Siren finally felt like she was whole again, the moment she placed her dainty little paws on the familiar sand of her island. Relief spread through her as the wind played with her long fur and the winter chill wrapped around her. The young Klein was finally home and she had no intention of going anywhere. Her turmoil was through and she could make her home here. She wasn’t completely sure what happened between Venom and Chimera, but whatever it was Siren was grateful. She had her island. She had a permanent place and her brother wouldn’t let anyone take her or the island away.

There was only one wolf she could count on and it was Chimera. He provided for her and protected her like no one else could. Siren would keep him patched up while she began to build her apothecary. After what Cicero taught her she would expand and begin to experiment with her visions. Mostly to bolster Chimera and any future endeavors he put his mind to. Perhaps she could even grow her own influence…

She was allowing her mind to get ahead of her though. The tiny long furred girl walked quietly along the beach, the day was nearing the evening and the sky was fully grayed. It was hardly a beautiful day but spring would return eventually.

Traversing the now choppy ocean to the island with a mouth full of venison was beyond difficult. Though the waters weren't terribly deep, the winter winds had made the sea turbulent and hard to cut through. It took the giant boy twice as long as it usually would. Why couldn't they just eat the deer on the island, you ask? Because they meant something to Siren. Chimera wouldn't do anything to make her upset. Just the opposite, in fact.

Chi had sent word to his sweet sister, telling her that he would meet her on her island. Really, it would be their island. He didn't plan on letting her out of his sight ever again. Not for long, anyway. Body drenched and tired, Chi shook out the best that he could and began moving purposefully across the island. It didn't take him long to locate his sister. Chimera placed the haunch of venison between them and licked the blood from his chops before speaking. "I brought you dinner. I have much to show you when you're done eating."

Settling his damp body on the ground, Chimera tore off a strip of meat and began to eat. He'd waited until they were together to ingest the fruits of his labor. Bringing his mismatched eyed upward to rest on Siren, the boy asked, "Did you bring the slave with you?" He knew that she was somewhere in Ashen, but he hadn't sought her out.

Siren made the trip to the island long enough ago that her fur was dry, the tiny white hedgehog that she called friend combed and washed the salt water from her. The young Klein looked like the princess that she had been born as. It felt good to look good, even if there were really only two wolves who saw her. No one came out to this island, but that suited the girl. No one cared about her but Chimera, and she returned the favor and didn’t care about anyone but him. Dalila was worming her way in, especially during these cold winter days. When Chimera had to leave the island the girl appreciated having a warm body beside her. The slave girl was sweet too and Siren enjoyed her company.

Still, she was eager for Chimera to return to the island and to her. He’d sent her word, which was half the reason she was on the beach now. Dual toned gaze eventually saw his form down the beach, his massive black and white frame soaked to the bone. She slowed and lowered herself to her haunches and curled her tail around her hips for warmth. The girl peered down at the offered haunch and a grin spread over her features. He’d spare her deer.

She joined him over the haunch as he spoke, carefully joining him as she picked delicately at the meal he provided for her. Her brows raised in interest as he mentioned his plans for after dinner, but she’d allow the statement to stew instead of pressing as he mentioned Dalila. She finished her small bite and looked up to her brother. ”Yes, and we’ve been working on a real den.” Being able to say so, and having a real permanent place that belonged to them, settled the tiny child. Having such a tumultuous childhood gave her feet an unsteady foundation, but Chimera was working to stabilize it. ”I’s just so relieved to be back here with you.” She mentioned again before taking another bite.

Chewing made his teeth hurt, so Chimera tore meat into chunks and swallowed it whole. His jaws and teeth had been painful recently. It hadn't stopped him from fighting every chance that rose, but it was still a constant in his mind. The boy wasn't exactly sure why his mouth hurt, but as long as he could function, he wouldn't worry too much. As he ate though, one of his teeth fell out, lodging point first in the sand. Chi's brow furrowed slightly as he looked at it, but with one black-toed paw, he pushed sand over it and the issue was forgotten.

