Deathbelle and Archon had gone together to see to business at the Vulcano. Deathbelle had come back alone, in the shadows of the erupting volcano. It didn’t take a genius to understand that Death would not have left behind one she loved, unless she had thought him gone.

She was vacant and empty well she ordered about the pack, but she could not hide her pain from him. He had given them time to get the pack to safety, to keep Zee, Deathbelle, and the kids in his sight at all times. As soon as the pack was settled, he had left Zee in charge of the kids, and dragged Deathbelle away before she could sink into misery. He found a quiet niche for the two to speak, and nudged her into it.

“Alright, tell me” he said. He kept his voice quiet, and stern, hoping he could draw out her pain before it could fester. Her entire life was changing, her pack was relocated, her mate and the father of her children was likely dead. But, Deathbelle had survived worse, he had seen her. She would survive this, he would ensure it. He wanted her to snap at him for dragging her away, he wanted her to show emotion, to tell him what hurt. To give her an outlet.

She didn’t feel much of anything as all of her efforts were spent looking after the members of the pack that had gathered around her. They weren’t safe by any means, but they would be safer here. Before she could crawl away to lay and weep over the sigil she shared with her husband. The one they’d been married over at the top of the rocks.. Tears nearly spilled over her eyes as Sirius pulled her away. Everything was a blur until the quiet settled.

She was gently herded into a dark, cozy alcove. The sounds of death and destruction above were muffled and everything came crashing around her. A pained whine fell from her lips as she slumped to the floor of the alcove. Archon was gone. Deathbelle had seen her husband fall into the vast mouth of the volcano, and now her family was forced to move once again. She didn’t know why, couldn’t understand why all of this misery was placed upon her.

“Alright, tell me.”

Sirius voice grated against her torn mind, and she felt her lips pull back into a snarl. There was no one to blame for Archon’s death. No wolf to seek out her ultimate revenge upon. Only Seer, putting himself before her, demanding she speak. Deathbelle couldn’t speak. All she felt was rage. She couldn’t feel the overwhelming sorrow, just anger at being robbed once more. Belle called out angrily, but there were no words.

Her raging voice was all the warning Sirius would receive before she jumped at him. Her coiled limbs sprung and she aimed to slam her body against his chest. At the same time Belle wanted to rip deeply into Sirius’s shoulder. Belle wanted to feel her teeth tear through skin and muscle and inflict pain in him that she felt strongly within herself.

Her demeanor changed from quite to vengeful with hardly a warning. She gave a cry of rage, and that was all the heads up he was given. He braced himself for her onslaught as she slammed against him, her petite frame hitting his. He was like a rock, solid, sturdy, but still he grunted as she collided.

He raised a paw to swipe defensively at her, tilting his shoulder to take the brunt of his force, and he aimed to use his paws to swipe at her own feet. He wasn’t trying to hurt her, but he was giving her something to use. She wanted to fight? He would give her a fight. She needed something to wail and wreak havoc against. He would be her sounding board, always and forever, and today he would be her punching bag.

“Tell me” he growled as he aimed to knock his head lightly against the side of her muzzle. He kept his fangs well clear of her, and his companions stayed back. They would not interfere without his bidding, and he would not set them upon his childhood friend.

She slammed into him with as much force as her meter of distance to accumulate momentum. Sirius didn't move, but it was no surprise. Deathbelle felt her teeth connect and she aimed to shake her head violently to increase the damage. Seer was quick to knock her off with only one of his huge paws. His muzzle was used to knock her away as well and her death grip was loosened. ”Tell me.” He repeated.

Deathbelle retreated from him a bit, regrouping from more than just her first assault. The overwhelming emotions and traumas were taking their toll. Belle’s vision was clouded completely by a fog of red. ”No.” She started, quietly at first. ”No. No. No!” She continued before aiming to return to Sirius’s form. She’d aim to attack him the same as the first, slam her smaller form into his chest as she aimed to bite at his shoulder. Thistle called to her from the sky, and feeling Belle’s rage the tiny lemur that clung to her neck even aimed a bite at Sirius’s shoulder. ”NO!” She screamed, not at Sirius, none of it was really at Sirius.

Deathbelle was furious at the world, at all of the events that led her to this point. She was helpless, and Archon had been taken from her in an instant. She shouldn’t have allowed him to go up the mountain. She should have acted on her selfish desires and restricted him like she had wanted to. The empress hadn’t enacted her will, and she lost her other half. Now tears really did fall from her eyes, and they sparkled as tears with her violent movements.

Her teeth ripped flesh free as they came away from his shoulder, and he began to bleed profusely from the wound. He ignored it, all of his attention was on the feral wolf before him, as she assessed him. Her defiance in her eyes, and in her throat as she answered him. As she told him no. she repeated it, louder, more furiously, until she was screaming it.

