Family meeting family
She led her family toward the edge of the Avian Estuary to where the Vericona Plains began and so did the border for the pack that they had been looking for. At least, she hoped this was the right pack. The main scents she smelled here were similar to the scents of her aunt and mother so she had a good feeling that this was indeed where they were trying to get to. She shuffled her paws anxiously for a moment as they came to a stop just beyond the pack's borders and she looked up at Ochre with a nervous smile. She was hopeful and anxious and excited all at once. Daelos glanced back at her daughters, one clearly more thrilled to be here than the other. She chuckled a little at the pair, the sight of Elba holding the bundle of herbs she had gathered tomorrow between her teeth amusing her. She gave Aslaug an encouraging nod, knowing that between the two of them Aslaug matched her worries the most. The four of them all had a wide range of emotions and opinions about this move, but she was still confident that this was the right thing to do. Looking back toward the plains, she took a breath before lifting her head to howl for someone to greet them. If Baine really was here maybe her aunt would hear her as well. |
Elba trotted along beside her parents and sister with a mouth full of herbs she had ended up collecting while they were in the estuary, feeling proud of the new start of her herb store. It would barely even scratch the surface of what a fully fledged healer would need, but it was a good start! She wasn't sure if she would really be using it that much yet, but her mother certainly would so at least they would be getting some use. Between these and the prey that they were bringing with them she felt like they had quite the collection of supplies and gifts to bring to their new pack. She glanced at her sister and gave her as big of a grin as she could manage around her herbs. When they got to a stoping point she sat the herbs down at her paws and looked back up toward what could potentially be their new home. She grinned and her tail wagged excitedly behind her. She was extremely hopeful and eager as always and was already imagining what she might learn from her new pack members. Other healers to learn from, fighters to practice with... How different would they do things than the wolves they used to live with? She made herself sit back on her haunches to wait to keep herself from wiggling too much from excitement. |
Today was the day, the day she and her family were going to try their luck in the pack her mother leads them to. Many emotions collided inside her as they approached where they though the border would be. She felt in a way excited as this would be a new chapter in their lives, new wolves would be met. But bigger than that, a sensation of distrust burst inside her, she had her fears and felt nervous. What if the pack ended up being evil? Those who wished other's pain and bloodshed? Militant or those who suppressed others. Many of this ideas rested inside her heart and she hopped her mother had made the right choice though she never doubted her judgment. There she stood beside her sister who carried herbs. Her heart pounded quickly and hard due to anxiety. Her mother looked at her and there she tried to calm down. All will be alright, or she hoped so. |
Ochre was the last to arrive at the little gathering at the border. It was understandable considering he was tugging an antelope along behind him. By the time he dropped the hefty creature, his jaws were a little sore but he pushed the dull pain aside and wouldn't spare it another thought. This was a momentous occasion for his mate and his girls. Gods knew just how anxious and excited they were. Ochre... was not. He was fairly indifferent. The man didn't need much in the world. Just his woman and his children. He just needed their happiness. Everything else was circumstantial.
Coming up beside Daelos, he nuzzled behind one dark ear, then gave a nod. She sent up a call a moment later. He could feel the hope ringing through her voice. For her sake, he hoped that they would find what she was looking for. So as not to appear too over eager, the blonde and earthen man folded his haunches and sat. His shoulder would continue to brush that of his mate simply to provide her the comfort and calm that he knew she would need.

She was patrolling at an easy pace when the call came from the border nearest the Estuary. With a thoughtful hum she veered southward, Loshir padding after her. She had broken into a trot to cover ground, but well before she reached the southern passage of the wall she slowed to a stately walk.
As she drew close enough to study the four figures, she had a good whiff of them as the breeze turned northward—a sign that the next day or so would be clear. But it also told her that these were family. An easy smile fell across her features as she drew to a stop before them, studying each of them in turn.
Finally, her eyes turned to the eldest woman. The eyes were a giveaway, scent notwithstanding. “Daelos. It’s good to meet you, Cousin. I am Aurielle Adravendi, Spirit of Valhalla. What brings you here?”
She studied each of them again with a familial warmth in her features. The children were yearlings already, both nigh on brimming with energy. The man was the most relaxed looking wolf, a pronghorn recumbent at his paws. Would they be joining? Or had they merely wanted to check on Nolan and Baine and Casso?

