Teaching others was certainly a novelty to the young warrior, being his only time the day he gave Meadow a lesson about spars. But the story ended there. But now that he held a rank of great responsibility he knew that someday the day would come, the day of resuming that path. The new wave of new blood filled the pack, it seemed like life was finding its way within the Hallows. That was good but was a pack this new ready? Well, he knew he held no right nor the obligation to complain. But well along as they would contribute to the pack someday he held no further concerns.

But leaving that to a side, he had to do something Resin herself put upon him. A lesson oriented for ironically the youth of the pack. It was his time to teach the new generation, those who will become the future strength of the pack. A strength they needed and he was ready to help on that.

He made sure to choose a safe place for the young and if the other templars or Resin washed to assist too he was fine with it. Urasa his companion sat by his side and having tough well what he was to teach today he lifted his head and hollowed for any pup or whoever sought to learn the roots of fighting.

OC- All pups are encouraged to assist, but anyone else who wants to learn to fight they can join in aswell. Ill post against in two weeks from this post.

"Come on, Rudy, we're gonna be late!" Artorias shouted back to his monochromatic brother, bouncing and running as fast as his puppy legs could carry him. He yapped eagerly as he led the way towards the falls where Resin had told them to go to meet their new fighting instructor. Artorias had never been so ready for a lesson in all his life! Everything else had always been boring, with him and his brother often running off to play or explore on their own. But this... this was fighting! It was everything the boy had wanted to learn since forever!

This was it. A journey of a thousand miles always began with a single step, and today marked the first step in a long road for young Artorias. Since he had been old enough to speak and to listen, he had been enthralled with the stories his mothers told him and his siblings about their days as mighty warriors, powerful knights devoted to the protection of their packs and their loved ones. The tales of gore and glory had captivated the awestruck pup, and it was then that he knew where his destiny lay. Artorias would follow in his mothers' pawsteps, dedicating his life to the protection of his kin. So long as he drew breath, no creature or force in this world would do harm to those he loved. But while the fantastical daydreams of a mighty wolf warrior tearing through swaths of his enemies filled his head, the small pup knew he had a lot of work to put in to make that fantasy a reality. And that work began today.

At his mother Resin's urging, Artorias had gone to find Rudy and sought out the tri-colored male—what was his name again, Dunkan?—at one of the glades surrounding the waterfalls and pools that made up a bulk of his homeland. The black and blue coated boy saw the larger man setting up their training arena, preparing for his students. Excitement welled up in his fiery amber eyes. This was it! His first official fighting lesson! He gave a yap back at Rudyard, making sure his brother was keeping pace, but knowingly staying a few leaps ahead so he couldn't get tackled by the rambunctious boy. Without a trace of nervousness or shyness, Artorias padded up to the adult man, ready to begin. "Hi, I'm Artorias!" he greeted his new instructor with a big smile and wagging tail. "Are you gonna teach us how to be the best fighters ever?"

Walk | "Talk" | think

“We are not,” Rudy indignantly called back at Art.  Even if anyone tried to sell him on them being late the grey coated pup would deny it.  Nope, fashionably on time is what it would be considered now.  Rudy knew without a doubt he would be great some day.  He would learn one skill then another and so on.  Mom-Resin had even said she could teach him about being a leader, proof that he was meant to be amazing.

Art had been smart this time, as Rudy followed behind he noticed Art wasn’t letting him get in range for another surprise attack.  That was fine, there was no point in pouncing when the other pup was expecting it.  The fun was in the surprise and Arty wouldn’t be watching for it all the time.  A small malicious smile was on Rudyard’s face as he imagined how fun it would be the next time he surprised his brother.

Rudy was of course thrilled for a fight lesson as well.  The pup was thinking of focusing more on hunting and spying but it was still important he find time to be an amazing fighter as well.  Both for supporting his brother and to make sure Art could never beat him in a scuffle.  Not that Rudyard planned to ever tell Art he found it important to support him in the field he had chosen for himself. Rudy didn’t want to show he had a soft side for anyone, it wasn’t cool-sounding enough.

