Yong Cheng was sore after his spar with Sirius. His shoulder still ached greatly, though the pain had been reduced to throbbing through the joint every now and then. He walked, a slight limp jarring his normally silent gait, to the oasis that gave the territory its name. The air was cold and the desert was dry, but if he could get into the water, it would be much cooler. Swelling that had arisen as a result of Sirius' blow could perhaps be soothed, if he soaked in the pool.

Slowly, painfully, he made his way down to the water's edge. He hadn't had cause to run around much before his enslavement, so the spar itself resulted in his muscles aching everywhere. Yes, yes. A dip might do him good...

Yong Cheng sunk carefully into the water, where it was shallow. His paws dug away at the sand until he had formed a level bed of sorts, still submerged in the oasis. Then, he laid down upon it, shoulder covered by water while his head and ears were out of it, keeping an eye out for any arriving wolves.

Odette had been hard at work for her queen. She was learning that as a handmaiden she was to do many different things, anything Zee wanted really, and to do it well. She wanted to show the ruler that she was valuable, so that perhaps one day, the Queen and Sirius would see it fit to lift her station, and perhaps even allow her to come and go from the territory. She wanted to earn their trust, but to do that, she had to trust in the Queen's promise that one day she could rise from her station as a slave and perhaps earn her freedom once more.

Odette was on her way back from the Queen's side after a day full of hard work, and she had planned to make a quick stop at the water's edge to hydrate before heading back to her den for the night. As she approached, she noticed another wolf was enjoying the cool waters. A male, if the scent on the wind was true, with earthen browns of various shades marking his furs. Odette, being the shy creature she was, curved to approach the waters a few yards from the male, offering him a small smile in greeting. "Good day, Sir." Her voice was soft as she knelt down to take a few laps of the water. She knew, if he was resting in the Oasis, he must've been a part of the armada. Sirius and his vigilant companion would never let rogues in, as she witnessed first hand. Odette wondered however, if she should have known his name or not. Regardless, if he didn't wish to converse with her, Odette would be on her way back home.

"Good day, Sir."

A soft, sweet voice broke through Yong Cheng's reverie. There she was, a mottled cream-and-brown thing. Dainty, by Sirius' standards, but still taller than he was. Cheng wondered how he had missed her arrival; had he been too relaxed, too immersed in the feeling of water against his sore muscles? In any case, she hadn't taken his lack of preparedness for weakness, and had instead moved a metre or two away.

That was good. He liked his personal space.

Yong Cheng turned to face her, returning her smile with a wolfish grin of his own.

"'Sup," he shot back casually. He felt a little bad for giving her such a short answer, but he wanted to see how she'd respond. Get a feel of the wolf and how she acted. Maybe she'd be interesting, too. Most of the Armada wolves he'd encountered had been interesting, in their own ways.

He eyed her wrly. Yong Cheng's eyes narrowed, looking as if he was assessing her. Then he relaxed them, and smiled again. "'M Bird. You are?"

His casual greeting caught her off guard for a moment, her eyes glancing over to him before continuing her small laps at the water. She had been raised with polite etiquette in mind, and while she never judged a wolf on their upbringing, she was surprised someone in the Armada was so... relaxed. Every wolf she had met thus far had been very formal, if not a bit on the guarded or harsh side. Regardless, it was nice to know there was someone a bit more friendly, or so she believed. No matter how one meeting could go, the next may not be so kind, and even now, she was only just encountering the male. Who knew what could set him off? Sirius was set off by her lack of manners when they first met, and he has since been more friendly and understanding to her, despite her never ending fear of the male. When he introduced himself as Bird, her head finally turned to face him fully, finding the name a bit odd but was happy to finally put a name to his face.

"I am Odette Mooncrest. It is a pleasure to meet you." She nodded to the deep earthen colored male, mentally saying his name over and over in her head to commit it to memory. She felt more comfortable once it was stuck in her head, and she nodded her head in motion to his seat in the waters. "Are you enjoying your bath?" She almost smirked at herself as the memory of her first meeting with Sirius came to mind. She too had jumped into the Oasis waters, much to his discontent. She understood, once she realized a pack was residing here, why he was so upset with her. But in Odette's defense, she was suffering from severe burns and dehydration. Noticing pack territory lines was not high on her priority list.

A pleasure to meet him? Yong Cheng had never heard anything of the sort before. This wolf was full of formalities; banal smiles and greetings to toss out to whomever she pleased, it seemed. Not that he particularly cared -- she'd responded probably as she'd been trained, and she knew no better. Yong Cheng narrowed his eyes into slits, peering at Odette Mooncrest -- such a weird name. Where was the moon on her fur? Did she bear any sort of crown? He had no idea what 'Odette' was supposed to mean, but 'Mooncrest' was nowhere to be seen.

Another wolfish grin curled the corners of his lips, sly, and sharp, and white. Then, he laughed -- rich, warm peals of laughter than ascended into the open air above them. "Mooncrest," he said, a smile in his voice, "You look like a nice one. Why'd you come here? To this pack, I mean."

He tilted his head, peering out at her through a slanted worldview. Then, he heard her next sentence.

Cheng barked out a laugh, short and ringing with humour. "What," he raised his chin, "Wanna join me?"
