Attor had been dutifully exploring, listening to the demands of her mind to 'do something before you die of boredom.' A place of interest of hers had been the Gambit Briar, as she had first discovered the area during a storm, taking shelter in the edges of the forest, not daring to go any deeper. The entire night had been filled with the sounds of strange monsters. as well as the whistle of the wind just outside of the old fox den she had crammed herself into. It was uncomfortable, but with ample wiggling, she had made it work. Attor hadn't slept, her mind plagued with unfounded fears, that were based around the deep growls and bellows she heard from deeper within the briar.
Attor made a clicking sound with her teeth, shaking her head to rid herself of the unpleasant memory. Having traveled from a nearby stream back to this hell-hole of territory, she now stood at the edges of the forest. The briar was already peeking through in some parts, making her grimace. She had been tangled in something similar before, and it had not been fun. Her eyes closed as she took a moment to simply be, her freshly washed coat being light on her back and cleansing her foul mood. Attor wasn't one to pride herself on her appearance, she knew that was not her strong point. However, it was nice to feel clean and almost....pretty on some days. Her lip curled at the thought of her being pretty. Pretty was weak and Attor was NOT weak.
The woman's eyes opened, a new calmness in her usually cold gaze as she peered into the thicket that was Gambit Briar. Attor moved to push her way into the forest, careful to avoid any of the sharp thorns. In the first few minutes of her walk, the briar was relatively tame. It curled around some trees and hid in the lower bushes, sure, but it wasn't overwhelming. Hearing a gentle buzz, the woman's ears perked in interest. Attor's head turned in the direction the sound had come from, her ears perking at the odd noise. Her eyes landed on a small, yellow and black bug. She watched in silence for a few moments, until the bee was out of sight. However, the sound seemed to continue, actually growing louder as she began to move opposite of the bug. Attor was both curious, as well as uneasy. The woman decided, with an annoyed huff, that she would investigate the source of the angry buzzing.
After walking towards the source for quite some time, the buzz was almost deafening. A scent had also appeared in the air, sweet and almost flowery. She took a deep inhale, eyes closed as she simply enjoyed the moment. Suddenly, the smell of a coyote graced her, the same time the sweet scent grew stronger. Her eyes whipped open in time to see a coyote slam into her side, a thick, golden goop plastering itself on her fur, as well as chunks of some strange bark. At least that's what she assumed it was. And then she realized. That was honey. And those little bugs were bees. She snarled at the coyote, a string of curses flying from her mouth as she watched the scoundrel flee for his life. She turned to lick at the goop, annoyed that her clean fur had been tarnished. Suddenly, the sound of buzzing grew incredibly loud, and Attor glanced up in time to see a swarm of bees descending upon her.
Attor had never known true speed until the moment stings landed in between and around her shoulders. She moved without thinking, pivoting on her heel and racing towards where she had come from. There wasn't a moment of silence as she ran, curses of unknown origin slinging from her lips as if it was a song. She ran with her tail tucked between her legs and one of the fiercest snarls she could muster. Being as deep in the briar as she was, it was impossible to avoid all the thorns, and so her forelegs and chest were soon covered in thin scratches. Each time a new one appeared, her roar of some random curse rang through the forest.
"IT ALWAYS HAPPENS TO ME. ALWAYS," she had roared, in between her song of many curses. A whine of relief escaped her maw as she spotted the plains and the distant river through the gaps in the briar. The woman made a valiant leap, somersaulting over herself and flopping on the outside of the briar. She was quick to scramble to her feet, knowing whatever distance she had put between herself and the little fuzzy fuckers wasn't nearly enough. She high tailed it towards the stream, only occasionally cursing. Her eyes had welled with tears, but the angry snarl on her lips had never fallen from her maw. She had no clue how long she had ran nor how far, but the joy she felt upon diving into the stream was akin to watching the birth of your firstborn. Digging her paws into the rocky bottom of the river, she stayed submerged up to her nostrils, her eyes peering behind her towards the distant swarm of bugs in the air. Bubbles blew from her nose as she sighed in relief, as it appeared as the evil creatures had stopped their murderous pursuit of the woman. Attor did not leave the water for some time after that.
