Káti had to admit he was a bit intimidated by the quiet warrior he was crafting with. The other man had seen him gathering hazel branches for atlatl darts and the two struck up a conversation that ultimately resulted in them deciding to spend some time crafting together. It was true they'd battled together a couple times now but fighting for one's life was not usually the best time to try and get to know someone.  Still, at least the other man didn't seem bothered by silence, that took some pressure of Káti to try and think of interesting conversation.

Instead Káti focused on the work he was doing. He continued to chew on the base of the hazel bush until he freed a nice, mostly straight branch. He then moved to stripping the leaves and offshoots from it. Once that was done he took a piece of deer shed in his mouth and started chewing on the antlers, seeking to remove the tines so he'd have something that could be used to launch the dart. Granted an atlatl for a wolf wasn't the best of ideas but if his companion ever caught up to him he was sure the lemur would appreciate the gesture.

Lynvarr followed Káti to the craft site with a number of bones held securely in his mouth. He planned to work on making a bone knife and maybe a few other odds and ends while he was at it. Setting down with his items he pulled out the piece of bone she wanted to work on and started chewing on it. He worked with his teeth for a bit but realizing this would take awhile he stood up and grabbed a nearby rock. Lynvarr lifted the rock high and dropped it on the bone til it cracked. This would give him a better starting point. Lynvarr separated the pieces before realizing one of the pieces would also make a good arrowhead. Well… while he was chewing. Lynvarr carefully picked up the smaller bone fragment and began to fine tune the shape with his teeth.

Káti chewed away at the antler, working to free the tines from the main section that he planned to work into a rough atlatl shape. The sound of fangs on bone echoed in his ears as he worked. This was tough work on his teeth but he wasn't sure if there was a better way. His paws weren't the most coordinated but maybe he could find a way to do this with a knife or piece of steel in the future.

Taking a break from the atlatl he moved his attention to the dart. Taking the stick over to a sharp, fractured rock he started scraping one end of the stick to sharpen it. Káti used one of his paws to help aim the stick as he twisted his head and scraped. When at last he had a good point he moved over to the fire and stuck the point in the ash harden it. As soon as it turned black he pulled it from the fire and set it aside. "What do you think the winter will bring, Lynvarr?"

Lynvarr chewed on the bone fragment, sharpening one end into a blade-like point before moving to the other side. He didn't mind the sound of his fangs on bone or the sound of Káti's on the antler. He paused in his chewing at Káti's question. "Cold and lot's of snow. I have the feeling its going to be a bad winter but its hard to say for sure. This will be my first winter in Boreas. What about you? Do you live here?"

Lynvarr moved back to the knife. He kept chewing away at the bone to start shaping the piece into something more like a blade. He worked diligently until he got the shape he desired. Lynvarr then took the blade in his jaws and carefully started running it over a nearby stone to sharpen and sculpt and smooth out some of his rough tooth marks.

Káti pulled a few turkey feathers out of his travois to add fletching to his atlatl dart. Placing one of the feathers in between his paws he took his bone knife and cut the feather in half before chewing off the excess point. Káti then took his pine pitch stick and started to heat the pitch over the fire. Once it started to melt he spread some on the back end of the dart, carefully positioning the stick with his paws so it didn't roll over. Then he gingerly set the pitch stick down then picked up one of the feather halves and stuck it onto the stick, holding onto the feather until he was sure it was dry. Once one feather was done he added two more so there were three positioned evenly to form dart fletching.

Káti turned his attention back to the atlatl. He had the tines removed now and all that was left was the base of the antler. He started chewing on it to form a notch that would help hold the dart in place. "This will be my first winter in Boreas as well."

Lynvarr chewed a few more chunks off the other side of bone before deciding he had a pretty decent spear head. The point still needed to be refined a bit so he took the blade in his teeth and started rubbing it against a large stone to fine tune the point. Once that was done he took the bone knife in his teeth again and worked to sharpen and refine that one a bit more now that he had the smaller spearhead finished. He nodded at Káti's words. So it was the other man's first Boreas winter as well. That was good to know. He supposed he ought to find a native and ask what the winter's were usually like but he was familiar with northern winters and figured he might as well expect the same of the northern regions of Boreas.
