Halloween 2020 - Witches Hut
10-04-2020, 06:07 PM
It was a fine morning, and Abby sought to make use of any free time she had.

She was aware that getting adjusted to the schedule and work was the easy part, but successfully intergrating into a new social heirarchy was another story. Basically, she needed to make friends. Unfortunately, she had no clue how. Her talk with Bait had proven to her just how little she knew the wolves around her, which she sought to fix as soon as possible. If she were to adapt and be of use to this pack, she'd need to know who she was dealing with first.

She walked through the fields, seeking the company of anyone who would tolerate her.

Abby is completely blind as of this thread. The curse will lift on the first day of winter.
Abby has a common brush tailed possum companion named Bell. She’s Abby’s guide dog until her curse is lifted. If she’s not mentioned assume she is close by/present.

Darya really didn't leave the flock much anymore. When once she might have at least gone out and tried to find Jupiter or felt the need to try and earn her keep now it was the only thing keeping her from totally crumbling apart. Having to look after the pack's herd gave her something to focus on that wasn't how totally and utterly miserable she was, and if she wasn't focusing on that then she was at least up and functioning. Not that had stopped her from having more than a few breakdowns in the days since the party, and especially since the wedding. So she tried to keep her mind on simple flock related tasks, on keeping track of where the sheep and goats had gone, on counting them over and over again. The counting especially helped, it was something she could do repeatedly through the day and required all her mental capacity.

Darya was looking even less kept than she had at the wedding, her once well-muscled frame was now turning somewhat meager, though she still stood at a towering height and could easily look imposing anyone who knew her would be able to tell she'd lost some significant weight... and quickly. As usual hay had managed to weave it's way into her fur, but some stalks were visibly older than others now, she clearly hadn't cared enough to clean herself in some days. All in all, she was wearing the fact she'd recently fallen into depression quite plainly. Hellfire gaze swept over the sheep, once more turning to counting to distract herself from the pang of heartache in her chest. This time though she saw more than the sheep, an unknown form moving towards them. Darya's usual anxiety flared then, her limbs locking as she realized the stranger was moving towards her. Then because she'd stopped for a second, the tears she was constantly fighting back broke free of her fragile control.

So it was she would be found there, standing among Fireside's sheep and goats, frozen in place, sobbing and looking very much not okay.

The mottled girl glimpsed the tall figure past the sheep, and she approached calmly but with purpose. However, her determination faded with every step she took towards the grey wolf. She had seen wolves that met the other's height before, the pack was full of them. But something about they way she seemed to loom over her with every step forward Abby took. She met her red eyes, refusing to give in to fear. But then the other started crying.

Oh great, another crazy person. She remembered talking a wolf with a few screws loose last season, but Fitz had been certainly more subtle about his lack of sanity. This unkempt woman looked terrifying. Abby fought hard to stop her tail from curling beneath her legs.

In a final attempt to seem brave, she straightened her posture. "Hello. I'm Abby." She said, forcing the words from her constricting throat. Tyrian had warned her about the wolves of Fireside, and yet she still hadn't prepared herself. If anything, this was her own fault. This was her first opportunity to make friends with this wolf, as she wouldn't let her childish fears get in the way. Still, the way those red eyes peered from the stranger's unsettingly skull-like face was the stuff of nightmares.
