It had been months since the broken male had ventured this far beyond his home boundaries. And it had been even longer since he had chosen to come to this area. Walking through the blackened sand of the obsidian beach had torn a fresh piece from his heart. But he trudged through nonetheless, following the scent of a friend. Now Dayton stood at the edge of a pack territory, a bit at a loss. He had no doubt in his mind that Crucifix was here, but why? Hadn't the brute always been a seeker of freedom? He was the one who had chased a sunset and scoffed at love. Dayton would have never guessed that the man would join a pack someday, but here he was. The russet boy cracked a smile, something that was rare these days, and sent a calm howl into the evening air. He wanted to stay a safe distance away and not cause any trouble with this pack. But he also wanted to speak with his closest friend. These were troubling times for the boy, times that could not be overcome alone.

Finally and fully healed it was easy to enjoy the freedom of running across the packland. The cool wind in his coat was fresh and painless, and his paws moved easily beneath him. There was a time when he thought he would never be well again. Now that he was fully whole in mind and body he couldn't shake lose his worry for friends and family, having been placed in charge by Vi his responsibilites where firmly on Covari, even if his heart was reaching to other places.

When a familier howl touched the air it was an instant ease to past fears and worries. He took a deep breath and a grin would spread easily across his muzzel as he turned and took an easy stride to the edges of the pack. In moments the familier form would come into view, and he took in the browns of the boy he gladly called his best friend. His gaze would sweep across him for signs of illness, and he came away from that check even happier. He pulled to a stop before him and sat his rump against the ground, a grin tugging at the corners of his lips. Day couldn't even begin to guess.. he grinned wider at the thought of telling his friend his temporary position of King within Covari. ?Day, my friend, what brings you to... My borders? he flashed another grin.

Only a few moments were spared between the call and the arrival. Dayton did not have to wait long, for soon his closest friend was emerging through the trees. The smaller brute took in the familiar peppered coat and violet eyes, a slow smile spreading across his lips. Crucifix walked with his head held high, as always, but now there was a new confidence in his step. It was a kind of pride that Dayton had seen before, but seeing it here filled them with a sort of surprise. How could Crucifix survive in a pack when he displayed such dominance? The russet boy would force his smile to remain as his friend sat across from him. All other thoughts were pressed aside as words entered the air. Dayton felt his jaw drop. No wonder Crucifix had possessed such confidence in his stride.

He was momentarily stunned by the flashing grin that followed such words. Surely he wasn't joking? "Crucifix, my friend," the young man stammered out. "Can this be true? These borders belong to you? How did this happen?" Many questions would issue themselves from the his lips. But who could blame him? It was a lot to take in. In the brief silence that followed, Dayton simply stared his friend and awaited an explanation.

Walk."Talk."Think.

The reaction he got from his friend was perhaps in part what he was trying to achieve. He would laugh now, a deep chuckle through his teasing expression. Day seemed at a loss now and Cru lowered himself to his hunches before Day, waiting for the boy to recollect himself and speak again, he called Cru his friend and a warmth spread in his chest at the acknowledgment. He had not seen Day for a while, but he still considered this Russet boy his best friend and was deeply glad the other still shared the feeling.

They had been through a lot together these two, Cru had even saved his life when the other had been foolish enough lose himself to his feelings. Not that Cru could blame him, not know that he had experienced similar sadness with Othello. ?It?s not exactly true? Crucifix laughed ?I?m actually the Beta, and a close friend to the Alpha here. I?m looking after the pack well she goes and gives the cure to the others ? It was our healers in Covari that found the cure? he said with, with deep pride to the pack he called home. ?And so long as I am temporary Alpha, and even as Beta, your welcome within these borders Day? he promised, closing the distance now to nudge the boy with a shoulder ? to show that it did not matter what Cru?s position was, they were best friends.
