at first, as they went after mom; but eventually the sun warmed him enough that his spirits brightened and he found some energy and enthusiasm. New and interesting smells were all around. Koray was outside, free to move about, with his mother and his brother. This was the way things were supposed to be, just the three of them, together and happy.

Koray?s energy restored, he would bound after his mother, having not gotten the chance to greet her yet, since she woke before he had. ?Morning Mama!~? he yipped happily. His shocking blue eyes peered up towards her face from within his mask of ember fur. ?Did you sleep well Mama?? he asked, not bothering to ask where they were going. Ammy would probably ask that, and Koray didn?t want to be a pest.

Amarant wagged his tail slightly knowing his brother hadn't felt too guilty for his sleeping attack, but he would have to keep the blood away from his face until it dried up. His brother yet again apologizing, but he didn't want him to be sorry anymore.

His tail would tuck and his skull would cringe to his mother bluntly calling them. He too didn't like to make mother upset, and he would do anything to make it up to her. His body would leap out of the den, head twitching to look around, almost to make sure it was safe before going any farther. And his paws took off to catch up with Maia.

He felt Koray up behind him, so there was no need to look back. And when he approached his mother, he would press up on her back legs just like a kitten and slowed to a walk beside her. His ears heard Koray ask if she had slept well, but immediately after, he would ask his own questions. "What're we ganna look at first mom?" not recalling that they would be going to check out the range today.

It wouldn't take long for both her children to come bounding out of the den, eager to begin the day. She would smile, placing a kiss on each of their heads as the scampered by. "Good morning, and I slept well Koray." She would smile down at the boy before looking to her second child. "We'll go explore the range. We'll go check out the remains of the barn too." Her smile remained in place as she continued to walk, leading her boys away from their den and deeper into the range. She fell silent, her pace slow, giving them time to run around and explore the surrounding area. It would take some time, but they would eventually reach the fallen barn, destroyed by something. She would bring herself to a halt, peering up at the structure before approaching once more to inspect that it was safe enough for her kids. Only when she was satisfied would she sit back and watch her two boys romp and play, a smile toying with her lips as she watched with mild amusement. Just leave them here. Voices continually whispered cruel things into her ears, demanding that she rid herself of Amarant and Koray, but such things would never happen, she loved her boys dearly.

Koray felt warm and happy, more so when his mother kissed his head. His tail wagged eagerly and more still when she told him she had slept well. Koray nuzzled against his mother's legs before darting ahead to sniff at a plant he did not recognize. As he circled around his mother and brother while they walked he listened to here they were going making a note of what it was called. Ammy was the one who liked to see all the new places, and always wanted to run off and see new things. Koray liked it too; but in a more quiet way. He found it interesting but could just as happily stay home. As long as he was with his family, and everyone was happy, that was all that mattered.

The sights and smells were all new and exciting enough though. Koray investigated everything new cautiously before needing to scamper to keep up with his family. Wild grapes, onions, and flowers caught his attention before the smells of unfamiliar rodents. Koray did recognize the smell of rabbit, however. As they continued on their way he became comfortable in the feeling that everything was safe and began to get playful. He pretended to keep smelling at things in a circular path around his family as they moved forward, before passing nearby Ammy. As soon as he was behind Amarant he attempted to tackle his side to knock him down and bolted towards mom with his tail wagging wildly with glee. "Gotcha Ammy!" he called back to his brother thoroughly amused.

OOC:I wasnt exactly sure what to do if I was supposed to fill the long gap of time implied before they got to the barn or just go all the way to when the arrived so i tried to keep it vague.

Amarant would eye Koray as he held back, flew forward, and went in every direction smelling every little thing they came across. But soon his eyes would bore of Koray being so interested in all the plants. He himself held a carefree lifestyle, he would jump into boiling lava if it looked fun. But of course Koray would be there to stop and warn him if need be.

He tried to lead the way, but he would look back every so often to make sure he was going the right way. Maia was probably the only one of them who knew how to get to the barn. But that didn't matter, he could find it on his own if he went off by himself.

His thoughts had him held high and before he could come back to the real world, Koray had leaped onto him and succeeded on knocking him off balance and placed his claws on his shoulder. But he took of back to mother instantly, asking for fight.

The dark boy stood quickly to his feet and then put his chest to the grass and his rump to the air. His tail held high as he shook his hind and let off a grin showing he would get him back. And he would bolt, pouncing into the air attempting to strike Koray to the ground just as he had done. "Ha!" He would screech. Amarant hadn't even noticed that they were finally to the barn, and Maia was just about finished taking cation to the structure before giving her acceptance.