At first glance, Aurielle's coat is pure white.. Her fur has an iridescent quality (like moonstones) where the fur shimmers different colors under various angles of light: in this case, the colors shown by rainbow moonstones. Not one hair on her hide is a solid unnatural color, but, ya know, it's really hard to convey that in still art :P
Aurielle's English is heavily laden with an Irish, Swedish mixed accent.
Her family is allowed to crash all her threads, Private and Open.
As of Autumn Year 14, Aurielle glows with a bright blue-white bio-luminescence in her fur, and bears a marking over her left eye - see profile and reference.
Daelos looked to Ochre with a smile as he sat at her side with his shoulder brushing hers. She was incredibly grateful to have his support and to have him be the calming, steady rock of their little family. Him bringing the antelope to their meeting with the pack was an incredibly kind gesture and she loved him for the thoughtfulness of it. She leaned to give his cheek a quick, affectionate lick before turning her attention back to the pack's border. Soon enough an etherial figure came forward into view and she looked to the woman with a bit of surprise. Her appearance was unlike anyone that Daelos had seen before with unusually glowing fur and long, flowing hair around her mane. She tried to keep her curiosity and shock in check as she took in the ghost-like figure, but the healer in her made her wonder what could cause such kinds of mutations. Did the fur continually grow or did it eventually reach this length and stop? Did she apply something to her fur to make it have this shimmering, glowing effect or did it naturally occur? That science focused side of her brain was intrigued by it all, but she had to focus on the task at hand. Maybe she could find an appropriate chance to ask more questions after they got settled in. She was surprised to hear the stranger address her directly by name, but then it dawned on her that it must mean that Baine had made it after all and had told them of her. She smiled warmly at the woman who introduced herself as her cousin. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Aurielle," she replied, her tail wagging gently behind her. Now that she knew without a doubt that more of her Adravendi family was here and the evidence pointed toward her aunt making it here safely she felt much more relaxed about it all. "This is my mate Ochre Kvasir and our daughters, Elba and Aslaug Kvasir," she added, motioning toward each member of her family as she introduced them. She felt a bit of pride in her chest as she looked to the wolves around her, the kind of pride that a mother always feels when they look at their children. To answer Aurielle's question of why they were here, she said, "We're here partially because I've been incredibly worried about Baine ever since she left. I thought about just coming on my own to check on her, but... This seemed like a great opportunity to show our girls more of the world and introduce the little family I've gathered here to my Adravendi side." She chuckled softly and glanced toward Ochre in case he wanted to add anything. "We would love to join your pack if you'll have us." |
Elba waited with a bit of excited impatience for someone to answer her mother's howl. She knew she needed to be polite, but she was just so eager that it was hard to contain her energy. When she looked at Aslaug she could see how nervous her sister was and she leaned over to nudge her tan shoulder with her nose, giving her an encouraging grin before turning her dual-toned gaze back toward their potential pack lands eagerly. She wanted to comfort her sister more, but she knew that nothing would really ease Aslaug's worries until she was able to show her proof that there was nothing to actually worry about. Soon, a very interesting looking woman showed up to greet them and it took all of Elba's self control to not gawk at the glowing fur on the woman. She wanted to run up and inspect it more closely so badly but she restrained herself, instead settling for looking curiously over her mother's shoulder at the woman that she assumed was the alpha here. It surprised her to hear the stranger greet their mother by name, but when she finished introducing herself it was clear that this was actually family and it made her excited all over again. She grinned happily, giving Aslaug a 'I told you so' glance. She waited for her mother to finish introducing them and telling Aurielle why they were here before she finally let herself get up. Elba grabbed the herbs she had brought and inched closer, setting the herbs down again so she could speak once she was standing at Daelos' side. "I found some herbs yesterday so I brought them as a gift!" she said proudly, smiling at Aurielle while her tail wagged gently. "I'm learning to be a healer like my mother, but I like to fight too!" |
Ochre sat silently and allowed Daelos to handle the pleasantries. For once he was at a loss for words. The wolf that approached was... incredibly strange. He'd never seen anything or anyone quite like it. Ochre couldn't help but glance back and forth between his mate and the woman that she was related to. There was zero resemblance. He wondered if the others that they came searching for were more normal looking. Perhaps the woman, Aurielle as she introduced herself, was very nice. The man simply found her appearance off putting and foreign. They didn't make wolves like that where he came from.
He was proud as Elba spoke her greetings. Both of his children were well spoken. Both he and Daelos had worked on their grammar and speaking since they were young. It was important to be able to express yourself clearly. Aslaug sat silently for now. Once Elba and Daelos were done speaking, the black and blonde man cleared his throat. "Greetings. Good to meet you." He motioned to the deer laying beside him. "We've brought another gift as well." He smiled pleasantly. Though she was strange to look at, that didn't make Ochre any less friendly than his normal self.
