Ochre

She felt like they were beginning to settle in nicely, but she knew it was quite the change for all of them. She had spent her early years in various packs so she had at least a little bit of an idea of what to expect, but the rest of her family wouldn't have that same frame of reference. Elba seemed to be taking to it like a fish to water so she knew she could at least rest easy knowing at least one of her daughters was adjusting well. Her hope was that Elba would continue to look out for her sister and help Aslaug get settled in to it as well. As much as she always worried about their girls, she knew she wanted to check in with her mate as well. That was the topic on her mind today. Once she had finished the hunting for herbs that she liked to do in the early hours of the day before the sun was high and made the day grow to its warmest temperatures, she dropped off her finds in their den before taking off to look for Ochre. She figured he might be hunting or something of the sort, but she knew he would never go too far from his family. She was able to pick up on his oh so familiar scent fairly easily and followed it till his black and tan form came into view. A small grin tugged at her muzzle as she walked up behind him, coming up beside him and letting her side brush his. "There you are, my love," she said with a soft chuckle, nuzzling her face into the thicker fur around his scruff. "Just the handsome man I was wanting to see." |

The great change in his family was a little overwhelming. This new pack was as strange as the wolves in it. Ochre had felt a little uneasy, not yet having settled into his place. Most days he spent out hunting so that he could contribute somehow without being stuck in close confines with those that he didn't yet know. That made him spend a lot of time away from the ladies in his life, however, and so today Ochre was doing something a little different. The quartet of wolves had been using a spare den in the caves that had been offered by Aurielle, but that wouldn't do for his family. No... Now that they had settled somewhat, he was going to build them a home. Ochre had chosen a place on the border between the plains and the moor. That way his family would have easy access to both places without traveling too far. The area that he had selected was close to the river as well, though not close enough that their den would be damp. It had been done in secret as he wished to surprise the ladies in his life. The big man had dug out a large main chamber where they could commune and entertain guests. Elba and Aslaug would have their own rooms beside one another. On the opposite side of the main space was another large chamber for Ochre and Daelos. Using a few bendy trees that he'd dug up from the place nearby with all of the birds, the blonde man had reinforced the ceiling and doorways, tying the trees together with vines. All that was left to do was to fill the place with comforts. Exiting the den through the spacious doorway, Ochre sat out in the sun for a time. The shifting wind brought the scent of his love wafting towards him and he turned his head just as she slid her side along his. Ochre nibbled behind one dark ear. "Mmmm..." he rumbled, reaching one thick foreleg out to wrap around his woman and pull her close. "You ruined my surprise." As always, his mate was fearfully intoxicating. Rising, he gave her rump a gentle swat before motioning for Daelos to enter their new home. He was already thinking up ways that she could make it up to him. "Speech" |

Daelos hadn't noticed the project Ochre had been working on at first because her attention was so entirely captivated by him. She remembered seeing her mother and Elias together after they moved to the pack that Elias ran and at the time she couldn't comprehend how her mother could be so dedicated to him when he was so obviously troubled. Now that she had experienced love herself she could understand how blinding it could be, but she was lucky enough to fall for someone who was incredibly caring and loving in return. Perhaps her experience with Elias had made her more selective and careful with who she eventually chose as a mate, but she was incredibly happy with her decision to spend her life with Ochre. She grinned and leaned into his touch when he nibbled at her ear and wrapped his foreleg around her shoulders. She nuzzled into his neck again and pressed an affectionate lick to his cheek in return. It wasn't until he mentioned ruining his surprise that she actually looked away from him and saw the den that was in front of them. Daelos blinked with surprise and a huge smile spread across her muzzle. The playful swat he gave her rump made her giggle and give him a light-hearted glare, but she was too eager to see the work he had been doing to take the time to retaliate. The healer ducked into the shadowy interior of what would be their new home and she looked around with awe. "You did this all on your own?" she asked as she walked over to one of the walls and examined the work he had done reinforcing them with slender branches and trees. She followed the length of them, seeing how he had secured them with vines. She knew her mate was quite handy, but this all far more than she would have ever expected him to do on his own. Daelos turned around to look at him again, grinning from ear to ear and tail wagging happily. "This is amazing, Ochre! This is going to be such a good home for us!" she exclaimed as she came back to him, nuzzling her cheek into his. There was more than enough room for the four of them and... perhaps more if fate ever decided to bless them with more additions to their family. She had been content living in the alcove among the caves that Aurielle had offered to them, but this was so much better suited to them and their family. The location was also perfect for her to go out into the moor to find more herbs, but wasn't too far away from the meeting area in the plains either. "I can't wait for the girls to see this, they're going to love it," she instead, leaning back again to give Ochre another happy, loving smile. |