When they got there he followed along with Art to walk up and look towards the wolf who in theory would be training them.  Hm, large and muscular which Rudy imagined was a good sign for his being a tough fighter.  “I’m Rudy,” the grey-toned pup chimed in after his brother, then glancing at Art, “Of course he is, mom wouldn’t send us to someone who only teaches to be the second-best.” Then glancing back up at Duncan, “Right?”

Outlaw was no fighter and had no desire to ever be one.  The grey and black dog resembled a young german shepherd wearing a cowboy hat on his head.  He had been hunting for a black plant that was supposed to help with sore joints older wolves might often have.  Taking up a healer role was a great idea for him it seemed.  Finding plants and other things with healing properties was rather like treasure hunting in many aspects.  So while the task might have been a job his tail had been wagging excitedly the entire time of it.

Hearing the howl he had at first ignored it.  After a few more steps he paused to consider the matter.  He hadn’t found the plant yet unfortunately but regardless he turned to run towards the howl by one of their warriors.  Watching puppies fight might be fun, and if one got hurt he’d be there to help heal it!  He was still rather new to learning healing but he knew some basics.  Most of it was getting to see them though, learn their personalities and hope he’d find fun in watching.

So the hat-wearing dog loped up to join the small group, “Hi! Mind if I watch?” The question proposed to Duncan, glancing to the pups and technically speaking to the pups it was meant for Duncan as well, “I’m learning to be a healer, so if anyone gets hurt I might be able to help.” Then, more just for the pups, “I’m Outlaw,” his voice brimming with the same cheerfulness as any pup might have.  The young dog had grown older, but he didn’t seem at all burdened by the weight of experience that came with a bit more age.

It wasn’t like the girl had anything better to do she supposed as she wandered in the wake of her brothers. Already her limbs were lengthening and everything seemed out of proportion. If she caught her reflection, her ears seemed too big and her paws were quite huge compared to those of her siblings, but she supposed, maybe she’d just be big like Mumma Resin. That made her feel a bit better. Puffing out her chest and lifting her mismatched eyes, she quickly came to realise she was the first girl there. The strange guy with the funny growth on his head was new... or could it come off? Her head tilted, eyes narrowing as she tried to make heads or tails of it, just coming in in time to catch his introduction. Her tail waved and a smile split her face. "I’m Daphne!" she offered in response, sizing up the not-a-wolf. If Arty and Rudy were paired up, maybe he would practice with her instead? He was practically a puppy in size, and it might be one of the few times in her life an opponent might have an edge on her in height.

Dunkan waited for whoever had the interest to come his way, this was his first time teaching pups and others in general. Yes he did with Meadow but this time was different. And his wait wasn't long as the first two pups arrived both seemingly excited. Artorias and Rudy. He nodded before answering both questions. "Exactly, Ill make of you all the force of The hallows. We need only the best and I am sure you both will become the best." He said not in a very emotional voice as he wasn't exactly a wolf of emotions beyond the coldness. But he did his best.

Another wolf came in(He doesn't know what a dog is). He didn't mind adults joining as the lesson could be also shared with those who wanted to learn. And as one last pup came he guessed no one else would come. "Okay let's start. If during the lesson you have any questions ask away." With that done he was ready to begin.

"Okay, we will start with the basics. And firstly we will learn how to set our defenses. Without them, it would be easy for our enemies to get to us. Defenses stand for making our rivals find it harder to reach our weakest parts. Those are the eyes, ears, throat, and  anything that others could target to make us lose." He stood up. "Okay, first we have our face. The ears should be flattened against the back of your skull. Many would go after your ears to either severe them or rip them off. And by flattening them we make them harder to reach. Then we narrow our eyes as they are also a common target in fights, as many would want to blind you. Especially during a raid." He made a pause in case anyone had questions.

"Following to that, for protecting your throat lower it and place your jaws always between you and the enemy to block their access to it. Do it always, despite what type of fight you are in, you never know what your enemy will do. For males some would also want to attack where it could hurt the most. For that just tuck your tail between your legs so you block any attacks that could come to that area. But for females it also works, but beyond protecting those parts tucking your tail also stands for taking away another potential tagert wich is the tail. An experienced fighter would try to hold you by the tail for either stopping you from moving or in the worst of cases break it." He finished for now. Wanting to give the space for questions or additions before continuing.