Aslaugh remained close to her sister, feeling unsure about what was happening. Eyes of blue landed on the wolf who called herself Aurielle, and she decided to just let the rest of her family speak, she didn't know what to do at all. She tried her best to calm herself and show herself as a brave girl, rising her head and giving up a small smile, not necessarily real but that was all she could do at the moment. Her sister and parents all spoke to the white wolf and her sister soon stated her desires in terms of skills and potential tasks at the pack. Herself only knew one she could do."I am interested in maybe being a hunter if that's okay." She said almost incapable of speaking in a confident voice, as it turned to be a heavy one. |

Aurielle listened as Daelos explained, a smile settling on her features as she nodded. She reserved her decision, instead grinning at the two young women as they spoke up, then to Ochre. Of the four, Ochre hadn’t announced what he might bring to the pack, but judging from the kill he’d brought, she could guess.
Two hunters, Two healers, at least one of which was a fighting inclined one as well. She met each pair of eyes squarely before her smile turned to Daelos. “Aunt Baine and Nolan came here safely. Baine mostly rests, but she has her good days. Nolan has settled in very well and is a hard worker. Casso stayed for a week or so, but he’s headed north to Winterfell. Your Uncle Acere leads Winterfell.”
Her eyes swept the four, a smile in their depths before she said, “I’m happy to welcome you to Valhalla. We do expect even family to work hard and rise through the ranks here. Ochre, if you bring that kill within the wall here, I can call one of the hunters to come process it. Do you wish to keep anything from it?”
She shifted as if to lead them forward into the territory, adding, “If you would like to walk with me, I can explain Valhalla’s customs, ranks and laws. It’s a long explanation.” Her lips twitched into a grin, soft laughter riding the last remark as her long-haired tail flicked in a gesture of welcome, a slight light trail left in its wake before the illusion vanished.
She kept Aslaug’s request in mind, casting a smile to the girl, who seemed to have taken to shyness with the Spirit’s arrival. The ranks would be clearer once they’d listened to her explanations.

Daelos was relieved when she heard that Baine and Nolan were here safe and sound. She would have to go find her aunt as soon as they got settled and see if she had been taking care of herself like she had instructed her to. She suspected that she hadn't since Baine never wanted to be a bother, but she could hope that Nolan at least made sure she did. She was a bit surprised to hear that Casso had been here as well, even if a bit briefly, but what surprised her the most was hearing that Acere was leading a pack further to the north. She was sure that surprised showed on her face, but she didn't comment. She simply nodded and stored the information away for later. She waited for Ochre to respond to the question of if he wanted to keep anything from his kill, letting her gaze linger on her mate for a moment with a smile before refocusing her attention on Aurielle as she began to lead them into the pack's territory. It was a relief to finally be here and to know that they were welcomed here as well. There hadn't been much doubt in her mind that they would be, but it still felt like validation that the trip here had been worth it. She looked to Elba and Aslaug to make sure they were following as well, giving her girls an encouraging smile. |
Elba was very excited when she heard that their aunt and cousin were already here like they had hoped they would be. She looked to Aslaug with a grin, leaning closer to her to whisper in her ear, "See! Aunt Baine and Nolan are here!" She hoped some friendly faces would help her sister feel more comfortable here. Of course they would have each other as friendly faces too, but being reunited with a couple more members they had been missing was exciting too. Having to listen to a long explanation of ranks and such sounded difficult to the overly excited young woman, but if her father had taught her anything it was how to pay attention during a lesson. She mostly just wanted to run ahead and start getting a closer look at the lands that they would now call home, but first things first they had to learn about the pack itself. She kept close to Aslaug's side as they began to walk and kept her ears perked forward to listen to all of Aurielle's explanations. The last thing she wanted was to get distracted for a moment and then not know how to answer a question if one was posed to her. |
When asked if he wished to keep anything, the man simply shook his head in the negative. "It is a gift." Without another word, he put his teeth into the kill and began to pull it behind him. Ochre purposefully hadn't removed the innards, though it would have made the beast lighter. Everything had a use and a gift should be kept in tact.
Once over the border, he handed the kill off to others. Licking a bit of blood from his lips, he continued walking beside Daelos. Ochre could see the excitement in his children, though there was some shyness there as well. Again, he felt the swelling of pride within him. He and Dae had created and raised two fine young ladies.