The sheer joy on the face of his mate was more than enough to make up for the ruined surprise. Above all things, he wanted her to be happy. She was a damn good woman. She deserved it. Their daughters deserved their own space as well. In this new step of their lives, he wanted nothing but the best for them. This was the start of that. Affections were freely given and received. He couldn't keep himself from touching her even after all this time. Daelos shared her happiness and Ochre grinned. "I'm glad that you approve. It would be a pain to tear this all down and start over." He teased a little, knowing that she would never do that. The pair were easy going and rolled with the punches. It was rare that they were contrary. Really, the new den wasn't just for the ladies in his life. Ochre needed his own space. Though he knew that Daelos and the girls would be happy enough in the caves that many of the pack used, he just couldn't bring himself to be in such close proximity. The blonde flecked man needed space to call his own. Something that he built with his own two paws and his own mind. Daelos leaned into him, speaking of the excitement of the girls at seeing their new rooms. The dark brute leaned into her as well. "We can show them whenever you'd like so they can start filling up their rooms with their own things." His voice became low and he brought his maw close to her ears. "Or we could christen the place first while we have some alone time." His tongue snaked out to lick the back of that ear and he pulled his teeth gently through the soft fur there. He was a cad, he knew, but he just couldn't help himself. "Speech" |

A playful grin crossed her lips when he joked about having to tear it all down if she hadn't liked it, chuckling to herself at the absurdity of the idea. Of course she loved it and so would their daughters. This felt right for their family. They were as tight knit as they came it seemed so she knew it was only right that they have a bit of space for just their family to enjoy. She was already excited about bringing Baine and Nolan here to share meals and she could even imagine using the middle corridor for her healing if the need ever arose. It was their little slice of Valhalla and she was thrilled to have it. She glanced toward the two rooms that he had built for their daughters when he mentioned bringing them here so they could begin personalizing their spaces and she smiled, already imagining the kinds of things they might chose to fill them with. She was sure Elba would make her own little stash of herbs and things she found during her adventuring and she knew Aslaug would have some kind of furs of some sort from her hunts sooner rather than later. They were individuals in their own right and she was so happy that they would each have a little space to call their own. She didn't know how long it might be before they grew old enough to find a love of their own and make their own homes, but for now she would keep them as close as she could and enjoy every minute she had with them. Those thoughts were quickly disrupted when her mate planted thoughts of a very different kind in her head with his suggestive words and teasing affections to her ear. That grin reappeared in her expression and she giggled softly as she let herself lean into his touch. She would never get over how affectionate they were toward one another and how it never seemed to matter how many times they had each other - it was always just as intoxicating as the last. "Oh, well, I don't see a reason to rush getting them here..." she insisted as she tipped her muzzle to brush her nose through the fur on his cheek. "Why not enjoy the fruits of your labor a bit first?" With that she grinned and slipped away from his side to make her way into the chamber that he had created for them to share, playfully flicking his muzzle with her tail as she went. There would be plenty of time for them to share this amazing gift that Ochre had created with their daughters soon enough... for now she was much more interested in thanking him in the best way she knew how. -fade- |

As Daelos moved around the new den inspecting his work, Ochre hung back simply allowing her to take everything in. Plus, he liked to watch her walk. She wasn't the daintiest of wolves, but to him, she was perfect. Though men where he came from were a pretty womanizing lot, the black and blonde brute had eyes for no one else. His hints seemed to work for a moment later they were breaking in their new den. As always, Ochre was left happy and satisfied. How they didn't have a million pups running around, he didn't know. He assumed that Daelos had been taking precautions all this time. Really, he was happy about that though. Maybe once Aslaug and Elba went and made lives of their own, but he was in no hurry. Ochre liked being surrounded by his girls. If they wished to stay with him for the rest of their lives, he wouldn't complain. After their lovemaking session, Ochre remained sprawled on the cool ground, tail lazily flicking back and forth behind him. He held Dae close to him, one leg draped over her upper body. Gently, he nosed the back of one ear, tongue flicking out to swipe a few rogue hairs back into place. "Are you happy here? Is it everything that you wanted it to be?" His voice was a low rumble. They were so close that he didn't have to speak loudly at all. "Speech" |