Artorias' eyes lit up with the fire that burned in his soul. The boy held a lust for combat and glory, to stand up for justice and fight wickedness with bloodshed. Yes, he had fanciful ideals of what the world could be like, but let none say that his goals weren't noble, nor that he didn't do everything he could to attain them. Dunkan confirmed that he was going to mold them into warriors, the greatest that the Hallows could produce. That was exactly what he wanted! And if this older wolf, a templar of their pack, was saying he would do just that then Artorias believed him. After all, Mom had selected all of these wolves to be in the pack for a reason. Dunkan wouldn't be here giving them this lesson if he was anything less than capable. Sudden footfalls coming closer made the blue boy turn to face his approaching sister, tail wagging in greeting to Daphne. Looked like it was going to be a family training session! That was good. Of all the wolves Artorias worried about, it was his family's safety that he concerned himself with the most. If he, Rudy, and Daphne could become capable fighters, that would take a load off of his mind.

Dunkan began to lesson shortly thereafter, instructing the pups with demonstrations and instructions. Defense came first. It made sense to young Artorias; after all, the greatest offense was nothing without a stalwart defense to back it up. As Dunkan went through the motions, Artorias did his best to imitate the larger wolf, from the placement of his paws to controlling how his ears laid back against his skull. Eyes, ears, throat. Those would need to be guarded at all times. Artorias listened with an intense expression on his face while the templar described how each maim could happen and how it could be avoided. This piqued the boy's interest, as it not only taught him how to protect himself, but also taught him of different places to aim for on his opponents. Eyes, ears, throat. The three points worked both ways. Artorias narrowed his eyes, trying to focus on Dunkan all the while as he assumed a rudimentary fighting stance based on his instructor.

Then Dunkan went on to explain another vulnerability, one that Artorias had never considered before: the groin. His eyes blinked wide in shock. Wolves would really try to attack them there?! I guess that makes sense. In a real fight, everything can be a target, he thought to himself while trying to push back the shudder at the thought of teeth going anywhere near that part of him. Tails. Tails were another part he'd need to keep protected. Artorias experimented with tucking his tail between his legs, keeping it out of the way of possible threats while shielding his underside. Artorias was briefly reminded of the tortoise he had fought before, and how it had almost all of its body tucked inside a shell of armor, save for its tail, which he had used as a weakness. Tails were weak spots on everything, it seemed. Dunkan paused then, and Artorias raised his paw with a question. "I have a question!" he started. "Are there any rules in a fight? Things you're not supposed to do? Or does anything go?" Was there even such thing as honor on a battlefield? Artorias had no idea, but maybe this seasoned veteran would.

The Ooze ParticipantThe Ooze - Variation 1
01-18-2021, 05:43 PM

Daphne might have missed Duncan’s first comment about making Art and Rudy the best, but her nostrils silently flared when she realised she was the only girl. No matter, she had every intention to show them all.

Daphne’s ears instinctively turned against her skull at the mention of ear ripping, her throat tucking out of affrontment rather than defence. She wondered if their mother had lost her eye in a fight, but she had no intention of asking. Daphne quickly realised she was being a bit of a tense baby and adjusted her stance to better match that of Duncan. There wasn’t anyone here trying to rip off her ears and poke out her eyes right now, and if she learned this well, then maybe they wouldn’t get a chance.

It didn’t feel natural to pull her tail under her belly when she wasn’t in trouble, so Daphne left hers hanging between her legs. She could pull it up if she had to, but she really didn’t see a reason to make herself small in this intimate gathering. Also the thought of trying to bite a boy there? It sent bile to the back of her throat. Disgusting. With her size she’d probably be hard pressed to find someone tall enough for it to ever be a consideration anyway.

Her body straightened and her brows drew down at the question about rules. "If someone is trying to make you dead you better make them dead first." Her mismatched eyes all but bored into her blue coated brother. Spars were one thing, but Duncan was talking about raids and scary stuff like that. "I won’t forgive you if you don’t." That should settle that. Her casting gaze made it clear that went for all of them.
