I Was Spinning Free
Rudy!

Dagrún bounded through the battlefield with a spring in her step. It was late morning and the sun was shining and although the breeze was cold the sun was quickly warming the field. She couldn't wait to get another spar in. Valdís trailed behind her as per usual. She was getting good at convincing the older woman to go with her. She'd tried asking Halla but she didn't seem to think much of taking a pup to the battlefield to fight and Álarr was busy but the old guardswoman was always willing to escort her if she wasn't on active patrol. Dag found a good clearing. The ground was soft but not overly muddy. She sniffed it and walked about as she examined the perimeter, tail wagging as she did. Yep, this was a good place for a fight. Now if she could find another pup here. She tipped back her head and let loose a howl for an opponent.

Rudy had been able to get his mom to once more let him go out to the battlefield in hopes of a spar, with the supervision of course. He had to become a great fighter! For now, he at least had to be decent enough to be worthy of sparring with his brother. The closer they got to the area the more excited he got but, what were the odds of finding a pup out here again? When Rudy heard the hole he tensed in momentary excitement. Not only another pup but one he recognized from his last visit. Rudy returned the howl and jogged in the direction he had heard it. Sure enough! Rudy spotted Dagrun and strode over, “Hi! Appears you and I get another chance to sharpen our skills!” It had been a fair trek to get out here but that didn’t matter. Rudy loved sparring and opponents from outside the pack were a welcome change of pace. “You’ve been practicing right? We have to keep learning new tricks if you and I will be meeting up occasionally.” Rudy moved over to be in a good position distance-wise and got in a defensive stance. He had to do better than last time. What good was all the practice if he didn’t improve? "Rudyard"

Dagrún stretched a bit as she waited, her back arcing then stretching out as she walked forward and gave a good yawn. She'd been a little slow getting up that morning. Movement caught her attention as she saw a familiar face. "Hey!" She bounded toward him, tail wagging excitedly. "You bet! I've been training hard." She nodded at his words and as he moved to put some distance between them she set her defenses, remembering to pin her ears to her head. She sized the boy up for a moment then darted forward. As she neared she slipped to her right, her head twisting around as she tried to bite into Rudy's left arm pit. She wasn't sure why she chose there other than it was a sensitive area and it also was kind of a funny idea to her to bite someone in the armpit. She hoped to get a good hold and just go with it from there.

Rudy’s ears were flat, his tail out to help with fast movements, and had low for neck protection. All these things were ticked off in his mind. She was coming in for the attack and he moved forward to intercept. He hadn’t expected her to move to the right and so she succeeded in biting his armpit. That had hurt! Rudy twisted his body around in a circling motion, both to try and make it harder for her to try and keep a grip and so that he could reach out and sink his teeth into her back leg and pull on it. Would any of this make her lose balance or at least let go? He had never found himself in this position before which could make it a really good idea or a bad one. Dagrún's fangs found Rudy's armpit and she bit down to get a grip. It was an awkward spot to try and grab but she was thrilled that she was successful. Her shoulders rolled forward, her neck scrunching as she tried to keep close to the boy but he wasn't making it easy. He twisted around and his fang's found her left back leg. She winced at the bite and then he pulled the leg out from under her. Oh no! She tucked her tail between her legs to help protect her belly as she felt herself fall onto her right side. She attempted to not only hang onto her bite but also she stretched out the claws on her front paws and tried to dig them into Rudy's leg just below where her teeth were in an effort to stop her whole body from falling to the side. She pulled her free hind leg up to her belly and sought to kick out with the clawed foot at Rudy's face, hoping to get him to let go of her other leg.

Rudy growled in response to the pain in his leg growing some. Her continued grip while falling pulled more at it, causing him to step in closer as she fell and then her front legs came up also. Rudy had let go of her leg when she fell. For a second he hesitated on what to do but realized doing nothing was sure a mistake. He snaked his head down to bite one of those hind paws protecting her tummy. He aimed to bite into the sensitive region of the toepads and top of paw. That should hurt enough that maybe she’d let go! It was such a small spot though would it be good enough to help him win? Could a bite to the bottom of paw make a real enemy surrender or be weakened by a limp? This would be great experience if nothing else! Rudyard vs Dagrun for Spar Round 2/2 Age: under 6 months Size: Large Build: Medium Skills: Beginner Fighter & Beginner Hunter Specialty: N/A "Rudyard"