Daelos loved how loving and intimate they were - as if that wasn't completely obvious by the way she was now happily laying with him, satisfied and feeling like she was drifting on a cloud. A permanent small smile lingered on her muzzle while one of her paws traced his leg that was laying over her. A contented hum left her when he groomed the back of her ear and if he let her she would just snuggle with him like this for the rest of the day. She knew eventually their daughters would come looking for them or some other duty would call, but these little moments were her favorite. His voice made her open her eyes and she turned her head to be able to see his face as he asked about her happiness in their new home. "I am," she replied after just a beat of thought, her voice just as quiet as his, but in a much more feminine whisper. There wasn't a whole lot of thinking or hesitation that needed to go into answering that question, but she always took his questions seriously and she wanted him to be confident in her answers. Of course she would have told him if she hadn't been happy or if moving here had been a mistake, but she hadn't felt that way as of yet. "There's so many resources here to practice my healing and I'm really enjoying getting to know more of my family... I think this is all going to be a great learning experience for the girls too. A whole new set of wolves to spar and hunt with, new brains to pick with questions." "What about you?" she asked after a beat of silence. He had obviously not been satisfied with their living arrangements, but in true Ochre fashion had gone out and made his own solution. She didn't know if there was anything else that hadn't been sitting well with him thus far or if perhaps she was worrying over nothing. "Are you happy here so far?" |

The pair cuddled in post-coital bliss, content in the silence. He had been the one to eventually break it with his question and it didn't take long at all for Dae to answer. She admitted to being happy here. It was obvious to him that she was, but it was nice to inquire outright just in case there was something that he could improve upon for her. He knew that the girls were happy. The man could see it in their faces. When the question was directed at him, he took a bit longer to reply. Eventually, he began to speak. "I'm happy that you're happy." That much was true. He'd come here for her sake, afterall. "I feel very out of place here." The wolves were so foreign to him in both actions and appearance that he felt a world apart from them. That wasn't to say that he wouldn't eventually integrate with the pack, but for now he needed to hang back and do his own thing. Swinging his green gaze down to his woman, Ochre smiled. "Don't worry about it though. You know how I am." In time, he would be fine. Ochre tugged Daelos close as a gentle breeze wafted through the doorway, bringing with it the sweet scents of spring. "Should we call the girls and let them choose their rooms?" He was content to call them now or wait. He'd leave it up to her. "Speech" |

Daelos frowned a bit as she listened to her mate explain how he felt out of place here. Even when he assured her that she shouldn't worry about it she couldn't help but do just that. She did feel a bit of pressure to make sure he and their girls felt comfortable here and enjoyed being a part of the pack. If they didn't then she felt like it was her fault since she had been the one to suggest they move here. Of course she hoped that it was just a matter of time for him to fully settle in, but there was always that nagging worry in the back of her mind that he wouldn't. It was a silly worry, but she was naturally a worrier as it was. "I know... But if you don't end up being happy here, you'll tell me, right? I like being around my family, but you're much more important to me than they are. I don't want to stay here if you aren't happy." She didn't care if they had to move out of the pack, live in a different pack, or live on their own again. As long as she was with him and they were happy that was what she cared about. He always defaulted to making sure they were happy, but she wanted to make sure he was considered as well. To the suggestion that they call in the girls she smiled again and nodded. They were truly her pride and joy and any time they come up they immediately made her happier. "Yes, lets show them all the work you've done!" She placed a parting lick at the end of his muzzle before rolling back onto her paws and giving her fur a quick shake to get rid of the dust and dirt that was sure to have gotten caught in her pelt. As much as she would love to enjoy snuggling and being with him for the rest of the idea, she couldn't resist seeing their daughter's reaction to their new home. She nuzzled his cheek and offered him a quick grin before slipping out of their room, out through the entrance of the den, and then back out into the outside world. She looked to Ochre with a smile, nudging his side playfully with her shoulder. "Would you like to do the honors?" |

Tell her that he was unhappy? Never. Though he knew that Daelos meant everything she said, he wouldn't deny her or the girls this's place that made them so happy. Just because he was out of sorts didn't mean that he'd uproot all of them. Ochre placed a kiss to the top of his mates head. "Woman, I made this place for us. Do you think I'm going to just leave all of my hard work behind?" He joked with her, nuzzling into the top of her head after. God's, he was the luckiest man alive.
It was time to call the girls. After Dae rose, Ochre did as well. He also shook out his pelt to rid it of clinging debris before padding it off the den. When asked if he'd like to call the girls, he nodded. Lifting his muzzle, Ochres low tones reached through the air, calling for the other two women in his life. He couldn't wait to show them their new rooms in their new home.

