Against the odds Valkyrie had conceived out of season during her honeymoon. She'd taken it as a sign she'd made the right call. Why else would the gods have granted her favor so soon? The ensuing months had been nothing spectacular and she'd weathered it in a similarly mundane fashion. Now it was time to bring forth that new life. Her bed had been made, the appropriate wolves notified, and when the time came everyone had been sent from her presence. She was a no fuss sort of woman and neither wanted nor needed anyone hovering. If there were complications she'd call the relevant parties to her - but not a moment sooner.

The contractions kept her mind occupied for some time. Valkyrie knew what to expect but that hadn't stopped the process from surprising her. Hours passed and then, blessedly, the worst of it was over. At her side were five healthy, vivacious newborns. She couldn't have been happier. They were a fine crew; a raiding party all by themselves. Some already showed signs of ferocity. Her licks and touches that disturbed them were met with the occasional squeaky growl, and each time she heard it her heart swelled.

Valkyrie laid her head down and waited for much needed sleep to claim her. The pups were here and the work was done, but she didn't feel like making a scene or sharing these moments with anyone who might fawn or coo. She loathed the thought and was liable to claw anyone who tried. The peace that was here now was all that she wanted. Later, when she had the patience for it, Valkyrie would introduce her newborns to the wider world. If Chaos were to join her she would let him for he deserved this as much as she did, but everyone else would be wise to keep their distance.
