before you go

Incubus roamed the den with a look of sheer boredom upon his tiny face. His nose would scrunch upward and reveal tiny puppy teeth in little sneers. No one was around. His siblings were either sleeping or off with their parents. Daedra was probably cleaning or doing something else boring. The tiny pup rubbed his side against the wall of the den before slipping out the exit. Sensitive eyes took in the bright light of the outside world. He had ventured outside a few times before but he was never daring enough to wander too far. Today wasn't the day he'd go far either. Despite his courage the little Klein was not made fearless. Ma and Pad often spoke of large Birds that could scoop up a pup. The thought made him stumble back into the threshold of the den. Incubus stood there with a little bit of worry in his eyes.

At least one good thing had come from Pestilence sticking around Ashen a little while longer, she had real siblings now. True, full blooded Klein siblings who she had no reason to dislike at all. It was a little odd that her mother had made children with her uncle - she didn't know what Uncle Hannibal was to her now or if she should even call him that anymore - but she could see how it was good for the bloodline, at least. The little pups would grow up powerful and strong and with none of the negatives that came from pretending to be gods. She found she liked spending time with them, at least she wanted to get as much bonding in as she could before she left. And so she arrived bright and early to the den, expecting to see them playing out the front entrance as she and her siblings had the day they were deemed old enough to leave. "Inc?" She frowned, seeing the tip of a pink nose retreat into the den's threshold as she approached. Pesto stuck her head inside the den's mouth, head tilting to the side to look down at the pup. "Come on out and play, or are you a 'fraidy cat?" She grinned down at her little brother, teasing him lightly. "Thinking" "You." |
Incubus remained within the shadows of the den as the Wolf approached. A familiar voice called out to the pup but he didn't move. The sound didn't make him flinch but he was still very hesitant. Everything in the world was so big and new. Inc couldn't trust anything. Perhaps the Wolf was a monster pretending to be his older sister? The thought made his spine shiver and he seemed to shift his weight uneasily. As Pestelince dipped her head into the den the boy looked up at her wide eyed. She towered over him but he felt relief to know that she was the real deal. Incubus let forth a sigh of relief as he swallowed his nerves. The little pup wiggled his rear in excitement as she invited him to play. But, the boy didn't miss the tease. "I'll show you fraidy cat!" Incubus then charged his sister, aiming tiny puppy teeth at her ankles before running beyond her to escape the den. Pink and blue eyes took in the world before he trotted along with his head held high. "See not fraid!"

The pup was quick to regain his confidence, and before Pesto knew it he was barreling out of the den in a fly-by-nipping. She picked up her feet but too slow as his teeth found her ankle, but then he was off again and strutting around. The yearling laughed, her head shaking as she trotted up behind him. "You know, monsters think the most confident pups taste the best. I'd be carefully walking around like that, you don't know how tasty you look to one of them." Pestilence did her best to look serious, as if schooling her little brother in a very important matter. Suddenly she gasped, and ducked down behind the pup pointing out ahead of them with one paw. "Did you see that? I think I saw something behind that rock!" She let her body quiver in mock-fear for the boy's benefit. "Thinking" "You." |
Incubus flagged his tail in a dominant manner just as he witnessed his father do. Puffing out his tiny chest, trying to make himself look big and menacing. But, his older sister's words seemed to make his fur stand on end slightly. As she grew closer he was warned of looking tasty to the gremlins that may lurk in the distance. He seemed to shrink ever so slightly before her alarming words brought his tail between his legs. Incubus lowered his tiny form to the ground in the best prowling stance he could muster. Eyes pointed directly to the rock in hopes to catch sight of the monster! Inc swallowed a bit of fear and lifted his lips to expose pointed puppy teeth. "We can take it." Not sure if he meant those words the boy still didn't move. "Show yourself! You ugly monsters!" Incubus growled as he prepared for battle. Surely if there was a monster Pest would help fight it right?

Pestilence grinned at the back of her little brother's head, feeling his bravery and the pride it gave her to call such a fierce pup a member of her family. She'd expected him to cower, but regardless of his fear he was willing to try and defeat this faceless evil even though it was merely his first day out the den. "Okay, lets go get him!" She agreed, sliding forward on her belly towards the rock slowly. Pesto creeped as carefully as she would if she was hunting a real creature, and once she got in range she pounced onto the rock to put both paws upon it and look down behind. "It's gone!" Flabbergasted, the girl turned to look at her little brother. "It must have been very scared of you, Inc!" A pause, and she lifted her paw to her chin to make a show of thinking. "Or maybe it fled so it could sneak up on us when we're not expecting it..." "Thinking" "You." |
