Svala set out early in the morning, when the sun had just started to rise. She didn't want to waste any daylight or the chance that she'd find her older sister. Her older sister who supposedly looked just like her. Long ago Lydia had left home on some adventure and then never returned and now that Svala was ready to be off on her own and find a new home she figured the least she could do would be to look for her sister. So far she didn't have much luck though she had met a loner that had seen Lydia head to a land called Boreas. Well Svala had done some digging at that seemed to be where she was now. However, she wasn't expecting it to be such a big and vast land. It was going to take ages to see if she could track down her sister. Much of that assumed that Lydia was still staying in Boreas and hadn't gone off somewhere else.
Well, it was a lovely morning at any rate and Svala wasn't going to waste it dwelling in her den. She took off to go explore the prairie, heading south toward the wooded area that made up its southern border. She hoped to find some one to talk to and ask about her sister but if not at least she could take in the area. The prairie grass shone brilliantly in the sun, rich in golds and greens and she could ear the sounds of birds chirping happily. In the distance there were the howls of coyotes and the cry of hawks. This prairie seemed to be alive with wildlife. It would be an excellent place to snag a meal on her way back if she made sure to head this way again.
Morning was the best time to travel in her opinion. The rest of nature seemed to be waking up as well and she loved the transition from the stillness just before dawn to the sounds of life rising all around her with the sun. The sun was almost free of the horizon, casting its amber tones over the land and growing golder by the moment. Morning was also a good time to travel in the spring and summer months. When noon arrived it was going to be hot but by then she figured she be tired and ready for a well earned break. Then she'd have enough energy to travel in the evening when the sun was working on its downward path.
The prairie was a beautiful patch of land, she had to admit. The fact that it was teaming with flora and fauna only doubled the beauty of the place. It was kind of surprising that there wasn't a pack already here. Spring flowers were blooming all around her in dozens of colors and the sweet smell was enjoyable. However, as she walked she picked up another sweet smell on the breeze that wasn't quite what she expected from the flowers. Svala paused and scented the air, trying to pick up what she was smelling and finally she got a good hold of the scent and started following it. It took a bit to start following it. Svala carried on with where she was going. It was a nice day to just go and follow the scent. She didn't have any where to be and no one to order her about. Svala did plan to join a pack eventually but she had to admit it was rather nice living as a loner in the warmer months. She didn't like being bogged down with responsibility.
Oh, shoot. Svala stopped. She lost the scent as the wind shifted. Tilting her head and walking a few steps she worked at trying to pick the scent up again but wasn't having much luck. Well, that was the way things seemed to go some times. She could at least enjoy her walk. Svala carried on going in the same direction she had been when the wind brought the scent back to her. She shifted her course just slightly to follow the scent and found it leading her toward the southern forest. As she got closer she recognized the scent as honey. She could hear the gentle hum of bees and as she looked about in the trees she saw their hive. It was a nice scent but Svala knew enough about bees not to want to bother them. She craved meat more so than honey any way. Svala did settle down in the shade of the trees for a moment to watch the bees buzzing back and forth and to listen to the sound of their buzzing. As long as she kept away they didn’t seem overly concerned about her presence. Eventually, though, it was time to carry on her journey so Svala got to her feet and headed on her way.
