Your Wonton is Wilted

Áskell settled across from Gossamer on the border of the tallgrass plains. After watching Gossamer's crafting and getting involved in a few more fights of his own, Áskell decided that making some bracers wouldn't be a bad idea. He could then make a sling out the extra bits. Áskell took the leather in his jaws and started working on cutting a rough piece that would fit around one of his front legs. Once he'd gotten that done he took one of the little scraps and started chewing it into the proper shape for a sling pouch. He didn't say anything to Gossamer about what he was doing but she could probably guess.

Gossamer hummed as she wandered along the tree line closer to the redbud nook in search of sticks. She wanted a good straight stick she could craft into a wooden spear. She also wanted to find something shorter and a bit thicker to work into an axe handle. She still needed to make the blade. That could be added on later.
Gossamer scanned the brush as she walked along until she spied some straight branches that had blown down from the northern winds that were growing stronger as winter came closer. She picked out a long, straight branch for the spear and a shorter one for the handle. Carefully maneuvering the sticks into her jaws she trotted back to the area of shorter grass they'd set aside as a crafting area.

Áskell watched as Gossamer looked about for sticks for her projects. He wanted to say something to draw her attention to himself but for once he was tongue-tied. Áskell returned to the bracer, setting one of his legs in the piece of leather and wrapping it around to check that it fit. He then set it down and proceeded to chew holes in it. He held the leather down with his paws, claws out for grip, as he moved it into his mouth, biting through to create evenly spaces holes. Once that was done he moved back to the leather pouch and carefully used his canines to puncture a hole on either side of the pouch for the leather straps to go through.

Gossamer glanced at Áskell as she settled down with her sticks. She smirked. "Looks like someone is finally going to pay attention to defense." He couldn't give her crap about her bracers now. Gossamer set the stick down between her paws and started to chew off the extra branches and leaves so that she would have a clean, straight stick to sharpen into a simple, wooden spear. She seized the final branch and pulled for a moment before scissoring her teeth all the way to the bottom and chewing it off. She worked in silence until at last she had a nice spear shaft.
Gossamer then set the thicker stick between her paws and started chewing off the leaves and extra little sticks from that one as well. She had to focus on chewing some of the thicker ones off, pausing to spit out the wood from her teeth. She worked away until she had a clean base for the axe head.

Áskell stuck his tongue out at Gossamer as she teased him about making bracers. "Yea, yea, you don't need to rub it in." Girls! Áskell gathered some leather strands he had in one of his packs. He started at the bottom, threading the leather cords through the bottom holes then crisscrossing his way up, alternating the holes on either side.
Once he got to the top he tied a little knot at each end of the strand to prevent them slipping back out. Next Áskell picked up the leather for the pouch in front of himself and placed a piece of the leather cord on either side of the pouch. Picking up one of the leather strands he carefully tied a knot in one end then repeated the process with the other. He then threaded the leather through and then tied another knot. He pulled the leather cords tight so that the leather pouch formed a pouch that could hold ammo.

Gossamer smirked but said no more. Let the boy pout! She was right and this proved it. Gossamer picked the spear up in her jaws and trotted over to a large rock. She carefully repositioned the spear in her mouth so that her jaws were closer to the tip. She then started rubbing the end of the spear against the rock to sharpen and push it into a point.
Satisfied with her spear she moved back to the axe handle. She carefully chewed at the end, removing a bit of excess material with her jaws and spitting it out on the grass. She then worked her fangs over one end of it to form a notch that could effectively hold the axe head. She could modify it later when she had a better idea of what the axe head would look like.
