Tamsyn knew how Resin felt about her father and her reaction to the description of her former pack certainly wasn’t surprising. The warrior’s protective nature was endearing and no matter how violent Resin’s wishes were it still had a way of tugging a small smile onto her lips. ”I know you would have,” she replied, an unspoken gratitude in her tone. Even though she had escaped the oppression of her former pack and had lived to tell the tale in safety far from their reach, just knowing that there was someone willing to protect and avenge her was touching in its own right.

Her ears perked and surprise colored her face when she heard Resin admit that she had been considering leaving this pack. Tamsyn surprised herself with the panic and disappointment she felt at the thought that someone she had grown so attached to might leave. She felt her ears fold back with worry and she immediately felt torn by the prospect. Half of her felt so indebted to Zee that she thought that the Armada was where she was meant to be, but she also felt the happiest when she was with Resin. ”I... I don’t want you to leave,” she managed to reply softly after several moments. She swallowed hard past a lump in her throat and glanced away, feeling that flush in her cheeks reappear. She felt like she had no claim to say such a thing, but all she could say was the truth. Someone like Resin’s daughter or someone that had more significance in the fighter’s life should be the one saying this - not someone like her that had only met her a few days before now. ”If you do start your own pack... would you take me with you?”

Behind her, she could feel the cold wind dying down. The sound of thunder had receded and the sound of falling rain was slowly dissipating. Soon they would be able to escape their confines. They could either resume their trek or Resin could escort Tamsyn back to her den. If they did continue, they'd both be muddy by the end, no doubt.

Having shared her recent musings with Tamsyn, the larger woman was a little surprised when she said that she didn't want her to leave. Looking down upon the black wolf, dark ears flicked forward. Tamsyn had her full attention. She could see the mixed emotions on the fae's delicate features and was truly shocked when the obsidian dame asked if she could go with her. The question and the fact that she would want to stay with Resin was... endearing. Since her foreleg was already wrapped around the woman, she pulled her close. This time, the embrace was intentional and she rested her cheek atop Tamsyn's head between her ears. "It may not even happen. I'm simply thinking aloud, so there's no need to be upset." She didn't say whether or not she would take the woman with her, but if she did decide to split off and start her own pack, she would be sure to ask then if Tamsyn wished to join her. It would make her quite happy to keep the little wolf close.

Birds began to chirp again outside. Their moment was over. Uncurling herself from around the dark wolf, the giantess stuck her head outside of the hollow. Soon the rest of her body followed. The storm had ended and the sun was showing through the clouds once more. Little rainbows appeared in puddles. Taking a few steps forward the woman shook out her thick pelt, ridding it of clinging debris. Casting her gaze towards Tamsyn, she asked, "Would you like to continue or would you like to go back?"

Feeling Resin pull her close into a tighter embrace in response to her question reassured her in a way she wasn’t expecting. She felt herself leaning into Resin’s touch when she felt the larger wolf’s head settle on top of hers and suddenly the fluttering in her chest didn’t feel so scary. Tamsyn didn’t like that there was still no finality to Resin not leaving when she stated that it may not happen, but the fact that she pulled her closer instead of responding negatively to her reaction to the possible departure helped to calm her worries a great deal. For a brief second Tamsyn closed her eyes and just let herself enjoy being wrapped up in Resin’s embrace, ignoring how confused she was by her own emotions so that she could just be happy in that moment.

The precious moment ended all too soon when the birds in the trees around them began to sing once again, showing that the rain storm had finally passed. She tried to hide her disappointment when Resin uncurled from her and that comforting, surrounding warmth left her. When this all started she had been unsure about being so close to the other woman, but now she was sad to be apart from her again. The smaller wolf got to her paws and stepped out into the emerging sunlight, giving her fur a good shake as well till the dust and leaves that had gotten caught in it was gone and it was laying neatly against her body again.

With the crossroads of options laid in front of her, she looked to Resin indecisively before finally saying, “Lets go back.” As much as she wanted to spend even more time with the monochrome woman, there was just too many thoughts swirling in her head for her to think straight. ”I’ll just have to join you for another patrol when Mother Nature doesn’t interrupt,” she added with a small smile before she began the moderately short walk back to her den. Most of the way she was quiet, thinking back on how she felt while she was pressed together next to Resin.

Her out of control emotions, her heart pounding for no real reason, the tumbling flutters in her stomach... none of it made any logical sense. None of it matched an emotion she had felt before. The thought of the whispered, scandalous chats she had overheard between some of the other young wolves in her former pack, the talks of what happens after they’re old enough to take mates. Having a mate was far more utilitarian than it was a thing of love in her old pack. The pairs were purely put together to have pups and continue the generations of wolves that made up this religion. Sometimes the wolves that were paired would get lucky and have both, but often times they wouldn’t. They would only be together for the betterment of their children and wouldn’t spend much time together otherwise. Whenever a pairing did happen to fall in love, the sight was like a watching a romance movie that didn’t feel real. The other pups her age used to chatter about it constantly, everyone wishing they would be as happy as those wolves when their time came. But... females were never paired with females. Why would they be? There was nothing physical to gain from that. Happiness and love weren’t tangible things. But did that matter here? There was no rules to say so, seemingly no obligations to have offspring...

By the time they reached her den, Tamsyn had more questions than she had answers. She turned to look at Resin with a small smile, trying to pause the gears turning in her head long enough to think straight. ”Thank you for taking me with you, even if it did get cut short. And for protecting me from the storm.” There was so much more that she wanted to say and ask, but she wasn’t sure if she had the bravery to open that Pandora’s box right now. Her tail wagged behind her as she reached up to lightly press her nose right under Resin’s chin in a small sign of affection.

Resin watched as Tamsyn shook out her own dark coat, then nodded when she said that she'd rather go back. Of course she would escort the woman back. They hadn't gone terribly far though, so the walk would be short. Either way, she didn't mind. Resin found that she rather enjoyed the easy company that Tamsyn provided. They were a good balance. The smaller woman spoke. She listened. They were both content with the silences that stretched between.

Tamsyn smiled up at her and said that she would come next time when they weren't rained out. Resin found herself cracking a smile as well, the sliced corner of her mouth pulling up a little awkwardly. "There will be many opportunities. You're more than welcome to accompany me any day." She meant it. It was... nice. A little strange to not be alone, but nice. The feeling was far from unwelcome, which was surprising to the big woman. Solitude had always been her thing. She doubted that she could be around someone constantly, but she did enjoy the time that they'd spent together so far.

Upon reaching the den, Tamsyn spoke again, this time in thanks. She slid her muzzle under Resin's chin and the woman's golden eye pinned, the pupil dilating and contracting much like a birds might. Today was just one big miasma of sensory overload, she decided. With affection given, she made the decision to return it. Curling her neck, she slid her own muzzle between Tamsyn's ears. "Enjoy the rest of your day, Tamsyn." Her growling tones were softer since they were so close. A bit reluctantly, she pulled away, turned, and resumed her patrol of the territory. There was a great deal on her mind now, and so the act would give her ample time to sort things through.
