Rudy wasn't going to hurt her. Avantika reminded herself of that. You're good. You're safe. He's good. He's safe. Everything is good and safe. But no amount of reminding could keep a spike of adrenaline from zapping her body when the boy's teeth flashed. Her lack of experience kept her from noticing where his eyes were looking. But his head was lowered, and his movements had no trickery to them. Time seemed to slow down. If his head didn't move from its straight-forward path, she would simply drop her head a bit to meet his and nip the left ear gently between her teeth. She wouldn't tear or even draw blood. Rudy’s ear was relatively flat on his head, he took the pinch of the bite and in return gave her a nip on her front leg.  Coming in hadn’t seemed to scare her overly so they would try a bit more.  Rudy was use to listening to instinct and when it told him to aim for her neck it was an immediate response.  He still showed self-control in slowing his speed down to give her time to react as long as she paid attention to where he was going.  If she didn’t respond in time he would bite her neck, but with no real pressure. Rudy wanted her to not panic when seeing such a motion and he wanted her to be able to respond.  He had never thought it would be so hard to fight slower.  The grey pup wanted to win fights!  Allowing the opponent an advantage wasn’t what Rudyard was used to.  His muscles weren’t used to going for a more controlled slow motion in a battle.  The boy knew he had to go slower for Tika but it was almost more a battle against himself than her. Avantika's nip hit its mark, just before Rudy did the same to her. It was only enough pain to make her aware of it, not enough to hurt in any real way. She barely had time to register all of this in her mind before the gray boy moved again. He was slow enough for her to notice where he was going, and she sprung about a foot and a half to the right, her head ducking even further than it already was. Her eyes fixed on her new friend, Avantika paused. Too long, so she bristled and put on her scary face to cover her hesitation. Truth was, she really didn't know what to do. But she would learn. It felt inevitable to her now. The rush of energy she was feeling now was so different from her usual nervousness. It was an energy that lifted her up, instead of crushing her down. Tika dodged out of the way of his attack, that was good. This was a pretty weak spar but she seemed to be a lot more relaxed and trusting at this point so it was a win. She had dodged the attack to his neck but seemed to have forgotten to attack back. Instead she was going for intimidation. What had stopped her from attacking again? He snarled back to match hers before making a final lunge attack. Maybe she was done fighting but she’d at least have to take one more stab at defending herself. Rudy snarled back, but Avantika wasn't afraid. She wasn't sure what to do next, but it seemed the boy made the decision for her. He lunged forward, but before he could land, she moved to the side and then forward. She shoved his shoulder with hers with all of her body weight, knocking him down, where she would lay over him and hold him down. She was bigger than him and she was going to use that to her advantage. She stared down at him for a moment, maintaining the pressure.
