Eir was here to craft,to create something she could use later, but what? There was a lot of things she could do with what lied beside her. A dead cougar she killed some days ago lied there. She had carefully removed the meat and the fur was on her den back in Lirim, yet to be used as well. But today she was wanting to craft a helmet with the skull of the fallen feline. Of the cougar, she had the bones, most of it. Skull and other parts were going to be used.A cord to thin leather was also going to be used and a few wood sticks as well. While the skull was for the helmet the rest of the bones were for some knives. Calmly she was ready to start. Hopefully she could get something for her to use in the future. It was time for her to carry on her ancestor's arts of weaponry and armory crafting. |

Shilah decided to take a break from the festival to do some crafting. He had a piece of deer hide full of various items for making a sling and also some ammo for it. As he moved through the field he spied another woman working on crafts of her own. He approached and set down his bundle of items. "Hello there! My name is Shilah. How are you today?" He settled down and pulled out pieces of leather to use as the cords for his sling. He set three strands down, carefully tying a knot at the top of them to tie them together before he started working through and braiding the strands into one stronger strange. He then tied a knot at the end to finish it. One strand was a fair amount of work so he opted to take a break before starting the second one.
Tail wagging he started sniffing around the prairie looking for smooth rocks that he could throw with his sling.
Scratching around in the dirt he found a few different stones that might work. Shilah picked them up in his jaws and trotted back to where he had his items. He set one rock down then went to fetch another. When he had three rocks he licked the dirt out of his mouth and moved to braid a second strand of leather.

Lynvarr followed after Shilah to work on his own project. He enjoyed hanging out with the other man though he was far chattier than Lynvarr. That had an advantage though as he didn't really need to talk. Shilah talked enough for the both of them. He dipped his head in greeting toward the woman. "Hello, I'm Lynvarr." He settled down with his project, pulling out a stick that was about two feet long. He started stripping the leaves and extra branches off the stick so that he could fashion it into the handle for a bone axe. At least he was going to try anyway. He knew generally how this was done but it had been so long since he'd tried he wasn't sure if he remembered how.

Eir stretched her limbs, ready to beging today's mission,a mission or building up something for improving a bit her fights. But yet she knew no one should rely on something beside one's original strength. Yes Armor could make things easier but what made someone a good warrior or not was the skill. And there two strangers found their way to herself. It seemed they both had similar intentions as her, crafting was in their mind. "Hello," She said calmly. Both introduced themselves to which she nodded. "Eir,and I am fine what about you both?" After that she focused on her own affairs. Placing the skull between her frontal legs. There she stood up,she needed to separate the lower jaw from the rest as she was going to use just the upper one. Opening it she pressed just a bit and it popped out. |

Shilah smiled as the woman introduced herself as Eir. "I am doing wonderfully. It's such a nice sunny day. I hope we get more good weather this week."
Shilah examined the cords and decided that they were good. The next part of the sling was going to make the leather pouch. He pulled out a piece of leather and started chewing on it to make a small, paw-sized strip. He worked and chewed thoughtfully. It was a nice activity to occupy a busy mind and a fidgety body. Once he had the leather sized he bit down hard on each corner of the sling pouch to puncture holes for the cords to go through.
Taking a break from all that chewing Shilah mulled over the rocks that he'd found. Some where round enough to be used right away and others were close but not quite what he wanted so he opted to shape them a little. He had a granite stone with him which he set out. He then took some of the stones he thought he could shape and started rubbing them against the granite while holding the granite stone in place with his paws. He worked til he had a few of them shaped a bit better. Some of them he'd just have to try and if they weren't good he'd just set them aside.

"I'm fine," said Lynvarr. He let Shilah do most of the talking though he was curious what Eir was working on so he decided to ask. "What's that you're making?" Hopefully she wouldn't think he was being nosey.
Turning his attention back to his own project he gave the stick a good look before deciding to move on. After finishing with the stick and fashioning it into a handle for his axe Lynvarr turned his attention to the blade. He had a piece of shoulder blade that had been broken and chipped into more blade like pieces but they still needed to be shaped. He set to work chewing on the bone, working to smooth and straighten one side while trying to sharpen and curve the other into a sharpe blade.