Aslaug was pretty much excited when she heard he father's call. She has been exploring the neighboring lands to the pack and she was now returning. And the surprise was great when she came just in time to catch the summon. Quickly like an arrow she darted herself toward where the call came from. Therewith a big smile, she found her parents within a den. "Hi!!!" She said wagging her tail happily, before anything she approached each parent and attempted to lick their cheeks. After that was done she sat down barely containing the excitement. "What sup??" She asked, wondering what they called. "Whacha we doing??" She smiled looking around. |

It wasn't that often that she would hear her father calling for her and her sister since they were often together anyway, but when she did hear him calling for them she knew it was important in some way or another. She had been examining a plant that she wasn't one hundred percent familiar with when she heard his voice and her head immediately popped up. With a grin she turned and made her way toward where he was calling from and it led her to the point where they almost crossed over from the Plains and the Moore. She found her parents pretty easily and walked up to them right after Aslaug. She grinned at them all and looked around curiously as she attempted to figure out why this particular spot was important for them to be at. Surely there had to be some sort of significance to their father calling them to the border of the pack's two territories... Peaking around her mother's shoulder, she spotted the entrance to what looked like a den behind her and her eyes lit up with curiosity. "What's this?" she asked as her tail wagged behind her, looking back and forth between her parents while she waited with barely contained excitement for them to explain what was going on. |

Their daughters appeared quickly, but she hadn't expected anything less from their energetic girls. They always seemed to be zipping around with an amount of energy that she was always amazed by. She couldn't remember if she had been quite as energetic as her children were when she was their age, but she also had to remind herself that she had quite a few more concerns and worries in her life when she was young so she hadn't really had the time or emotional capacity to be as care free as they were. She hoped they never had a reason to go through the kind of stress she had experienced in her first few years. She always wanted them to be as wonderfully joyful as they were now. Both of the girls had been pretty inquisitive about why they had called them here, but it was Elba who had given a pointed look at the den entrance behind them. She chuckled and glanced toward Ochre before replying, "Your father has a surprise for you. He's been very hard at work making this new home for us." She stepped to the side so Elba and Aslaug could take a closer look. Being with her family made her the happiest woman in the world and when she looked back at her mate her eyes were shining with that happiness. She'd let him give them the tour and show them the details of it if he wished - it was his handy work after all. |

The girls both came quickly, running from wherever they'd been prior. Aslaug arrived first and Elba second. They questioned the reason for their summons and Daelos spoke first before turning the floor over to him. Ochre grinned at his girls and, rising, bid them come forward so he could embrace them both. He felt that he was a good father. He denied his children nothing and loved them without question. "Come, I've something to show you." He led the girls into the new den and stood in the large main chamber. The walls and ceiling were reinforced with wood in the forms of trees and saplings. At the back were two similar chambers while on the left closest to the door was the large chamber for himself and his mate. The den was spacious, as were all of the rooms. It would give them space to move and breathe around one another. "Well, what are you waiting for? Choose your rooms." Standing aside, he gave the girls room to decide which room they would each take. Space-wise, they were exactly the same. The differences would come in the way that they each decorated their space. As the girls went about choosing their rooms, Ochre drew his woman close, one foreleg around her shoulders. He placed a kiss upon her brow and looked after the two most important things in his life. "I hope this will be a good home for us." He still had his doubts, but hopefully, with time, he would be at ease here. "Speech" |

Aslaug could barely hold her excitement within her chest, she wanted to jet herself to what they were hiding already. They always knew how to impress the yearling at a point of not being capable of holding herself. The tail wagged with fierce energy behind her and as Elba came after her she gave her sister a big smile. But when her mother spoke, her excitement increased. "Your father has a surprise for you. He's been very hard at work making this new home for us." Once her mother stepped aside she stood up and poked her head inside the den,it was huge. The largest she had ever seen and that made her open her eyes wide in surprise. Her father was the one who gave them the Tour on the new den and she could see three rooms, two of similar size and a bigger one. She took her time to make her pick and at the end she went toward the left one that had some spaces for her to place her stuff. She would need some furs for her bed but she could hunt them anytime as for now, she wanted to explore entering her space. "Ill pick this one!" |
08-30-2020, 08:50 AM
She knew immediately that she had spotted the surprise when her mother started to speak, telling them about how their father had been working on something for them, and she grinned widely with excitement. When he lead them into their new home she eagerly followed and looked around the impressive chamber with awe. There was plenty of room for everything in here and as soon as she saw that she and Aslaug would have separate rooms she got extra excited. She loved living with her family and being around them, but it was also really nice to have her own space that she could customize however she wanted and she wouldn't have to worry about crowding Aslaug with her healing finds and stuff like that. She let her sister pick first and then she grinned and trotted into the room to the right. "Then I'll take this one!" She did a few happy spins in what was how her own personal space, giggling to herself in the process. "Thank you, dad!" she said as she hopped over to him with her tail wagging excitedly, pressing her nose to his cheek. As much as she liked the caves that they had been living in with the rest of their relatives, this felt much more like the dens they used to live in back in their old home and she felt much more at home here. She was especially impressed with how he had used the thin trees and branches to line the walls. It all felt very homey and she liked it very much. |