Siren spoke of creating a den and the boy's mismatched ears flicked forward. She was making a den? Part of his surprise was going to be that he would make them a den, but if she wanted to do so, then he wouldn't deny her that. It seemed to please his sweet sister, so if she wanted to dig in the sand with a slave, then she was free to do so. He would pay his own visit to the slave soon, he felt. His teeth ached and he needed to bite something.

Taking a break from eating, Siren admitted to being happy about being back here with him. Chimera merely nodded. He didn't smile. Chi never smiled. Happiness was a bullshit emotion and he wouldn't have any part of it. He wouldn't admit it either, but he was beyond glad to be back here with her. He'd developed a thick case of anxiety while they were apart. Chimera never wanted to be apart from Siren again. She was all that he had.

Siren watched her brother, she may have looked innocent and oblivious but the girl didn’t miss much. Especially when it came to Chimera. He was tender as he ate the haunch before her, and her pretty doe eyes widened slightly in surprise as he dropped a tooth to the ground. The girl didn’t press the issue since Chimera seemed to brush off the sudden loss. He didn’t say anything about her den making either, but her paws were idle and she wasn’t about to lay about here on the island now that she was back. However awkward her attempts would be. Siren wouldn’t admit it, ever, but her ‘den’ would be much better used as a root cellar than a living place.

So far Chimera hadn’t spent any time with Dalila, not that she really expected him to. Part of her ignored the knowledge of what he would do to her. That was a part of Chimera, and she wouldn’t use her influence to change him, but she would be there to repair her once he was done. Physically for sure, but Siren wondered what kind of mental trauma he’d cause. She hadn’t forgotten the turmoil between them when they were younger, nor the pain he’d inflicted on her once upon a time. That didn’t change anything now.

Siren filled her belly and looked back up to her massive brother, in his silence she wondered what might be going on inside his head. What kind of thoughts he kept from her. ”Alright, I’ve eaten. What do you have planned?”

Eating was difficult with his mouth so sore, so he pushed the rest of his meal away and into the sand. His tongue worked over his gums and he noted how terribly inflamed they were. Chi didn't know what was going on, but he definitely wanted it to stop. How could he protect Siren without teeth? The thought was worrisome and his brow furrowed for a moment. If he lost his teeth he would be useless.

Siren's words brought him out of his mental misery and his pallid pink eye focused on the tiny girl. "Come on. Show me your den." He had something to show her as well, but he wanted to see the den since she'd taken the time to mention it. Perhaps he could help her with it. Digging in sandy dirt was difficult and her paws were so small. He doubted the slave was much use, but he hoped that the other girl was trying to help Siren.

As they walked along, the giant boy spoke again. Before he spoke though, he spit another tooth out into the sand. A flare of anxiety struck him and his ears tucked back against his skull. He didn't want Siren to see how upset he was though, so he carried on, pretending he was okay. "I got you a gift." There was a tiny pack strung around his neck. He wiggled out of it and pushed it towards Siren so that she could open it. He looked upon her with his one working eye, apprehension eating at him. Would she like the head piece? It had taken him a long time to find something that he felt was suitable for a princess.

Chimera didn’t seem to eat much more than she did, but she was reminded of the strange tooth that had fallen out of her brother’s mouth. She peered at him slightly again as he pushed the haunch away and the both of them stood up. He didn’t bring attention to his mouth so Siren wouldn’t press the issue quite yet as he wished to be brought to the den that she and Dalila were working. ”I certainly wouldn’t call it a ‘den’ just yet…” Siren chuckled to herself slightly as she lifted herself to dainty paws and led him into the forests.

Already the deer knew she had returned here, unlike any other deer in Boreas when they heard the tiny princess walking through the forest they would appear just on the edge of her vision. A snout here, a tail there, Siren was sure she caught a glimpse of a big doe eye. They were nervous because of Chimera, but they were certainly present.

Siren turned around to face her brother as he admitted his gift, her eyes widened in surprise as she returned to his side, her long fur trailing in the sandy soil. ”A gift?” She didn’t hide any of the excitement in her voice as he pushed the pack towards her. She gave him one more pointed look before flipping the flap open and revealing the sparkling jewels inside. Her bright eyes widened in surprise as her delicate paw slipped into one of the loops and pulled out the delicate headpiece. ”Chimera…” She whispered in awe.
