Skadi rolled out of the barrow and skipped merrily down the knoll in search of flat ground. Her lessons were over for the day and she had decided to start her free time off with a spar. She was tired of being small and runty, and one thing all the big wolves in her life had in common was that they were all fighters. Tyrian said he'd been fighting since he was her size, Jupiter said he didn't remember but he thought so, and when she ashed Afi Valentine about it he'd said the secret to getting big and being strong was eating and practicing a lot, so that's what she was going to do.

Finding good ground, Skadi skidded to a halt and looked around. No one was around, unfortunately, so she was at the mercy of whoever answered. That was alright. She could handle whoever came her way! Skadi threw back her head and howled out a challenge: she'd fight - and beat - whoever was brave enough to answer!

Dagrún bounded through the knolls with a stick in her mouth, tail wagging as she went. She didn't really have a plan but she couldn't just leave such a cool stick laying there unattended so she figured she'd drag it back to her den and save it for a rainy day. As she trotted she heard her sister calling for a spar. Without a second thought Dagrún dropped her stick and darted to answer the call. She wanted to beat anyone else there.

Skidding to a halt in front of her sister, dust flying, she cocked her head and grinned. "I'll fight you!" She pinned her ears to her head and remembered to tuck her tail. Her hackles raised instinctively and her fur stood on end. "You can have the first move!" Dag chirped to her smaller sibling. She hadn't really absorbed any strategies yet and was anxious to see how her siblings were progressing. She didn't want to get left behind!

Skadi didn't have to wait long as Dagrun came bounding up. She lit up and dropped into a play bow as she waited for her sister to get close. "Yay!" She'd been hoping one of her siblings would show up. That annoying owl kept dropping in on her and she'd half expected it to swoop out of the sky when it caught wind of what she was up to. Dagrun was a better opponent. At least she knew her sister wouldn't try to drag her into the air or off a rock or something.

Her sister gave her the first move and Skadi bounced to her feet. She arched her back like a cat and skittered sideways at her sister in a mock charge while singing, "Alright, but I'm gonna kick your butt!" Okay, time to be serious. Skadi sobered and sized her sister up for a second before throwing herself forward with a hearty battle cry, "Fimbultýr!"

She flung herself at her sister's chest with the goal of wrapping her paws around Dagrun's neck and using her back claws to half climb, half kick up her chest. There wasn't much of a height difference yet so it was entirely possible Skadi would just drag them both to the ground but that was a chance she was willing to take.

Dagrún grinned and playfully stuck out her tongue. "You'll have to reach it first," she crowed as she teased her sister's height. Skadi quickly grew stern and focused. Dag retracted her tongue and cleaned up her defenses but she still had a mischievous grin stuck to her face. In some ways she had a tendency to take after father more than her mother. Skadi charged and Dagrún tensed. As her sister drew near she unsheathed her claws and swatted down with her right forepaw, trying to swat her sister hard on the top of the girl's head before the other got too close. She didn't really know how effective it would be but she hadn't practiced much with using her paws in battle. Her claws were out but she was aiming to strike her sister a blunt blow with her paw pads rather than draw blood. At least for now. She'd have to try and get a good bite in at some point.

She was mid full steam run when Dagrun's paw smacked her right between the eyes. The blow snapped her head and all of her momentum downwards causing her to lurch towards the ground. She stumbled, stunned, and then her inborn tenacity kicked in, urging her onward. With all the flexibility of a cat Skadi squeaked out from under Dagrun's paw and sprang upwards towards Dagrun's belly. Her goal now was to twist over onto her back so she could attack Dagrun with all she had. She sought to grab Dagrun's belly with her teeth - just a hard pinch - while slapping her with her front paws and kicking her in the chest with her hind feet. Knowing her own belly would be in danger, Skadi made a point to tuck her tail.

Dagrún's paw smacked right into her sister's paw like a mother cat swatting an annoying kitten. She hadn't planned to put all her weight into the paw and hind legs coiled as she got ready to spring again. Her sister suddenly leapt forward and as she did Dag bounded forward off to her own right, upper body seeking to arc in so she could bite her sister's… whoa, right hind leg now that her sister was flipped on her back.

She didn't have time to process why her sister was upside down when she felt teeth sink into her left hind leg and sharp puppy claws kicking at her underside. She tried to bear the pain, intent on at leas getting in one good bite. At the same time she tried to bite she also reached her front paws forward, claws out as she sough to get a grip on Skadi's belly and butt. If she was doing claws then Dag would do claws to!