She slammed into him again, but he was more prepared this time, and well balanced. He took it, rocking back slightly to absorb the impact. She went for his shoulder again, tearing further at the first wound, her teeth finding his lose flesh and tearing out yet another chunk. He bleed harder, could smell it, and feel it, sticking to his coat. He ignored it, through his breathing got a little harder.

“tell me” his voice was quiet, and even, a sharp contrast to her emotion and pain. She began to cry as Sirius gently pushed her muzzle from his wound, and forced himself closer to her, until he was close enough to nudge her head onto his unwounded shoulder. He wrapped a paw about her, pulling her close. “Tell me.” He said again.

She tore relentlessly at his shoulder before his words were on her once more. He took her abuse without even flinching, and as easy as if he were warding off one of her daughters moved around her. Deathbelle struggled for a moment longer, but she knew she’d been beaten. She was too weak to fight back further and submitted to his embrace. The Empress wept, incoherent tears fell from lilac eyes as she fell against her giant guardian.

”Archon is dead.” Belle bit back bitterly as he forced the words from her. Again fate saw fit to tear away the one she loved. This time it was deeper, the Abraxas had been her husband, the father of their very young children. He left behind a family. Deathbelle was incredibly bitter about all of it. She should have taken better control, they shouldn't have travelled to the mountain. She shouldn’t have let him go after their last embrace. Belle cried out helplessly into Seer’s chest, furious, bitter, and in pain.

Her emotional attacks were wild, and slow, and he predicted them as she moved, and met them each time she went to strike. He waited her out, until her anger turned back into despair, though he had to admit he had preferred the fire in her eyes to the blank emptiness and pain he saw now.

She fell against him, and he caught her, paying no mind to his bleeding limb as he pulled her in close, staining her dark coat with the red of his blood. FInally, she said the words, through he could tell how much it cost her. “But your pack isn’t” he reminded her, no doubt a small consolation considering how much she had fallen for Archon. Perhaps the responsibilities of her leadership would brace her, or perhaps not. Her heart was broken, and there was no easy fix.

A part of him wished he could have given her everything, a strong part of him. He was still alive, and he would have fought to keep himself that way. If he had given to her what she had once wanted, she would not be in pain now. Little Venom would be his… and Zee would not be. In the end, he knew what he had chosen, and the little slave girl was something he would not give up easily. Perhaps, in another world, things could have been differently, but in this one he was Deathbelle’s sworn guard and confident, and Zee’s husband.

Deathbelle didn’t care about the blood that seeped into her pelt, and was distressed enough she didn’t care to see to the torn flesh she’d rent from her guardian’s shoulder. He held her tight, but it wasn’t the same. His heart had already been torn from her, his had been the first. Beginning when she thought her best friend and the one she’d loved had been killed trying to save her. Then once he was returned to her so cruelly Seer was taken again, instead by a wolf Belle found herself loving just a fiercely.

Their relationship was completely different now, she held herself at arms length. Or had. Archon had filled the hole Seer left in her, but now he was gone as well. Deathbelle cried out again, frustrated and resentful. She’d already put off her grief to make sure her family and pack was safe. "I don’t want the pack i want my husband." She cried against him in defeat. Her eyes were red and her breathing inconsistent. "Am I not allowed to love who I want? Why must they be taken from me?" She wasn’t asking Sirius, the question was offered to the void. She loved fully, and every time she did her heart was wholly broken.

Sirius held Deathbelle for a long moment, eyes growing steel as he considered a thought mulling in his mind. He would do anything for Deathbelle, risk anything. If he could fight death to bring back the thing she wanted, then he would. “Did you see him die, or did you see him fall?” Sirius asked after a moment. No matter the fact that the volcano spewed smoke, and lava, and he would likely choke or burn long before he reached the epicenter. “Because if you saw him fell, I would go. If there was any chance, I would take it, no matter the risk.” Sirius told his heart-sore mistress. What was his life when it came to Deathbelle? nothing , not in comparison.

He wouldn’t do it for Archon, a man he barely knew and scarcely respected. He would do it for Deathbelle, for Venom and Pesto and Tox. as he had let himself bleed to feed her anger, he would let himself die to cure her heart. The selfish, possessive bastard had always had this one greatest weakness - Deathbelle herself. He tried not to think with Zee would think if he heard her words, of what he had promised her. If he was to go, he would take steps to ensure her future and safety.

He didn’t have an answer for her, and he’d long since apologized for being the cause of one break in her heart. Now it fell to pieces within her chest as she did not even have Archon to hold close to her anymore. He’d been the one to save her from the misery Sirius and Zee had caused, but now who did she look to? Hannibal was unavailable with his own work, Sirius held her tight but if she lingered in his grasp she would only come to hurt worse.

