Well. Apparently his groveling needed some work, clearly he had been spoiled with Asla’s good humor. He had forgotten what it was like to have a Master where you could do no right. As the angry witch came closer, and his vision grew ever dimmer, intense pain began to blossom along his body. A howl slipped free before he choked off the sound. A muscle in his neck spasmed as he held in the pain. breathe, breathe he knew pain. They were old friends, it had just been a while since they had last met.

He barely heard the witch’s parting words. shuddering , sighing Basilisk sank slowly to the ground. “East, head East. find the Armada, find Asla.” He whispered to the bear, and then unconsciousness took the pain away.

Panic was the first thing that struck the girl when the bear surged into her den. She knew that it was Bas's bear, but she didn't know why it had such a strange look on its face. The answer soon came to light. Basilisk was injured. He needed help. Panic clung hard as the injured young woman tried to figure out what to do. How in the hell was she going to get anywhere with a broken leg?

It took a short while, but eventually Aslatiel had formed a plan. With Bas's bear and Ashur, she was able to hook them up to her aunt Io's small cart. The bear would be able to lead them back to where Bas was and could drag Bas back in the cart, depending on his injuries. It all made sense, right? Gods, she hoped so. Without telling anyone where she was going, the trio set out on their journey. Thankfully it wasn't winter yet or their trek would have been even more arduous. As it was, it was difficult to traverse the swamp.

In time, they made their way far enough that Aslatiel could see a russet colored spot on the horizon. The nearer they came, the more confident she was that the spot was the prone form of Basilisk. The cart rolled to a stop beside the big wolf and Asla practically fell out of the cart trying to get to his side. Only the snarl of Ashur reminded her just how broken she was. The leopard helped her gingerly down from the cart. She leaned against him as they moved to Bas's side. Asla gave him a visual inspection, brows knitted together. She could see nothing physically wrong. There was no blood, thankfully. Then what was going on? "Bas, what happened?" Moving forward, she pressed her legs against his body to let him know where she was. His eyes... they looked strange.

Basilisk was jostled back to consciousness when another arrived. He was overwhelmed with the familiar scent of her. His eyes opened, but the blackness of night remained. Her scent and the sound of her voice seemed… sharper, in comparison to the nothingness his eyes produced. He stared blankly around the spot her voice emanated from. “You wont… you wont believe the day i’ve had, Mistress.” he whispered.

“I… I hear by request permission to leave your service.” he had asked his bear to fetch her, but now he wasn’t sure if he had done so to seek her help, or to say goodbye. He was blinded, praised. He was as much good as a wart on a bum.

“I… I am no longer fit to serve you, Mistress. I am blind and crippled, I have failed you.” his voice shook for the first time near the end, his control failing him. He did not want to leave Asla. did not want her to leave him behind. Something had grown between them, something small and fragile and new. It would be broken now, as ruined as his body had become.

The girls brow furrowed as he spoke. He didn't seem to be in any pain either. So, again, what in the hell was going on here? His words made no sense. It looked to her like he was just laying there. Like he could get up at any moment and everything would be okay. Yet he claimed to be blind and crippled? "What happened?" Aslatiel needed to know. She needed to get Basilisk back to Iolaire so that she could heal him. Asla's heart hammered in her chest. Of course she had feelings for Bas. He was her guard. Her friend. She didn't want anything to happen to him. This whole situation was just so strange.

His next words brought her movements to a halt. Permission to leave her service? It was a good thing that he couldn't see, for her gaze probably would have turned him to stone. When she was finally able to speak, her words were sharp and cold like ice in the veins. "Basilisk, you will never ask that of me again." It was an order. An honest to god, straight forward order. He would never again request to leave her service. In this instance, she would most definitely play the part of master. What a moron...

"Help me get him in the cart." Aslatiel spoke to the bear and leopard. Together, the three of them would do their best to hoist the giant form of Bas into the cart. That only left the problem of how Asla was going to get all the way home. Ashur and the bear couldn't pull them both. Without a choice, she would do her best to walk. If anything, they could come back for her later. She wasn't at risk though. Bas was. She would gladly sit out in the swamp for a while until she could be fetched.
