For whatever reason Haezel felt inclined to stay in this place. Knowing she should trust her gut, she had no inclination to leave until the feeling had passed. There was something for her here. She knew it in her bones. What, exactly, she hadn't the slightest, but she was eager to find out. She needed something, anything, to ease the loneliness she felt in these lands. Sometimes her loss was breathtaking. If she stopped to think about what was gone it hit her like a punch to the gut. Everything. Everything was gone. She had no home, no community, no guide. Nothing. But, she reminded herself, life went on. She had a purpose she just needed to find it.
One of the great things about this place was the amount of plant life here. It reminded her of the grand master's garden. All she had to do was think of what she wanted, feel around a bit, and boom, there it was. Without a gut feeling, the plant life alone would have been enough to give her second thoughts about leaving. How could she leave such a treasure trove?
After carefully stoking her faithful fire, Haezel gently set her turtle shell bowl atop it and lay down beside it to await its insightful burning. In the turtle shell's belly was today's haul from herb hunting. Haezel was asking the same question she'd asked every day so far. For help. For guidance. For something to give her days meaning.

No longer beholden to Ashen or really any kind of name or title, Moonshine wandered alone. Her parents offered for her to join them but she’d felt a draw or pull to go out on her own. She had a mission to fight injustice, not vacation. That wasn’t to say the bubbly girl didn’t miss her parents or her siblings on most days. Traveling alone was well.. Lonely. Honestly the half dog girl figured that she would have a side kick by now, someone who pledged to fight alongside her. She also thought that by now she would have picked a hero name for herself. Her father told stories of the great Rin-Tin-Tin or Balto or Lassie, but she wasn’t fond of them. The only heroes she heard about from her mom were old wolves names from a time too long ago to be worth remembering. Hamiclar and Iber and whatnot. None of them had ever sounded like heroes to her.
Her dainty little paws carried her onward as she pondered this new life. Under thick foliage and over fallen logs as the gulley was opened up before her. The smell of a fire was curious but homey and Moon was drawn to the smell of it. Glad she was wearing her mask when she spied the smallish wolf. Floppy ears perked and head slightly tilted as she approached across the fire. She cleared her throat lightly in case her presence wasn’t quite realized before entering the threshold of rude. As usual a care free smile played softly on her features. ”Hello!” Moon greeted, ”I just smelled your fire and had to come look.” She further admitted. Now the true test, what name did she give if she was asked?

Hazel had just enough time to get immersed in the smoke when a voice broke her concentration. Out of habit her sightless eyes opened and she turned in the stranger's direction. There wasn't much to glean from the stranger thus far; she hadn't even heard the approach. A young woman, most likely, but aside from that Hazel was in the dark. Not that she was worried or anything of the sort. No, she'd been sending prayers out into the darkness for awhile now and she had no idea what form an answer might take. She would approach anything new with an open mind.
"Hello," she echoed back in a soft voice. "It's a good time for a fire, no?" Though she hadn't made the fire for warmth it certainly dulled the chill that had been creeping into her fur. "Join me, if you like, but if you aren't looking for answers I'd stay upwind of the smoke if I were you." The herbs that were now curling in the intense heat were letting off a pungent aroma. That was what Hazel had been concentrating on. When breathed in, the herbs opened the mind and made understanding easier. When you knew what to expect it was usually pleasant. If it caught you unawares the experience could be unsettling. While it didn't matter to her what the stranger decided to do, she saw no reason to expose her to the smoke without at least a warning.

Moonshine was given the woman’s attention and a soft greeting in return. The yearling had no idea the wolf before her was blind, but her pretty mint eyes looked vibrant in the firelight. Moon couldn’t argue her logic, it was a cold evening and the fire had fully pulled her in. The warmth of it, and the scent both lured the young halfbreed. Luckily enough she was also offered an invitation after half inviting herself over anyway. The wolf collie paced forward, her bright blue eyes captured by the flame.
”Oh, yes, thank you!” She said softly, finding that she was outgrowing her puppy energy enough that she could lower her voice as she lowered her activity level. ”Answers?” She questioned softly before she decided where to sit. There were certainly some answers that she was looking for. ”I’ve been searching for a few answers.” The seriousness in her voice was a rare occurrence, but the almost mystical setting the stranger created had its effects on Moonshine already.
The half dog calmed and made herself comfortable before the flame. Her mind raced, but thoughts of her name and the future ahead her at the forefront of her mind. ”I’m Moonshine,” she offered, truthfully, for once. She didn’t feel like her alter ego had any place at this fire.

Hazel's ears prickled upon hearing the girl was searching for answers. Well, if that was the case then perhaps the smoke was what she needed. It was a harmless blend used for stoking the mind and opening it to the hidden world around. Witchy child's play. The girl could handle it, surely, and likely benefit from it. At any rate, Hazel felt she had done her part to warn her about the smokes effects so any interaction between girl and smoke at this point was on her and not her host. "So I have I; I hope you have similar success."
Moonshine, eh? A curious name. It seemed to be a theme for wolves in this land. "Hazel," she greeted back with a friendly dip of her head. She noted, absently, the many colors swirling around Moonshine and the tendrils that stretched from her out into the darkness beyond the bubble of the smoke. It was a curious network of connections that Hazel could feel but had no idea how to interpret. Perhaps with some probing things would make sense. "What kind of answers are you looking for, Moonshine?"

Moonshine couldn’t begin to understand how the smoke might give her the answer to her search for a name, but at this point she was willing to try almost anything. She had to be more than just Moonshine Klein, she wanted to be a hero that young puppies could hear about and look up to, she wanted to give her dog heritage a good name, she wanted to defeat injustice and spread good in the world.
The yearling girl made herself comfortable and began to breathe in the fragrant smoke as Hazel wished her well and introduced herself. Moon’s long furred tail wagged at her curled hips happily as the woman continued, asking about the answers that Moonshine was looking for. The halfbreed furrowed her brows and twisted her jaw as she thought about how to answer.
”Um, well.” She poked softly, wondering how much backstory Hazel needed. ”It sounds a little silly now that I’m simplifying, but I’m looking for a name. A heroic title, something to inspire…” Her voice grew dreamy as she indulged in her dashing aspirations. ”Something to hide my real name.” She didn’t delve too deep, but she would answer any questions Hazel might pose.