She flinched at the directness of Seer’s question, his words renewing the gruesome scene that played over again in her mind. Archon’s last few moments as he slipped over the lip of the volcano. Deathbelle cried out in pain as another shockwave was sent through her already overcome heart. "If there had been any chance, no one would have dragged me from the mountain." She told him through grit teeth, unable to appreciate her Vessel’s offer. Her husband was one with the volcano, and no force would ever be able to bring him back. She was denied even a body to mourn over.

Defeated, the Empress beat her paws on Sirius’s dark chest as tears overflowed her eyes once more. She sobbed heavily, finally being allowed the chance to grieve her heart’s desire. Archon was taken, and now she felt lost without him.

Sirius would take a mortal enemy over one of the heart any day. He needed a way to fix it that required his fangs and claws, so he could rip asunder. He did not know how to comfort her, despite the knowledge that he would always be there for her, let it be tears, or rage, that she showed him, he would not budge in his vigilance.

The acknowledgement that she would have despite, despite the erupting volcano, for Archon, did not sit well for him. He would risk his life for her happiness, but not her own. He could not waste jealousy on a dead man, no matter that he might wish to.

“I see.” he said instead, conveying in that word his duty to her. She beat against him, crying heavily, and he pulled her into his arms again, helpless, and angry at his inability to help her. His blood and her tears would mix together, creating watery warmth in his coat, and the burn of the cut would drag at him, but not enough to bring him to distraction. All he did was hold her, allowing a soft rumble in his chest, a noise of protective comfort. “Would that I could.” he whispered, more to himself then her.

Their relationship was changed drastically, Belle and Sirius. After he’d chosen the woman of his heart Deathbelle was unable to allow herself the affections she once held for him. Not because they did not still linger, but because she had to protect herself. If she was allowed to dwell in the feelings she wished to show the Empress would lose herself completely. Her family was much too important for that, and though she wanted to indulge in Sirius, to command him to take up his position beside her… Neither of them would be the same after.

Her vessel held her tightly and whispered meaningless words into her dark ears. Tears fell freely from her eyes as she mourned heavily. This hurt worse than Seer and Zee’s relationship. She still had Sirius beside her, ever the faithful servant, but she would never see her husband again. He was stolen from her, just as her parents and siblings were. There was no entity she could blame or seek revenge upon, the act of nature or god had been the one to wrong her. That fact hurt the most. She was helpless in her grief.

In defeat she fell against his chest and cried. There was little else she could do but show the sorrow that held her close. Her family was safe for now, but the blow of losing Archon would not be swiftly removed. "I feel so broken, Seer." She whispered through her tears. "I don’t know how to fix myself this time." Her words were desperate and barely audible as she spoke quietly into his blood and tear stained fur.

There was nothing he could do for her, no enemy he rend asunder. He could not defeat the pain in her heart with his teeth alone, as much as he wished it. As he held her close, and allowed her to cry, he wished that their friendship had been stronger than their love, and that he could hold her closer, and neither could think of what had been lost, nor of how that losing had hurt her. He wished their friendship had been stronger, and she would find nothing but comfort in his arms.

He bit back a frustrated sigh, and held her close as she told him her worries, and let him see her heart. “I know.” he admitted gently. “You have survived hardship before, and you will survive this. It will hurt, and you will bleed, and you will cry and you will rage, and nothing you do will drive away those that love that, and eventually, painfully, you will heal.” he told her gently, stealing a chase kiss to her cheek and pulling away partially. “Meanwhile, my shoulder is always here for you to rip apart, and you may tell me all, and I will guard your secrets as closely as I guard you.” He promised her. He promised her so much, he always would, and he would always keep his word. That was his honour, his promise.

He held her tight, and even if he’d been silent she would have lingered there. He was a comfort, but not the one she wanted and so Deathbelle would be forever displeased. Sirius tried to give her comfort, not that the words helped any. She knew that she still had a long way to go before normal was a real occurence again. ”Thank you, Sirius.” She told him softly, not that there was any real help besides his undying support.

Her tears slowed as she sighed heavily into his dark coat. Eventually she pushed away from him and found her paws. There was much work to be done, and she couldn’t linger here wallowing in her sorrow no matter how much she wanted to. ”We’ve got work to do.” She told him reluctantly, finding his gaze. He’d know she wasn’t okay yet, but it was only time, and not his support, that would heal her.

He was regretful when she pulled away from him, but that in and of itself told him it was for the best. He was always reluctant to let her go, and perhaps it was only their social differences that had kept him from locking her away like he partly did with Zee when his protective instincts went into overdrive. With the way Deathbelle hurt, the desire to stick her in a den and growl at the entrance was certainly there, but his servitude and loyalty to her was stronger than his bizarre, obsessive instincts.

At least she could function now, tearing him apart and crying in his arms must have helped, if only a little. He could never be what she truly needed, as much as he wished in that moment (and many others) that he could.

“We do” he agreed instead, hiding his protective, obsessive feelings behind hooded eyes. “Where would you like to start?”