She nodded at the first male answer, the weather was indeed beautiful but she felt no desire to speak over the weather not now that she was on another business. Then as she separated the jaws, she would get the upper region. That was the part of the skull she wanted to use. Then with a stick she would try to line it with one of the places where it joined both jaws.In the joint of it, holding the stick with her paws and taking a rock on her maw she would start hammering it, trying to make a hole on the place she wanted and she needed to apply the right force, she didn't want to fracture more than she should. After making the first hole she moved to the other one. "A helmet, with this cougar skull." |

Shilah gathered his pieces. He set the pouch in front of him and them placed a piece of the leather cord on either side of the pouch. Picking up one of the leather strands he tied a knot in one end then repeated the process with the other. While he was willing to see how well the leather knots held up, knowing that the sling was going to be used with a fair amount of force in order to throw stones he opted to melt some pine pitch and reinforce the knots hold. As soon as the pitch dried he threaded the leather through and then tied and sealed another knot to make sure the cord didn't slip through and cause him to lose the pouch. He pulled the leather cords tight so that the leather pouch formed more of a pouch than a flat piece.
He took a quick break to rest his jaws, listening as Eir stated she was making a skull helmet. "That's looking good. Are you a warrior then?"
Shilah let the sling rest as he moved his attention back to the ammo. He picked up one of the stones and set it gently in the pouch to see how well it held. Not bad. Some of the stones were too big and he'd rather have one that was too small rather than too big so it wasn't constantly falling out of the patch. He continued this process until at last he had a set of ammo picked out for his sling.

Lynvarr chewed a little more then tested the point. It was workable for what he intended and he moved his attention back over to the pitch glue he had. Picking up the stick of pitch glue he held it over the fire to warm it until it was soft and pliable. Moving back over to the handle he created he held it between his front paws and then rubbed the pitch down one side of the stick. He set the pitch aside, leaning it up against the rock before picking up the bone blade and pressing it into the pitch on the handle. He wanted to make sure the blade fit into the crevice he'd chewed so he pressed a bit harder and then held it there with a paw as he went back to the pitch and added more to stick the axe head in really well.

After she made the holes to both sides, she was now ready to use the cord. Slowly she passed it over one of the holes, careful of not breaking it on a mistake. Then he would make a tide on that hole, with the other cord she repeated the same action, and now with both long cords handing on the place, she decided to try it, placing the skull over her head, riding both cords hard enough so the helmet was on its place. She turned to the male who spoke. "Yes,I am a warrior of Lirim," She said calmly, looking at what the others were doing. "And what are you two doing?" She asked back. |

"Ah, and how do you like Lirim? I've trained to fight but I think of myself more as an explorer." He was nomadic in nature and preferred to go exploring more than getting into fights. "I'm making a sling to throw rocks. I'm hoping to find a way to ward off bears and other predators before they get to close to me." He'd rather drive a bear off while it was still relatively far away than have to engage in close combat.
He was mostly done with his sling and ammo so in addition he decided to work on a spearhead. That would be another way to ward bears off before they got to close. He could attach it to a spear later when he found a good stick to use.
Shilah had a few fragments of sheep bone from the shoulder blade that he'd dropped a stone on to fracture. Pulling out one of the fragments from his scrap of deer hide he set it between his paws and started to chew on the piece, working the larger fragment down into a smaller one that he could more effectively shape it. He wanted something of a decent size, longer than it was wide. Shilah settled in and chewed carefully to shape the fragment.

Lynvarr looked over to the woman as she stated she was a warrior of Lirim. He was curious to hear what the pack was like though he wasn't sure he cared to live out in the west. Shilah seemed to really like it but it was too hot for him. "I'm just working on making a bone axe. I don't know how helpful it will be in a fight but its worth trying a few things." He also planned to work on some wood spears. He hoped to set them up outside of his den to ward off large predators like bears. He trotted over to where he'd brought a few branches. He looked through them to find a long, fairly straight one. Picking it up in his jaws he trotted back to the group and settled down to work. He wasn't the best at conversation so he left most of that to Shilah.
