Lynvarr and Shilah continued their exploration, moving from the maw and into the Polar Sound with the eventual destination planned for the Waterfall Peak, Lynvarr's home, at least for the next season or so. When they arrived at their destination Lynvarr found himself staring in awe as the entered a fertile valley with giant, sheer cliffs on either side, running all the way to the ocean. So far north the air was already starting to feel just a touch cool, even though it was still summer. However, the conditions looked fair for travel with a brilliant blue sky stretching out above them. Lynvarr continued his practice of marking their trail by scratching into a nearby gangly pine tree with his claws. He didn't care to get lost on the way and this was a new territory for him.

"So, Shilah, where is it you intend to make your home for the winter?" He was expecting something of a rough winter but it would be his first in Boreas so he couldn't necessarily make that prediction.

Shilah trotted along after Lynvarr, enjoying the cooler breeze in the higher climate that lead into the northern territories. Though as they traveled northwards they started slowly working their way down and down until they arrived at the entrance to a valley surrounded by sheer cliffs stretching high up into the sky. "Whoa…" Shilah had grown up on an expansive grassland, seeing the mountains rising so high was a truly impressive site. He glanced at the sky, pleased to see there was little in the way of clouds to impede their journey. As Lynvarr paused to work on his trail marking, Shilah pulled out his map and sketched in the shape of the valley, simply using two lines to mark the cliff faces.

He sighed heavily at Lynvarr's question. "I have no idea. I'd prefer to settle down somewhere warmer I think. I'm looking at the western territories but I haven't settled on one. There seem to be a couple packs there as well. Pack life isn't what I'm used to but perhaps I should give it a try before I swear it off completely."

Lynvarr worked his way along the valley floor, walking along the short grasses that blanketed the earth. He leapt over a few rocks covered in lichens and continued on his way, pausing only to admire a couple waterfalls that streamed down the cliff face. The water crashed and tumbled down til it struck the ocean water below. "This is a lovely area, not much for prey though that I can see. I intend to join a pack myself though I can't say for sure which one." He hadn't really tried to hard to learn about the packs here yet but he would eventually. He'd caught scents of a pack in the north but had not yet determined if he'd stay in the region.

The wind shifted, blowing down from the north with a chill bite to it. He could see gray clouds starting to form on the horizon. Still, at least they were a ways off. He used his claws to mark another tree. "To be honest I'm not sure how long I'll stay here. I don't know if it will be for a few years or forever…"

Shilah shifted his course just slightly to get a better look at one of the water falls that careened down the slate rock face of the valley walls. It struck the ground, cutting several feet across rock and into the ocean. Shilah bent his head to drink from the clear, cool water between the falls and the sea. Licking his lips he nodded thoughtfully to Lynvarr. "It's always hard to guess what the future will hold. I can't say I have much of a plan, just going where my feet take me." He noticed Lynvarr looking to the horizon. "I wonder if it will rain later tonight. I hope we can cover more ground before that happens." He imagined they probably could. The wind didn't seem to terribly strong yet. Shilah quickly sketched a few marks to signify the falls on his map before tucking it away. He leapt onto a lichen-covered rock, perching there for a moment before loping along to catch up with Lynvarr.

Lynvarr nodded as he watched clouds that lingered low on the horizon. "I think we should be fine." He continued on his way, admiring the level of greenery that adorned the rocks this far north. The ocean inlet cut deep into valley and as he eyed the water he soon saw a dark head bobbing up and down out of it. A seal? He eyed the creature for a moment but opted to let it be. He wasn't hungry and he wasn't looking for a fight either so as long as the seal left them alone he was content to ignore it. He worked his way over to a nearby tree and scratched another marker in though the path was fairly limited. It would get harder though. To get to the Waterfall Peak they'd need to cut east which meant scaling some of the sheer rock walls that bordered the valley. Well, it couldn't be helped. He turned their course and started the climb, hoping they could make it to the top before nightfall.

Shilah had to admit that compared to most of the northern territories he'd seen this one was rather beautiful, at least in the valley portion. He just wished there was a bit more solid ground to traverse. The inlet cut through most of the valley. The temperature was good and he was pleased Lynvarr had come to a similar conclusion regarding the weather. Shilah found a good rock to write on. He unfurled his map once more and marked the inlet as best as he could, pausing only when he heard the bark of the seal. Shilah was inclined to get a closer look but it seemed Lynvarr was anxious to get on the move. The larger male was already climbing up the cliff wall. Shilah quickly rolled up his map and secured it before climbing up after the other navigator who he hoped to call his friend. He wasn't the best at starting these types of relationships but he was eager to try. The life of a lone wolf wasn't for him.
