Wee Dingwald!

Áskell bounded ahead of his father, sniffing everything he could to see if he could find fresh wolf blood. Having expressed an interest in fighting, Harbringr brought his son to the battlefield in search of a spar. Any opponent would do though if an opponent were particularly violent or aggressive than Harbringr would of course step in but he saw no reason to discourage his son from fighting an adult if that's what they ended up with. It would be good experience on fighting a larger opponent. Hopefully, though, Hari wasn't the only parent bringing his child here for some fighting experience.
Áskell was a bundle of excitement. He skidded to a stop at a clearing his father selected. "I want to call, let me do it!" His father nodded and Áskell tipped back his head and howled for an opponent like he'd see his father do.

It didn’t take long at all before the pup heard a return call, and of a pup even younger than himself. However, as the pup appeared what he lacked in age he showed well in stride and confidence. Rudy had a grown wolf with him of course, Resin was with him to make sure the impulsive pup stayed safe. However, it was Rudy who had responded and he was heading right towards Askell. Stopping several feet away from the other pup to look him over. The age didn’t bother him in an ounce. “Hi! I’m Rudy.” The pup offered up excitably and then adding, “I accept your challenge,” and he had to add with a grin to the older wolf, “not going easy on you though.” Yeah, he knew who probably had more advantage in experience but that didn’t matter. Rudy spent loads of time sparring with Art and maybe this pup lacked the experience? It didn’t matter. Rudy refused to allow the notion of losing to enter his mind . "Rudyard"

Áskell hopped back and forth on his feet, his tail wagging excitedly as he waited for an opponent to appear. The howl sounded young so maybe he'd get to fight someone his own age. He glanced back at his father and grinned as the older man smiled encouragingly at him. He felt the pressure to do well and he hoped his opponent wouldn't be to tough. He didn't have to win but he didn't want to lose badly either.
Soon another pup and his guardian appeared. The pup introduced himself as Rudy. He smiled. "Hey! I'm Áskell. Don't worry. I won't take it easy on you so you shouldn't on me." He grinned and set the defenses he could remember, making sure to pin his ears and tuck his tail. He then bounded straight for Rudy. His head dove down, rotating to his right as he tried to grab Rudy's right front leg in his teeth just opposite the other boy's elbow.

“Nice to meetcha!”
Rudy got himself squared up even as his opponent got ready as well. Rudy had a tricky tail, it didn’t always like to stay tucked. The thing sometimes had a mind of its own and some point he really needed to get a handle on it. For now it was staying up but his head was even with his body, and his ears went flat.
The pup charged in and so Rudy did the same. As the pup showed he would be going low Rudy decided he’d go high then. Rudy raised his body up, attempting to bite high up on the pup’s neck. He hadn’t bothered attempting to dodge and foolishly felt surprised when he felt the needle teeth on his leg. It didn’t matter probably cause attacking the neck was even better than the leg, right?

Áskell grinned to himself as he bit onto Rudy's leg. Success on the first try! He was so elated that he almost untucked his ears and tail. He was rudely jerked out of his celebratory thoughts however when the other pup bit into his scruff. Oh no! Ok, so maybe front legs weren't such a good target after all. Áskell let go and instead shifted his head a bit higher as he tried to bite Rudy in the notch where his right leg connected to his chest. Áskell hoped to dig in deep and tear flesh in the sensitive area but if no he'd settle for tickling the other boy enough that maybe he'd laugh and let Áskell go. Kelly sought to maintain his defenses including rolling his shoulders forward and scrunching his neck to protect his vitals. He only just then remembered the importance of guarding one's neck now that there were teeth sinking into his own.

The problem with biting the neck was it had more fur protection than his leg did. If he wanted to keep a grip of the neck it meant he couldn’t defend his leg very well. Which was more important? When Askell let go only to bite up higher Rudyard snarled in agitated pain. Fine, this wasn’t working and it did no good to keep trying the same thing if it wouldn’t work. Rudy let go of the neck but instead of pulling away from the pup to have his leg escape its teeth Rudy pushed himself forward, another snarl as it hurt trying to move the leg that had been bit but Rudy was nothing if not stubborn. Biting the neck hadn’t worked but maybe the face would do better! Rudy twisted his head to try and bite the older pup’s muzzle hoping that would make it let go, and if he got really lucky maybe it would hurt enough to make Askell have to back off. How much pain would a good hard bite to the muzzle of an older pup really do? This was the only way to find out! If nothing else maybe it was a good surprise tactic?
